Recent pic of Masters

http://nodq.com/images/masters09.jpg

If your gimmick and sole selling point (tons of guys can wrestle and talk as good as Masters) is your physique, you should look better than guys who's gimmick isn't their physique. Masters doesn't look as good as Dolph Ziggler, Morrison, Batista or hell, DJ Gabriel. He's going to have to get seriously roided up, which is going to lead to either injuries or suspension and eventual release, or both.

Sounds like a PPV out of TNA. Every match gimmicked, and as many title changes as title matches advertised.
At least it seems like it was a pretty surprising PPV. Surprises are usually good.

Shit like the hog pen match has got to go. Its ridiculous, and reinforcess the general view that wrestling is just a big soap opera. Its sad that casual fans view of pro-wrestling is built on shit like that.

I mean they cant actually believe that real wrestling fans care about garbage like that. But then again when has WWE ever taken real wrestling fans into consideration.

And I don't see the polish hammer working as Masters finisher. It wouldn't work for opponents like Kane, Big Show, Undertaker etc.

It was an awesome display of violence. Pro wrestling is about violence. I am a pro wrestling fan. Therefore, I thought it was awesome. You don't have to try act like a smart ALL the time, it's not a sin to just be a good old fashioned fan once in a while.

And if WWE can get their audience to buy Edge's shoulderpoke of doom putting down Undertaker or Kane, then they can get their audience to buy a high velocity double-handed face smash from a guy with arms bigger than most audience member's thighs, I think.

Pro wrestling is not about violence, and that's not even a matter of opinion, you're just dead wrong.

And at least Edge is tall and he can actually hit the spear on everyone. If Masters tried hitting Big Show with the polish hammer, he'd have to jump to hit Show's balls.
Besides, Edge has the charisma to back up what he does in the ring and give him some credibility. Masters doesn't.

Your dead wrong if you think Pro wrestling is about violence buddy.

Anyway.

Umaga has been fired

They had tested the Rey Mysterio unmasked angle several weeks ago at a house show overseas and it worked well. That's likely why you saw it at the Extreme Rules PPV. For those who missed it, Rey Mysterio was unmasked but his face was never shown to the live crowd.

During last night's Intercontinental title match, Chris Jericho unmasked Rey Mysterio before capturing that belt for a record-breaking 9th time. As previously reported, WWE plans to have this feud continue for at least another month. Jericho and Mysterio enjoy working together and their feud has gotten rave reviews backstage. Moving forward, expect Mysterio's mask to become a part of their rivalry with a possible mask vs. title match in the future.

Why the hell did they fire Umaga, he was one of the few guys I still enjoyed. Bastards. Personally i agree with Zentile, Masters is garbage and wont be anything more than a C list pro with the way he is now.

On a side note, I may begin training with Next Generation Wrestling (NGW) in the Peoria, Illinois area. If i get my way, my character will be named Jerek and have a villainous persona similar to The Joker in the Dark Knight in which I’m the anarchist trying to bring the company down through violence. I guess it all depends on my skills and how quickly I can learn.

Any advice from those of you who actually been in the ring in a real match?

Umaga was another waste of paycheck. A guy that was brought just to squash and after he lost one match, he couldn't keep doing otherwise.

Thinking about your gimmick and ''living'' it is important, but don't kid yourself, most of the time you won't have that perfect character you want. There's writers and bookers who have their visions of characters and what they want for you. Maybe there's a guy who also wants to do that Joker gimmick but he does it a little bit better, or he's a better wrestler.
So basically, have a great time, I know I love wrestling (and I'm lucky that I get to play the gimmick I want for the most part), both promos and matches, but there's no need to get ahead of yourself- now it's time to learn how to wrestle.

As for You-Manga, it's a huge shame, and a surprise considering he was on a fairly important match on a PPV Sunday. Weird. I'm sure they had their reasons though, maybe they were just paying him a lot of money? It is strange, regardless.

So prove it.

Pro wrestling is essentially about telling stories through the medium of a worked combat sport. A combat sport in which the goal is to incapacitate or physically dominate your opponent, and in which it is perfectly legal to kick your opponent in the face and in which you are encouraged to inflict as much pain as possible on said opponent. That is the very definition of violence. Now, pro wrestling can exist without the need to tell any kind of story other than two combatants wanting to physically hurt or dominate each other to prove who is the better man. On the other hand, you can't have a pro wrestling match in which neither person inflicts physical pain or discomfort on the other, therefore, you cannot have a pro wrestling match without violence.

It is logical to conclude that violence is the very foundation of pro wrestling, thus, if pro wrestling is about anything, it is about violence. "Fake" violence, but violence nonetheless. As fans, we're not supposed to know it's a work because we're suppossed to assume everything we see in the ring is real, either through markdom or deliberate suspension of disbelief. So whether or not whatever is happening in the ring is shoot or work, it's really quite moot. In kayfabe, pro wrestling is about nothing but violence.
Has anyone had a chance to see the Macho Man DVD? I am really excited to get it. Aside from Randy and Vinces problems Im excited for it cause The Macho Man was and always will be one of my all time favs!

I'm also lookin for a wrestling school but somewhere in the Chicago area but for me it's hard picking the right one.

And Shibata your missing the point wrestling has violence in it but that's not what it is about. It's about to athletes displaying and artform in that ring, it's about taking the audicance for a ride and making them cheer or boo or make them care or hate you but just all out entertain them. You want them to feel somthing speacial when while watching the match. That's what wrestling is all about.

But in other news As seen on Raw, Vickie Guerrero announced she was resigning as the General Manager of Raw.

As we noted earlier, she is indeed being written off of television as she recently handed in her notice to the company in order to spend more time with her daughters.

It is not 100% certain that RAW was her swan song with the company as there is still a possibility she may appear at this weeks SmackDown taping. Whatever the case may be, she's through with WWE.

Pro wrestling is at the end of the day about violence. I know there is a lot more to it than that, but I really just want to see two people beat the hell out of each other.

I know matches like HBK/Flair, Benoit/Jericho, Angle/Benoit... etc tell an amazing story beyond violence, but that is because those talents took it to the next level.

Like you said, Shibata, it's worked. You want to see two people beat the hell out of each other? Well that's not what happens in wrestling, so you're watching the wrong program.
It's not about legit violence; do you think Masters was praised for injuring Stevie? What proof do you want? People get released or scolded for being too stiff or injuring too many people. Workers who are SAFE are praised, not the other way around. Is that proof enough for you? It doesn't matter because it's certainly not a topic I'm going to continue talking about. It's a shame it's not obvious enough for you, or I think you'd change that foolish mentality of injuring people on purpose you have.

Wrestling is all about the illusion of violence. Essentially its a glorified soap opera, a drama played out with pulled punches and scripted moves. If wrestlers goal was to injure their opponents or be so stiff that people got hurt im pretty sure they'd just fight MMA or something along those lines. I view it as a physical play.

BTW im missed Raw so what happened, im sure and didnt miss much but i still feel the need to know.

And thanks for advice Zentile, i appreciate it, now i guess its time to study and learn the business both in and out of the ring.

Zentile is quite an elitist about his opinion. I know WWE is fake, and that's why I prefer to watch it for my violence fix. It's brutal, over-the-top, and nobody's really trying to injure anybody. It's a guilt free violence indulgence....

Violence isn't all wrestling is about, but it is the main staple of it. I don't care how harshly you attack the claim, at the end of the day you're still wrong. *waits to be attacked for using the word fake instead of worked*

I'm also happy Edge and Orton are no more champions but I'm saddened Batista is now wounded. He just saved us from the legacy. And less than 24 hours after becoming WWE champion, Orton and his fucking annoying hunt dogs destroyed him. That's just an obvious proof they suck and are bad losers. They should be fired for good.

Edge is a good champion, unlike Orton who's just fucking boring.

I'm excited about the second reign of Punk though. Since the WWE won't go all the way to make him a dominant face, they could at least pull of a cowardly heel gimmick pretty well I think. Add the ROH style Straight Edge gimmick and we have awesomeness. Especially with Jeff's past.

Does Edge's rematch clause = void?
