TOURNAMENT BATTLE - ROUND 3:
Ermac versus Havik
#3 Supreme Ranking #35
21 wins 4 losses Record 5 wins 5 losses
Champion (2014) Best Result Round 3 (2016)

Ermac made the transition from hoax to reality in UMK3, but didn't fully gestate into an iconic fighter until MK Deception! By then, the legion creature was freed of the influence of his master and creator Shao Kahn. He taught blind Kenshi to harness the powers of the mind, and played a pivotal role in freeing Earthrealm's greatest champions from the influence of The Dragon King! When the timeline rebooted, Ermac was once again a slave to the Emperor of Outworld. The incredible power of his coalescent souls made him a deadly enforcer during the invasion of Earth. In MKX, Ermac drifts into the service of the new emperor Kotal Kahn, with whom he remains.

Havik emerged from a realm of chaos during MK Deception - a cleric for a gospel of disorder! In Outworld, he sought to disrupt the order of his enemy Hotaru and the Seidan guard. He helped lead the forces of light to the resurrected Dragon King, hoping to keep the order his rule could present at bay. In MKX tie-in comics, Havik again played the role of puppet master, manipulating the souls of everyone from Reiko to Raiden in a grand scheme. Commanding a blood code and corruption of kamidogu daggers, he claimed the elusive amulet of Shinnok as a weapon against the Netherrealm. Holding Ermac captive, he used the creature's souls to power the weapon enough to punch through godly protection spells. When Havik reached the Netherrealm, his severed head was destroyed by his secret benefactor Quan Chi. A suitably unexpected end for such a carefully orchestrated plan for chaos.

They are exemplars of the second era of Mortal Kombat that expanded the mythos on home consoles. One makes order of the chaos of lost souls, while the other sews chaos through the order of grand schemes. Choose their destiny! FIGHT!

As much as they destroyed Ermac for me in MKX with the stupid floating mummy look, I am going to pretend that iteration of him never happened. The last Ermac I remember is the badass telekinetic ninja from MK9. He gets my vote.

I vote Ermac, cause i think he would beat Havik in a fair match. I see Havik like a . In the comixs he never fought, he is more like strategizing.

frabn:
"Sheeva beating out Shao Kahn in this poll reconfirms why I despise the MK fan base."

Hey, what's you problem? All the fans have their favorite fighters, from Johnny to Stryker, Moloch or Fujin. All characters have their fans.
You think only a classic character could win the tournament? So why would we vote if the same characters would win every year?

Im really not sure where to go here with this one.

Didnt like Ermac originall in the prrcious timeline but really liked what they did with him in MKD/MKA. New timeline wisw MK9 he was meh but then MKX i really wasnt a fan. So overall henis sort of middle of the road for me.

Havik was meh for me in MKD. In the bew timeline i likes what they did with him in the comics but he was still sort of middle of the road too.

I might sit this one out and let nature take its course.

All of you vote so boring. It' Sub Zero, Sorpion and the most obvious and commercial character. Why even bother makung those "tournaments" ? It's always the same. Also who is decides to face off popular characters vs not that popular at the start ? Why don't you face Scorp and Sub @ the first battle ? Sorry but this is always the same, predictable and boring tourney.q

Ermac is cool but Havik is criminally overlooked in the series. Definitely needs a comeback!

I haven't been too big on Ermac recently but I think he's a better character than Havik overall. I like Havik but it's hard to get too excited about him when he hasn't shown up in a game for 11 years. Ermac gets the 25th anniversary vote.

I would be alright with Ermac sitting out MK11 and Havik taking a spot on the roster.

Your amateurish writing skills aside, perhaps you're unaware that Scorpion was already eliminated, nor has he ever won this thing.

Yep I agree with this. Ermac is not as good as he used to be but he got really good for a while. Havik is pretty meh. Talks about being all about chaos and then sits around coming up with elaborate plans.

Yeah I call so much bullshit. Whining about Scorpion sitting with the popular kids is the lamest thing on the planet. And it takes a special kind of idiot to not notice all the surprising results and differences that happen every year. Which is probably why anybody calling it predictable never actually predicts anything. Hell I think Havik beat Scorpion last year in the first battle! Cant even predict what happened last year let alone next year! lol

TOURNAMENT BATTLE - ROUND 3:
Reiko versus Kenshi
#44 Supreme Ranking #7
31 wins 5 losses Record 15 wins 5 losses
Round 3 (2017) Best Result Runner-Up (2015)

Reiko debuted in MK4, leading the forces of the Netherrealm as a General of Shinnok's armies. He escaped death during the onslaught on the Heavens, but disappeared into obscurity when Shinnok was defeated. He reemerged as an aspiring power working for Shao Kahn in Armageddon, before the timeline was rewritten. Reiko was absent from Shinnok's conquest of Earthrealm in MKX. Tie-in comics told of his manipulations in Outworld., where he steered Empress Mileena's reign with cunning and strategy. His quest for power led him to aid the chaos cleric Havik, but when the powers of a blood god were bestowed upon him, his body was ripped apart from the inside out! A victim of his own hubris!

Kenshi debuted in MK Deadly Alliance, a member of the Outerworld Investigation Agency's Special Forces. He was blinded when Shang Tsung tricked him into opening a tomb containing the souls of his ancient royal ancestors. The arrogant swordsman had wandered Japan proving his superiority against other fighters, but learnt humility with the loss of his sight. Ermac taught him to harness the powers of his mind. In Deception and Armageddon, he escaped death at the hands of Mavado, forging an alliance with Sub-Zero. When the timeline was rebooted, Kenshi again fought the Red Dragon clan as an OIA operative. This time his alliance was with Scorpion and the Shirai Ryu, to whom he entrusted the training of a son. He lent his sword to fighting the revenants of the Netherrealm, defending the Earthrealm so he may reunite with his son one day to seek justice against his mother's killer.

One wields cunning and force, the other skill and intuition. One fights for ultimate power, the other seeks truth in altruism. They are two sides of the neverending struggle between good and evil. Choose their destiny! FIGHT!

The next game needs to do justice to the old characters that never got a proper shot at the story. Comics are cool but a pretty small consolation prize. Please no more Cassie or Jacqui getting priority

Kenshi. I think they did justice to him in MKX, and he would beat the crap out of of Reiko.
beyond that i don't really like him, I think it's time for reiko to say goodbye to the tournament.

Apart from that, yeah, he could come back to the franchise games.

Reiko. One of the most underrated and overlooked badass fighter of the entire series. How the likes of Leatherface made it into MKX while Reiko was left out is a travesty on an epic scale. I will not forgive, NRS.

TOURNAMENT BATTLE - ROUND 3:
Kitana versus Kotal Kahn
#8 Supreme Ranking #20
16 wins 5 losses Record 4 wins 2 losses
Quarters (2013) Best Result Round 3 (2017)

Kitana served The Emperor as his loyal assassin in MKII, but in truth she was the rightful heir to the Edenian throne. The princess turned on her master, aiding the warriors of Earthrealm in repelling Outworld's invasion. In MK Gold, she joined the fight against Shinnok, whose rise from the Netherrealm came through the restored kingdom of Edenia! She remained a friend to Earth's warriors during the emergence of the Deadly Alliance, and fought the forces of The Dragon King when they entered Edenia in Deception. When the timeline was rewritten to avoid Armageddon, Kitana was forced again to learn the truth of her existence. This time she gave her life fighting the resurrected Queen Sindel, becoming herself a revenant pawn for the sorcerer Quan Chi. In MKX, she remains in the Netherrealm with her mother, with eyes for taking a very different throne.

Kotal Kahn was just a boy when he witnessed the conquest of the Osh-Tekk realm by Shao Kahn. An ancient orb allowed him to serve an apprenticeship in the realm of Earth, where he was worshiped as the war god Buluc by an Amazon tribe. The downfall of the Mayans taught Kotal Kahn valuable lessons in mortality and the meeting of different worlds. When The Emperor of Outworld was destroyed, he served Empress Mileena for a time, before rising to claim the throne for himself. Kotal would lead Outworld to a new era of honor and prosperity, remaining a friend to Earthrealm. In MKX, he continues to fight for the delicate balance of a new Outworld, resisting the savage forces of MIleena, and a conspiracy masterminded by Quan Chi. He remains on the throne, with eyes on an uneasy future with Earthrealm's new generation.

They are the old and the new of Mortal Kombat. Royalty, bound by the conquests of Outworld and its former Emperor. They have shared similar lives seeking similar goals, yet have never been further apart. Choose their destiny! FIGHT!

Best character overall in the series for me.

Also, lets stop the sausage fest and get the only remaining girl further in the competition.

Kotal Kahn. I'm a chick and don't care that Kitana's the last female in the tourney, because she's been bland for years and really has nothing left in terms of character development. I'm picking the more appealing character and KK has that in spades right now.

(Damn, look who Ermac's gonna face in the next round AGAIN.) ^_^

Kitana's lost her touch, and I'm not going to vote for her just because she's the last female in the competition. That's dumb. Infact, I'd vote for every character left in the bracket other than Noob over her. TL;DR - I vote Kahn.
