TOURNAMENT BATTLE - ROUND 2:
Cyrax versus Reiko
#14 Supreme Ranking #44
10 wins 5 losses Record 21 wins 5 losses
Round 3 (2013) Best Result Round 2 (2015)
Cyrax led a new wave of Lin Kuei cyber-assassin warriors on debut in MK3. The soulless, mechanical shell protected him from Outworld armies as he pursued an objective to hunt one of his own. In MK Gold he became a fugitive from the Lin Kuei, given a new lease on life by the Special Forces. He continued to serve the greater good in Deadly Alliance, but was doomed to relive automation when the timeline was rebooted after Armageddon. Once more a reluctant participant in the cyber initiative, he gave his life in MKX tie-in comics to destroy Sektor and his takeover of the clan.
Reiko led the armies of Netherrealm on debut in MK4. Loyal to the fallen elder god Shinnok, he took part in the onslaught of the Heavens - apparently escaping death. The history of the mysterious General remained unknown until Deception and Armageddon, when his aspirations for powers were contextualized by his enlistment with the regiments of Shao Kahn. He served The Emperor all while coveting his power. When the timeline was rebooted and Shao Kahn destroyed by the Elder Gods, Reiko this time dedicated himself to manipulating new powers entering in the vacuum. He bedded Empress Mileena, serving her reign as a trusted tactician. Strategy led him into the service of Havik, earning him the loyalty of Skarlet and the power of a blood god. He gave his life in MKX tie-in comics, blind to Havik's true goal to acquire Shinnok's amulet through his death.
In service of dark masters they led a new breed of warrior into Mortal Kombat. Their pursuits ultimately unrvalled them, ending in a fate of death. Choose their destiny! FGITH!
Not really a contest here, Cyrax is a classic and one of my favorite characters. I like Reiko and it still stings that he wasn't in MKX.
He was, in the MKX comics prelude. He died, but if we must be realistics, he was a fool thinking Havik would help him the way he did.

I really wanted Reiko and Kai in MKX (the game not the comics!). I wish they would stop killing characters. Reiko could be a good character. Cyrax actually is so I must vote Cyrax.

TOURNAMENT BATTLE - ROUND 2:
Ashrah versus Kenshi
#52 Supreme Ranking #7
1 win 4 losses Record 14 wins 5 losses
Round 2 (2017) Best Result Runner-Up (2015)
Ashrah debuted in MK Deception under the guise of a mortal woman, but appearances can be deceiving! Life by the sword transformed her from a Netherrealm demon to a purified mortal. The ancient kriss blade she discovered was Datusha - a holy weapon that thrived on slaying demons and granted her ascension. She believed it could make her an angel of light if she completed a mission to destroy the vampire race of the realm Vaeternus. This quest entangled her in the events of Armageddon. Ashrah has not been seen since Raiden rebooted the timeline. Her future remains unknown.
Kenshi debuted in Deadly Alliance, a sword saint on the path to redemption from his past. Life by the sword had made him arrogant and vulnerable to manipulation. When Shang Tsung tricked him into releasing the souls of his warrior king ancestors - he was blinded! Educated in the ways of seeing with the mind, Kenshi began a path of selfless heroics, joining the Special Forces of the Outworld Investigation Agency. In the reboot timeline he communes with his ancestors through his sword, intuiting dangers during the demonic invasion of Earth! Along with his son, Kenshi is one of the great Earthrealm champions who fended off the threat posed by the Netherrealm.
They are warriors who personified the second era of Mortal Kombat history! Representing two realms and two disciplines of swordplay, they are different - yet similar in their quest for redemption. Choose their destiny! FIGHT!
But Ashrah just doesnt interest me much for reason previously commented on.
So Kenshi.
Also....really quite surprised Reiko too that last match over Cyrax.

TOURNAMENT BATTLE - ROUND 2:
Kitana versus Takahashi Takeda
#8 Supreme Ranking #34
15 wins 5 losses Record 2 wins 2 losses
Quarters (2013) Best Result Round 2 (2016)
Kitana launched into the series in MKII, debuting as an adopted daughter and assassin of Shao Kahn. In truth, she was an Edenian Princess born to Queen Sindel and King Jerrod. The second generation kombatant remained a recurring stalwart of the series until the timeline was rebooted after Armageddon. This new reality forced her to break away from Shao Kahn once more, this time giving her life in battle against her resurrected mother. Kitana is now a revenant of the Netherrealm, part of the invading army of Shinnok who attacked the Earth. With the demise of sorcerer Quan Chi, she now vies for a new throne made of hellfire.
Takahashi Takeda launched into the series in MKX, debuting as the son of blind sword saint Kenshi. A skilled warrior in his own right, Takeda was trained from childhood by the new Shirai Ryu ninja clan under his master Scorpion. Skilled in the long range fighting style of razor-tipped whips, he possesses the natural fighting potential of his father and the cunning techniques of his sensei. During the second invasion of Earthrealm by fallen elder god Shinnok, he was part of a new frontline force of Special Forces youths. He joins the never ending fight to defend the Earth from the forces of Netherrealm and other domains, too.
They embody the endless struggle between good and evil in Mortal Kombat. Warriors born to a proud lineage, they carry the torch for their parents across two generations of the series. Choose their destiny! FIGHT!
My favourite character of the series.
(Also.shouldnt her record be 15 wins 5 losses)

TOURNAMENT BATTLE - ROUND 2:
Kotal Kahn versus Scorpion
#20 Supreme Ranking #16
3 wins 2 losses Record 9 wins 5 losses
Round 2 ('15/'16) Best Result Semis (2013)
Kotal Kahn was still a child when Shao Kahn conquered the realm of the Osh-Tekk. Despite the merger, Kotal was able to spend his formative years transported to the realm of Earth. He was worshiped as the Mayan god of war, Buluc, but learned hard lessons in the art of leadership. His traditions doomed the Amazon tribe to death by infection. When Shao Kahn was destroyed, Kotal served Empress Mileena, until he claimed the throne for himself. Though new to MKX, this unique warrior made an immediate impact, ushering in a new era of power and honor in Outworld.
Scorpion could do nothing when his family and clan were killed by Quan Chi. Slain by his nemesis Sub-Zero, the soul of Hanzo Hasashi sunk to the Netherrealm, where his rages engulfed him in the flames of a spectre. Returning to the mortal plane; Scorpion pursued dogged vengeance during the Shaolin Tournament, mistakenly stalking Sub-Zero's younger brother soon after, believing he'd failed. In the rebooted timeline, Scorpion remained loyal to Quan Chi until he was given a second chance at life. Learning to master his infernal rages, he led a new Shirai Ryu clan, only to witness their deaths by a new enemy. In MKX, Scorpion embraced his demonic power, turning against the necromancer when he learned the truth about his origins.
They are warriors steeped in an ancient code of honor, tainted by the stain of death. In MKX they have each sought an honorable path, challenging their enemies whilst striving to to lead the future of Mortal Kombat. Choose their destiny! FIGHT!
