Whats up guys, long time no talk.
ANYWAYS, Im here cuz I just played DR online and I have to say the lag was HORRENDOUS!! WORSE than MK!!! lol
I WILL EXPLAIN WHY:
In MK, the lag might make charaters moves a little more safe, you might get some wierd camera angles, you guys already know. But AT LEAST when you press a direction or hit an attack, you see a response almost immediatly. NOT IN TEKKEN.
EVERYTHING WAS AT LEAST 1/2 to a WHOLE SECOND BEHIND.
NOT A FUCKIN JOKE.
It was like Guilty Gear but not that bad hahaha. That shit was terrible!! lol
I LOOOOOVE TEKKEN, I mean I fuckin LOVE it. Been playin it WAAAYY before MK, YEARS before, but online was UNBEARABLE.
I think someone said that Bryan's sweep skips some frames and is quicker but I didnt see any of that, I didnt really notice any moves being safer. But the whole fight is slowed down.
BUT BACK TO THE SUBJECT
If you plan on spending $600 for Online DR, SAVE YOUR MONEY.
Its NOT all its cracked up to be.

I doubt that DR lags badly. Doesn't it run on multiple servers across the nation unlike MK where it only has one? If it does lag badly like MKA then I might have second thoughts on getting DR.
He is exaggerating. It's nowhere near that bad as long as you don't play people from the opposite coasts or other countries.
Just play people who have three bars with you. The connection will be very similar to that of MK:A's 4 stars.
I don't recommend online play if you have off-line competition, obviously.

Question!!! Can you set the health percentage for Tekken 5: DR online? Cuz if you can only play with 100% health then you can easily be taken out with a ten-hit combo and a throw.

Thats true but cmon Nakm!! Would you seriously sit there and let yourself get hit with the entire ten hit combo lol.
Most 10 hitters are all high with MAYBE 2 lows and a couple mids. They're EASILY sidestepable or stopped with a jab or low jab...or any move you have time for and feel like doing.
The only ten hit I can think of thats mostly mid and a few lows is Heihachi. Other than that they are extremely slow and VERY punishable.
And after you get hit you can still block the next series of attacks by holding back right after.
Dude Tekken has MAJOR DAMAGING SHIT. Paul can win in 4 HITS!! Bryan even in DR can keep you in the air for 90% of your life. My friends get pissed. lol

The only people I can do over 90% damage is with Baek, Asuka, and Yoshimitsu. Especially Baek and Asuka. Asuka has some ridiculous juggling combos. Baek has an annoying wall combo that takes out a shit-load of health. Yoshimitsu has some high damage shit but it all can be interrupted. I try to do decent juggles with my girl Ling Xiayou but she doesn't have many that I know of. I just flip front, back, and side to side. It pisses and confuses the hell out of my brother, lol.
Take that broken ass Steve!!!
Take that broken ass Steve!!!
10 strings are worthless. Have been since Tekken 1. Imagine Mortal Kombat's dial-a-combos all blockable, parryable, side steppable, and interruptable in some cases, after the first hit. That is what basically 10 strings are in Tekken. Pointless.
And no one can really deal 90% of damage in DR. Tekken 5.0 maybe (Steve's infinite combo excluded). Most of time you would have to hit slow juggle starters to do that and have walls near by.
Devil Jin can do 74 pts. of damage after an EWGF (no walls necessary), which corresponds to approximately 50%-55% of damage. That is one of the reasons he is the best, obviously.

They did not make MK2 online as well as they did with UMK3 online, but tell me, is it hard to find matches in MK2 online? I heard it was dead, probably some BS rumors though.
i actually didnt find it bad at all. dead? well i dkont know each time i went on and created a room some one poped up in less then 30 seconds. its either dead and i got lucky both times, once at 8pm and again at 12am. or its not dead. FYI on xbox MKA you could wait up to an hour before some one pops up. danadbab Wrote:

the lag was noticeable vs the 2 guys i played
Deviljin ~ actually i played MKA tonight. i still like playing it. im just annoyed w/ the new PS2 controller for PS3. the block button is different and i dont know it just seems a bit bigger its throwing me off.
OK on to Tekken DR
im not happy about it and im not down on it. i just had some real issuses competing w/ Jade own. dude destroyed me WATCH VIDEO.
my problems w/ it
1 ~ how do i wake up so im not getting poped back up and kicked around when i get knocked to the ground?
i know i can press Back, Foward or square to wake up, but it seems i just couldnt get up and not get smacked around.
2 ~ how do i get away from the walls?
every time you comboed me into the wall i was pretty much dead because i couldnt defend myself at all.
3 ~ that combo you were doing w/ Julia where you would end it w/ the same hit over and over. now is this just a combo or am i doing something wrong and i can get out of dealing w/ those hits?
4 ~ are there attacks that can interupt certiain attacks?
5 ~ what does the star symbol mean when i look at the command lists? its the only thing i cant figure out.
6 ~ are there any tips you can give me?
example ~ i just found out after we played that i can hold down one button then press another to get the 2 button moves to come out. this makes it alot easier to pull off the moves.
i left Jade own because i wanted to learn more combos, theres just so much it gets all
now when i went back online, every time i joined a room to play people they kept leaving. im like WTF i wanna play. id join and they leave O_O
i hope you werent bored w/ my play. i was actually getting kinda bored of my play LOL

^^^The * mean pause. So for example if a move says:
F*1 then that means you press forward then pause for like half a second then press 1.
As for that combo JADE0WN was doing. The one where he kept elbowing you with Julia. I don't think you can get out of it. I don't think it's an infinite though because you slowly drift away so don't worry, lol. Sometimes 4 while you're laying down gets them off your ass. Lei has the same concept with his D+1 while he has his back turned.

GGS last night Dan, I wasn’t bored at all. Your Nina reminds me of Sindell for some strange reason. Tekken DR is a deep game so it’s hard for me to summarize DR fighting engine in one paragraph, but I’ll give you the basic low down. First, DR Online is just for fun and giggles. You can not play online competitively due to lag. At high level play 1 or 2 frame lost will make a huge difference and I will explain why.
Tekken DR runs at 60 frames per second. Every move in Tekken requires a specific amount of frame to be executed. The standard 8 frame jabs requires 8 frames to execute. Some characters have 10 frame jabs that require 10 frames to execute. The move with fewer frames will always beat out the higher frame. We call this interrupting a move. Example, lets take Nina’s standard poke move d/f +1 and Anna’s 1. Nina’s move takes 13 frames to execute while Anna’s 1 is only 8 frames. If both moves are executed at the same time Anna’s 8 frame jab will always beat out Nina’s d/f+1. Also, when you execute a move your character will be at a disadvantage or advantage on block or hit. Example, Nina’s d/f+1 will leave you at +5 on hit and +1 on block. What does this all mean? If you hit me with a d/f +1, my character will be at a disadvantage at -5 frames. So I am vulnerable for 5 frames. After Nina’s d/f+1 hits you can follow up with another d/f+1, now the d/f+1 is 8 frames instead of 13 because d/f+1 on hit gives Nina +5 and the opponent -5. 13 – 5 = 8. Get it????? Now if Nina’s d/f+1 is blocked she still has a +1 frame advantage over her opponent. So another d/f+1 after the block hit will now make the d/f+1 a 12 frame move. So Nina’s d/f+1 is completely safe to spam.
So how do you punish a move in Tekken DR? Again, you have to look at the frame data in order to know the advantage and disadvantage of each move. Nina’s launcher d/b+3+4 is -17 on block. So if I block this move I can punish you with a move that takes 17 frames or lower to execute. Example, Anna’s d/f +2 launcher (16 frame move) can punish Nina’s d/b+3+4 on block. Now if you put lag into this equation then all this shit is pointless. 2 or 3 frame lost will result in a poor game play. You can’t rely on the advantage and disadvantage of each move because of lag. GET IT??? There is also the Crush system in DR, but I don’t want to go into detail. You can get more information from http://www.tekkenzaibatsu.com All the frame data can be located on http://sdtekken.com/t5dr/frame-data/
Dan, I’ll try to answer all your questions based on my knowledge.
1. ~ how do i wake up so im not getting poped back up and kicked around when i get knocked to the ground? You have a lot of options after a knock down. You can always lay there and wait for my move to whiff. 1 and 2 will let your character roll to the left and right to avoid certain moves. 3 is a low trip move and 4 is a mid move. D+4 is a small ankle kick, b,b+3+4 is a flip kick. You can hit b to roll back and f to roll forward. During the roll you can hit f,f+1+2 to do a dive. There are more options but I can’t think of them on the top of my head. Now you might be asking, which move should I use when I am on the ground? Well, it all depends on the situation. You will know which move to use from experience.
2. how do i get away from the walls?
every time you comboed me into the wall i was pretty much dead because i couldnt defend myself at all. The wall damage in DR is ridiculus, but the purpose of wall stages is to prevent people from turtling. Having your back against the wall is the worst position to be in. Try to side step or side walk (hold u or d) and get yourself out of the wall as quickly as possible. If you get launched near the wall you will eat a nasty 50% to 70% wall combo and mix up after you get up. Certain juggles can give you a wall splat into a wall combo. Example, Anna’s d/f+2, 1, 1 , u/f+1, 3, 3+4 wall splat into a f,f+3,4,3, b+3 results in a 75% lost in health. This combo can carry you from a mid screen right into a wall splat. So know your position in certain stages and avoid having you back against the wall.
3. 3 ~ that combo you were doing w/ Julia where you would end it w/ the same hit over and over. now is this just a combo or am i doing something wrong and i can get out of dealing w/ those hits?
That is Julia’s standard wall carry juggle. After her launcher she can get up to 6 -7 elbows. The good thing about this is the 6 – 7 elbows will carry you right to the wall for her mix up. 4 ~ 3, 1 (low, high, then mid), f,f+1 (mid elbow), fully crouch d/f 4,3 (low then mid). All of these moves will result in a wall splat into her wall combo 1+2, b,f+4, 1+2. (insane damage). So to answer your question those elbows after a standard launcher is part of the juggle. It doesn’t do a lot of damage but the purpose of it is to carry you to the wall for the mix up into a wall splat into a game over.
4 ~ are there attacks that can interupt certiain attacks?
My first paragraph answers this question.
5 ~ what does the star symbol mean when i look at the command lists? its the only thing i cant figure out.
I believe the * means pause. Example, Steve Fox f,f pause then 2.
6 ~ are there any tips you can give me?
Sure, I have a mic so we can chat next time you are on. I’ll give you some tips on how to play.
example ~ i just found out after we played that i can hold down one button then press another to get the 2 button moves to come out. this makes it alot easier to pull off the moves.
Yes, this is called buffering. It also exits in MKD and A. Example, Julia’s mad ax throw notation is qcb f+2. You can buffer the qcb during any move then after the move you can just hit f+2 into the mad ax grab. Example, d/f+3 (during the d/f3 animation do the qcb) then just hit f+2. Get it?
Let me know if you have any other questions Dan.

I played with my brother awhile back, now I remember how much I don't really like the fighting engine that much... I just did not like it that much, tons of hits overlapping hits...useless string combo's.. I just did not have that much fun for some reason
Its not a bad game or anything, every once in a while I play it but I just don't like 2 player mode that much. Me and my brother are about even at the game too.
But I do enjoy Virtua Fighter 4: evo
