ROH fans are both great and terrible. It's like sometimes they're so good that it's over the top. They're always hot for good wrestlers regardles of their face/heel status, and people pretty much just cheer whoever they want (which is sort of what ROH is about) but sometimes they just seem as bad as TNA's random clapmonkey's.

For example, during Joe vs Kobashi, it was about 60 seconds into the match and they had barely done anything - the crowd broke out into a huge "This is awesome" chant, just because Joe and Kobashi were standing there. An awesome moment for ROH and American wrestling yeah, but geez, chanting it like that is a bit extreme. And they pop like crazy or over-react for some of the smallest things in general, it's like they're too smarky for their own good.

They're kinda like an ECW crowd only more cynical. They rarely sit on their hands though, so they're usually adding something to the match anyway.

Re: Siaki - Meh, does anybody really care about this guy? He was a failure in TNA, so I don't see him making it in WWE. Especially not if he keeps his Rock ripoff gimmick. He'd make good fodder for Kennedy though. tongue

Re: Orton winning the rumble - Not an Orton fan, but if that happens I won't mind. Batista vs Orton at 'Mania would probably be a pretty good match.

ROH doesn't have heels or faces so you just cheer for whoever you want. IMO, that's the way it should be done. There are no heels because you can't break the rules, you can't get DQed (thank god), so obviously those rip off title matches in which the champ gets DQed but keeps the belt never happen, and there are never any run ins.

I agree Abyss is trying to be TNA's Undertaker but acts like Mankind. He is suppose to be TNA's "monster" but I don't find him even remotely scary. I was kinda excited the first time I saw him then I watched him do his thing for 5 minutes and thought wow this is crap.

Edge is just slightly injured right now. His match against Flair is probably just a "warm up" to see how well he's able to go in the ring. On the topic of Edge... he would be a great Champion, in my opinion.

I'm not really an Edge fan but he has never been WWE Champion so I wouldn't mind it that much if he was for a bit just to see what he can do with it.

I like Mankind as well, but seeing Foley come back waaayyy to often is starting to get old. As for either Siaki or Abyss in WWE, I don't care, I like Abyss better myself, but both are good in their own ways.

I don't care which one he goes after, he sucks, doesn't deserve another title shot, and is by some miracle he does win the Rumble, will lose at Mania.

I thought it would be nice to end 2005 with some awards... this is just in my opinion obviously, but I thought it would be nice to do considering this is the last day of the year. (Note: This is WWE related only)

Wrestler of the Year

Winner: Kurt Angle
Runner-up: Shawn Michaels

Honourable mentions: Eddie Guerrero, Batista, Big Show, Kane, JBL

These two guys put on the most amazing matches of the year during their fued, so I don't see how this couldn't have been expected. Not only are they two of the best in ring performers, but they are great on the mic as well. Angle's parody of Shawn's entrance song earlier this year was golden. Both of them definitely deserve to hold the title in 2006.

-----

Tag Team of the Year

Winner: MNM
Runner-up: Big Show and Kane

Honourable mentions: The Mexicools

The decision to award MNM is probably not going to be a popular one, but honestly, these guys are the future of WWE's tag team division. They are exciting to watch, have a good gimmick and are young. The WWE's tag team division has been somewhat of a joke in 2005, especially late 2005. RAW has been left with no serious contenders since the team of Murdoch/Cade was broken to give Murdoch a singles push. The Superheroes have also broken up due to the end of The Hurricane character. There's no more La Resistance either. Who can stop Big Show and Kane? I honestly don't see anyway they can be defeated by a serious tag team, since one doesn't exist.

-----

Most Improved Wrestler

Winner: Carlito
Runner-up: Randy Orton

Honourable mentions: Batista, Nunzio

Carlito has a huge future in the WWE, in my opinion. He's developed into his own unique character over the course of this year, and now will begin 2006 with a WWE Title shot. It's obviously too soon to put the title around Carlito, but with his charisma and improving in ring ability I don't think it will be too long before we see the Apple Shirt with the title. Now das cool!

As for Orton, I think he has become a great heel during the end of this year. His face run was a failure, but he was able to bounce back and become a much disliked heel... always a great career move. I'm expecting Orton to take Batista's title in the near future as a result.

------

Best Rookie/Debut

Winner: Chris Masters
Runner-up: Ken Kennedy

Honourable mentions: The Boogeyman, The Mexicools, Kid Kash

This wasn't a huge year for rookies, but I still feel we have at least one new title contender. Masters has had a slow development, but that has played to his favour. He's still extremely young and has a long time to perfect his skills even more. The Masterlock has become one of the most notable finishing moves in all of the WWE, and that is quite an accomplishment for a rookie guy. I realize he's not quite ready for any sort of title run, but keep in mind this guy is only 22 years old.

It's unfortunate Mr. Kennedy went on the injured list. He was just beginning to get really over with the fans, not to mention he's one of Vince's personal favourites. I think upon his return he'll be going after the United States champion, whoever that may be at the time.

-----

Most Underrated/Held Back Wrestler

Winner: Christian
Runner-up: Shelton Benjamin

Honourable mentions: Matt Hardy, Tajiri, Val Venis

Well, I don't think there's much question in this category. Christian's big push was destroyed once he went to Smackdown for some reason, and that obviously left him very disenchanted with the WWE. He did leave on relatively good terms, so maybe he'll come back some day.

As far as Shelton goes, I realize his de-push may be due to his "mama" storyline, but I'm still none too happy with all of these loses on his record. Hopefully 2006 will bring Shelton back to the front of the Intercontinental Title race.

-----

Best Face

Winner: Batista
Runner-up: Shawn Michaels

Honourable mentions: Rey Mysterio, Matt Hardy, Ric Flair

Shawn would have had this award had it not been for his fued with Hogan. Keeping that in mind, I decided to award this category to Batista since he had been a face virtually the entire year without being booed at all. I also would like to note his more recent in ring matches have been much better than 2004.

-----

Best Heel

Winner: Triple H
Runner-up: Muhammad Hassan

Honourable mentions: Kurt Angle, Edge, Randy Orton

Once again, Triple H is easily the best heel of the year. Many of the other good RAW heels such as Carlito are just too funny to be hated sometimes, but Triple H is still the embodiment of dislike. I'm expecting him to return to main event status in 2006 since lately he has been only performing upper mid-card fueds.

I may have been one of Hassan's few fans. I liked him because he got the job done as a heel. It is unfortunate he was basically "forced" out of the company due to UPN's whining, though. It seems that the only time anything is 'over the line' is when it relates to this nonsense war... sorry, I won't go into that here if I can help it.

-----

Best Crusierweight

Winner: Rey Mysterio
Runner-up: Juventud

Honourable mentions: Kid Kash, Super Crazy, Psicosis, Paul London

This still exists? What happened to the 'push' it was supposed to receive? Oh well... these guys deserve more respect than they are given. WWE just has no idea how to market some of the most exciting individuals on their roster and that's really a shame.

-----

I may edit this later if I think of anything else.

I agree with you totally on those two points...I felt bad watching both Shelton and Christian take a back seat on RAW while people with half their talent were getting pushed.

Also I have to say I was a Hassan fan...I didn't like the garbage the WWE had him spewing out, but you cannot deny that he had excellent mic skills and decent in ring ability to boot. When I heard the reasons surrouding his release i was pretty pissed off.

Alright, I just saw a few matches i've been meaning to get 'round to watching.

Samoa Joe vs Necro Butcher. Wow. wow
I highly recommend anybody who likes Samoa Joe, or likes watching CZW deathmatch idiots get murdered, watch this match. I thought Joe killed him at about three different points. Necro is completely impervious to pain or something, he took "moves" that should've KO'd any normal man. In fact they quite possibly did, i'm not entirely sure, heh. Absolutely brutal. Half of it seemed like a legit fistfight, especially the first part of the match where they were just no selling everything and nailing each other until they were both busted open the hardway. Definitely a must see.

Regal vs Benoit from Velocity - fantastic, like everybody has been saying. Great chain wrestling, mat wrestling, some stiff shots, nice spots, all very good. WWE match of the year candidate.

Samoa Joe vs Super Dragon, well, I figured this would be brutal, and nuts, but not "skytwister press to almost kill yourself on the ring apron" nuts. I always thought Super Dragon was a little bit of a crybaby bitch in that he always stiffs the crap out of people, but never lets others do the same to him. Boy was I wrong. He takes so much punishment in this match it's unreal. Gives a fair bit too, but mostly recieves. I was waiting for a curb stomp, but the top rope double stomp onto Joes head looked sick enough. Great match, and also pretty good booking in the way the match was won, it made both parties look good great without really taking too much away from the loser (poor commentary though, so it's best watched with the sound down).

If you haven't seen these matches, try get hold of them or at least keep an eye out for them, there's a lot of links around the net if you look hard enough.

I'll say this, I can name 10 wrestlers that deserve more so than Orton to win the Rumble, now some of them I don't like and all have had the title at least more than once:
1) Undertaker
2) Shawn Micheals
3) Triple H
4) Big Show
5) Kane
6) JBL
7) Ric Flair (ok maybe he's a long shot)
8) Kurt Angle
9) Booker T
10) Chris Benoit

Now, if anyone can give me 10 viable reasons why Orton is better than these 10 guys and will win the Rumble, than maybe I might change my opinion, but I won't hold my breath waiting.

They already had Hogan vs Angle at a King of The Ring about 3 years ago. Angle made Hogan tap out. They were also saying that there is a possibility of Cena vs Hogan, and let me just say that if that were to happen prepare for horrible wrestlemania matches(Cena/Hogan, Orton/Batista). Cena/Hogan would consist of Cena being punched throughout the whole match, get leg dropped, kick out, cena will punch hogan and do two shoulderblocks, hogan will go for a clothesline and Cena will counter with a spinning back drop, then a five knuckle shuffle, then hit the F-U

Shit, I forgot to add RVD to the list of more deserving Rumble winners than Orton.

Any way, I believe that there is still a chance we'll see Hogan/Austin WM 22. I say this because I read somewhere awhile back that Austin and the WWE are still in good terms with one another. But we'll see. I'd just as soon see Hogan not wrestle at Mania at all than to see him fight Cena.
