gotta listen to the bossman
Shao Kahn did nothing wrong
Cassie is pretty meh to me. I mean I don't dislike her as MUCH as I do Jacquie, but she still leaves a taste yet to be desired.
Voting Erron Black.
Erron Black. Anything to shoot those pesky and obnoxious millennials lol.
LOL this.
I don't share the hate that most of this community has for Cassie, but I voted Erron Black. Even though he has probably the least character development of ANY character in MKX, there's something appealing about him.
It's not that we hate Cassie (she does have some of the most funniest fatalities and dialogues in the game), it's just that she kinda hogs up most of the spotlight in the next gen category. I kinda like Takeda more than Cassie because at least he has a very interesting backstory though I wished the Kenshi-Takeda relationship could have been expanded a little better in the story mode. I think Kenshi has only one fight in Story Mode.
I'm voting Erron Black, not just because I loathe Cassie Cage and would never vote for her anyway(big part of it though), but because he's just an overall deeper character. A gunslinger in MK was cool enough, but to hear his back story really sealed the deal as far as my interest in the character. Its just a pity that I absolutely don't like his play style, haha.
What backstory? He's a gun for hire. The bit were he did something for Shang Tsung who paid him by extending his life is cool but it's hardly a character defining moment.
Unless I'm missing something?
I'm not trying to be mean here. I feel like this is one of the character that could have tons of stuff written about him that... didn't get anything.

No offense taken. It is in that moment with Shang Tsung that I believe is where the potential lies. True he's not as fleshed out as a character with two MK icons as parents, but I just enjoy seeing the possibilities in between the lines. Cassie is Cassie. We know who she is, where she's been(for the most part), Erron is a wild card who could have ties to anywhere.
I guess to sum it up, its what isn't written about Black that appeals to me. The small bit of back story he does have gets the imagination working. Sometimes, less is more.
STATE FED LIES CHARM EMPTY EYES. Anon.
Voted for Cassie though, because i find her dialogue the funniest, her moves kick ass and i'm sick of all the nay-saying and backlash. For once MK came out with a character who is modern and realistic, without too much cloying cliche, but haters gonna see what they want to see. Also, for an amalgam character i don't find her 'forced' the way that Kira was - being the daughter of Johnny & Sonya it's natural that she would have traits of both. Kira had no reason to use Kano's BD ball or Sonya's kiss.
Also i just noticed that my vote equalised the poll 50/50.
Cassie and the Kombat Sperm can fuck off. Worst part of the new game hands down.

Erron Black, to me, is one of the coolest character designs to come along since MK2 or perhaps Kabal in MK3. He talks right, his gameplay is some of my favorite in MKX, and while his story isn't quite there, I feel like there's a lot more depth to be found given his age, should NRS bring him back for more.
Erron Black all the way. I can think of very few characters I'd vote for over him.
Along with Kotal, Erron is one of my favorite new fighters.
Personality: Erron Black: Stereotypical teenager is kinda funny, but the cowboy is way better.
Design: Erron Black, because come on.
Finishers: Cassie Cage. The downside of Erron is his finishers. They aren't that good.
Backstory: Erron, by a hair.
In a fight: Cass.
The Texan gunslinger wins against the stereotypical teenager 4-2-0.
Holy shit, you're back SwingBatta!
Erron Black is cool all around, though. He doesn't have much backstory, but few characters in MK do. As a fan of Cody in Street Fighter, I like how dirty he fights. So, I'm going with him.
... here's your Subzero, now plain zero.
Cassie's cool to me. Yeah, she's childish and full of herself, but...she was raised by Johnny Cage. You know, the guy who makes vaginal stimulation jokes to alien emperors. Plus, for a video game character she's kind of... um, moving on. The only downside is her moveset, which is kind of weak. Like, her nut punch is poorly animated, IMO.

They might be saviours! Johnny Cage may be known to the world as an old action movie star, but in reality he's every bit the hero he is on screen! Said to be descended from a warrior race created for gods, he's got the magic touch when it comes to beating back threats like the fallen elder god Shinnok. A Mortal Kombat champion who makes it look easy! Taven is an Edenian demi-god who spent centuries in a deep slumber awaiting the call to begin his mission to avert Armageddon. Inheriting godly powers by birthright he is an immensely powerful warrior, but is now his time - or has he arisen early? Choose their destiny!... FIGHT!
Johnny Cage!
Johnny all the way. I've always liked him since MK1 play-wise, but his personality in MKX cemented his status as an all-time, top 3 favorite for me. The character of Johnny finally, truly came to life.
Personality: This one's almost too obvious.
Design: Johnny Cage.
Finishers: Taven has no finishers, so Mr. Carlton.
Backstory: Johnny Cage doesn't really have a backstory at all, so Taven I guess.
In a fight: Johnny Cage.
The ball-breaker wins against the son of Argus 5-1.
He's one of my favorite fighters because he's everything most of the cast isn't: handsome, rich, cocky and talented. Dare I say it: I consider him to be the true face of MK.
Taven....there's something about him I just can't grasp. He's a bit of a douche, yet I think he's not that bad. Maybe his costume is too plain? His moves are rather uninspired? I just can't figure it out.
Aren't Taven and Johnny BOTH douches?
