You're absolutely right, but considering these are cover legendaries, they'll most likely be OP as is anyway, so may as well milk it with some tailored abilities. Besides, Lunaala has two 4x weaknesses in Dark and Ghost, while Solgaleo is weak against common Ghost, Dark, Ground, and Fire attacks, so they may actually struggle in the game when contending against the other legendaries.

I hope we get to see some of these animals as pokemons in the new generation:

Ostrich - Flying/Ground or Flying/Steel (giving it steel so it wouldn't be able to fly like an Ostrich for being too heavy)

Mermaid - Water/Fairy

Centaur - Fairy, Fairy/Fire, Fairy/Psychic

Minotaur - Fairy, Fairy/Fighting

Sphinx - Fairy/Flying, Fairy/Psychic

Anchor - Steel/Water (based on an anchor making it steel/water)

Anaconda - Water/Poison

Toucan - Flying

Condor - Flying/Dark

Impala - Normal (any combination type with normal)

Flamingo - Fairy/Flying, Flying

Unicorn - Fairy

Bengal Tiger - Ice/fire

Yes i don't like that about the abilities too. I think there are some (but fewer) moves that do that. False Swipe/Hold Back and Splash/Celebration as far as i can recall.

I didn't even think about that about the type weaknesses, that's fucking stupid beyond belief. Pokemon =/= logic.
It also happens with Lunatone (another moon-inspired pokemon weak to dark) and Solrock (a sun pokemon weak to the move Solarbeam). At least Darkrai and Volcarona make some sense in that aspect.

Bunch more Pokemon were revealed last week. Mostly Electric types. Grubbin's final evolution is awesome.
Another 1 today. Salandit is Poison/Fire! It's ability Corrosion lets it poison ANY type.

I like the designs so far on this new generation.

I am also liking the new type combinations that they got.

I actually designed a sphinx pokemon, but it was fire/ground & called Sphynxinerate. Anyway, I'm mixed about some of these new designs, as i was for gen V. Mudsdale looks really cool, but Bewear and Cutiefly really don't look 'done' to me. Like they are still in the design phase and aren't finished.

Mimikyu is the best thing ever so far.

Why do they give flowers to Fairy types when designing them?

Flabebe and its evolution, and now Comfey... Makes me think they are Grass type -_-

Cutiefly doesn't look done? The Bee Fly actually looks like that.

So who else is loving the new Alola forms of gen 1 pokes?

It's an obvious manoeuvre to pander to nostalgia (alongside pokemon go) but it works for me. Vulpix as an ice-type, Sandshrew as ice/steel, Meowth as dark and Marowak as fire/ghost are all superb. Looks like this is the way they are re-introducing older pokes seeing as it doesn't look like any new megas are around. I would like to hope that they will also revisit some gen 2 pokes as well. I have big nostalgic love for them too.

Then there are the new newcomers. A haunted sandcastle? Really? And people thought ice-creams were bad.

I only like a few Alola forms, mainly Sandshrew and Ninetales.

Meowth looks the same, only in gray color.

It looks like they are only doing Gen 1 forms, which kind of sucks.. Because Gen 2 could use some new forms.

I personally like the Sandcastle, I just don't like the shovel it has. I think its unnecessary, but that's just me.

When you really look at all the pokemons, the first Generation of pokemon look so generic compare to later pokemons.

Dunno region name, but seems to be based on Spain. Starters are Grass Cat Sprigatito, Fire Croc Fuecoco, and Water type duck Quaxly

Fuecoco could end up as either a dragon or snake, a la Snivy.
