Chespin's evolution reminds me too much of Tepig's evolution...

I love Bunnelby's evolution design.

New info on the type chart posted on Serebii.net...
Fairy is Super Effective on Fighting, Dark and Dragon and not effective on Fire, Poison or Steel. It also states that it is weak to Poison and Steel while resists Fighting, Dark and Bug. It is immune to Dragon. (...) According to the leaker, Steel has lost its resistance to Dark and Ghost. Like the rest of this information this is unconfirmed until we get a picture.
I remember how they justified putting in Fairy to balance the game and to avoid changing the current type match-ups, but if this info is true, then Steel received a nerf, and Bug types were just destroyed with a Game Freak fly swatter... Bug is now resisted by Fire, Flying, Fighting, Poison, Ghost, Steel, and Fairy, giving it 7 types resisting, and 3 types super effective, while the rest take neutral damage.
Wow, I just realized that that that's exactly like Grass right now... I wonder if that's Game Freak's way of putting both those types at the bottom of the food chain, like they would be in real life?
I feel a lot more pity for Jirachi, Bronzong, and Metagross now having two additional weaknesses, but at least they all resist Fairy... Yay...

I didn't see an evolution for Bunnelby. Where did you see it?

Anyhoo, Froakie's evolution looks like a badass. I guess I'll be picking the water type once again after all.

Gotta agree with you on that, Froakie's evolution looks so cool, I'm going to start with it. Which means it makes sense to get Bulbasaur and Torchic! grin
Going back to the buff given to Ghost and Dark types, Poison and Ghost now cover each other very well due to Poison hitting Normal types, and Ghost hitting Steel types. This means that Gengar can basically use both STABs and have two extra slots for shits and giggles. By contrast, Dragon and Fighting are no longer a great combo, as neither are effective on Fairy types.
The Normal/Fairy G1 pokemon are also given a huge defensive boost thanks to losing a former major weakness, gaining two resistances, and an additional immunity! I think it's time I raise a Magic Guard Clefable!

That Lion pokemon looks great!

I'm not liking the 2nd evolution of the starters. Except for Fennekin, even though for some weird reason, it reminds me of Lucario.

Anybody seen this? Probably fake, but let's toy with the idea for fun, shall we?

Man, if Genesect and Volcarona really get Uber-lutions, I will make the rest of my next team Bug types.

Actually, considering the selected pokemon, this looks very much legit.

I can honestly expect Alakazam, Drifblim, and Cofagrigus to have Mega Evolutions. Still, I'll need some serebii.net-type confirmation before I go get myself a Drifloon.

EDIT: Official render of Pyroar has been released. I am fucking sold.

Im still not sold on mega evos but looking forward to Kangaskhan, Lapras, Tropius and Donphan.

Not sure I am keen on the starter midevos. Fennekins is the best but it looks a bit strange. Chespins is fucking stupid looking.

I really like the new dark/psychic squid pokemon I'll definitely be using that. Also the lions and the rock/ice dinosaur.

I personally don't like the idea of them nerfing Steel the way they have done. Some Pokémon lose key resistances such as Ferrothron, Skarmory and Forretress. Lucario has now lost one of it's most important quad resistances in Dark. Those who use the Justified variants might think twice about that now due to it's brittle defences. Gengar will be pleased as you mentioned.
I'm glad Poison has received buff and is finally super effective against another type. Plus, with them resisting Fairy as well, some Poison may get a boost in popularity.
As for the old Pokémon upgraded with a Fairy typing, I predict big things for Gardevoir. Immunity to Dragon and a quad Fighting resist complement its stats pretty well. It and Clefable are going to annoy so many people I bet. Although Scizor says hello.
Pyroar looks awesome! It's a shame about it's Fire/Normal typing. It does nothing for it defensively.

Since Mega Lucario will have Justified, trainers using that variation won't have much choice. Gardevoir becoming part Fairy now means that it loses its weaknesses to Insect and Dark, gains an immunity to Dragon, so it is only weak to Ghost, Steel, and Poison. It still has an offensive advantage over Poison, so it might not be an issue.
I wonder if these Mega Evolutions will be deemed too powerful and sent to Uber tier...

They'll only become uber if people spam the shit out of them, which they might.

It seems Mega Evolutions are meant to be used as a last resort, or against other Mega Evolutions. If these methods are how they are maintained, then everything should be cool.

Who wouldn't use one given the 60 options presented (assuming it is legit)? At least one of those pokemon appeals to someone to merit a lot of initial use when the games come out, and based on those listings, 3 of those Pokemon are presently Ubers (Mewtwo, Blaziken, and Genesect), and 3 more used to be Ubers in previous generations (Wobby, Salamence, and Garchomp). It's already limited to only one Mega per team, so they may be quite overpowered.
Consider something like Mega Mawile getting a defensive boost in tandem with the ability Huge Power. You know how Pokemon like Medicham and Azumarill can make so much use of that ability and be scary, credible threats despite their low stats? Well, now imagine Mawile, a Pokemon with a Base Attack of 85 (higher than both those guys, as well as Light Ball Pikachu and Bone Club Marowak) using it. A 252 EV, Attack-boosting nature brings its Attack to 590 at its present stats, even better than Deoxys-A.

Mega Mewtwo X looks much better than Mega Mewtwo Y.

Tyrunt looks awesome. Amaura looks ok.

Frogadier and Quilladin are great. Braixen looks horrible.

Both genders of Mewostic and Pyroar are great.

Mega Garchomp is has an average appearance at best.

It's interesting... I see Dragon and Steel having some balancing done (supposedly), but no word on Water yet (which many people will tell you is among the most powerful types... Many others will bitch endlessly about how they want it and/or Rain to be nerfed)... Do I foresee Water being even more dominant in gen 6? Because the explosion of bitching that would follow would be thoroughly entertaining.

I see your point, but I do understand that the majority of players are competitive, and therefore are more likely to use Mega Evolutions to compete, rather than to troll.

I'm also sure that the Mega Evolutions will have some sort of limitation, possibly time-based, during battle. For example, a pokemon can only be in its Mega Evolution form for six turns a battle. Game Freak has been much more anal in recent years when it comes to fair play, so it's bound to happen.

In other news, the Trainer Customization feature is sick! I plan on regulating several outfits for my character. This is most definitely the feature I am most looking forward to.

I'm doing a Nuzlocke challenge for the first time in HeartGold and I gotta say this is the most fun I've had playing Pokemon in a long time. I've got the weirdest squad with me right now. Its a group of Pokemon I thought I'd never use and I can't imagine any of them dying on me.

For anyone considering doing the challenge, I say go for it. Its a blast!

The rules:

-If a Pokemon faints you have to release it; its dead
-You can only catch the first Pokemon you meet in a new area. If you don't catch it then you don't get a new Pokemon. If its a Pokemon you've already caught, you cannot recatch it.

With how much the later games become playable after beating the Elite Four, I have to say that I'm interested enough to not want to do any of the Nuzocke-style challenges. The closest thing I have to a "challenge" is that I always raise a starter in my team.

I don't get where you have the idea that they would have a limitation like that when there is already a pretty big limitation created from the start (only one Mega per team), but I can definitely see that maybe not all of them will get stat boosts, like Mega Garchomp being noted as strong offensively, but slower than Garchomp.

To elaborate further on some of these new changes, Poison/Ghost is only resisted by Melotta in Aria form, and would be completely ineffective against a Normal/Steel type.
Fire/Dragon remains effective despite Fairy's inclusion, same with Ice/Electric, Ice/Ground, and Water/Normal.
To elaborate on some new changes, Electrics can't be paralysed, Ghosts can't be trapped by Mean Look or Block (no confirmation on trapping abilities like Shadow Tag, or moves like Fire Spin), and Plants are immune to the powder-status moves, like Sleep Powder (no confirmation on Spore).
Oh yeah, Mega Lucario gets Adaptability as an ability, and Steel/Fighting is also a pretty decent combo.
