1, 2, 3, and 4 are exactly the same as in MKA. 1 means Square, 2 means Triangle, 3 means X/Cross, and 4 means Circle. anything with a slash in-between means two directions at the same time. N means neutral.

I believe GameFAQs is a very good spot to learn the terms and different tricks of Tekken. I went there to learn Jin for T5 Original. I'm sure they have stuff for TDR by now. Oh, and low parries are done by pressing d/f while you're being attacked with a low attack.

See SDTekken.com for frame data on Tekken 5: DR.
http://sdtekken.com/t5dr/frame-data/
Basic knowledge:
Basic jab = 1
- Some characters have an 8 frame jab while certain characters have 10 frame jabs. Ganryu is the only character with a 12 frame jab (even though his b+1+2 headbutt attack is 10 frames fast).
What does this all mean? It means, if an attack recovers at -8 (there are very few of them), 8 frame jabbers can punish it but NOT 10 frame jabbers. If an attack recovers at -10, both 8 and 10 frame jabbers can punish it. Keep in mind, though, that this is only when the jabs can reach your opponent. Steve's d/f+1+2 is -13 when blocked but no jab can reach it because d/f+1+2 pushes your opponent away from jab range. You'll need to punish it differently.
Let's say you block Jin's WS+2 (which is -12 when blocked), and you play with Kazuya. Kazuya can punish it with 1,1,2 or 1+2. Kazuya's 1,1,2 is 10 frames fast (because of the starting "1") and 1+2 is 12 frames fast.
Other generic information (these do not apply for all characters):
2 = 10 frames
d/f+1 = 13 frames
d+4 = 13 frames (-13 when blocked)
WS+4 = 11 frames
Hopefully, this will give you an idea of how Tekken works (off-line at least).
PS: Mr. S is an X-Box fanboy XD.

If you have played zbattle online with 1 latency in the same country then there is NO lag, I am still amazed by it today, there seriously needs to be other games like this, I don't know how they do it.
It is probably ZSNES itself.
Well until I get my PS3 which may take some time, unless I get it for my birthday gift this month! By the way i will be brushing up on my old tekken skills up at the arcade in Hickory Hollow mall today and I'm going whoop some peoples arse! yes Tekken five arcade style for now.. So until then i may get Tekken DR online or tekken 6 if it comes out when I get my ps3 cause I know Ps3 are so damn expensive! sheesh lower on the dang prices ppl! ^Sagis all the way foos.
ps, I played Tekken 5 with my buddy on his PS2 thick last night, and OMG, now I see what all the fuss is about.
me and him didn't know shit about the game and we pulled some of the craziest moves that no MK game can ever dream of animating.
I am definetly gonna get into T5 and learn the combos and shit and get myself ready for T6 and a brand new PS3 next year.

ok im on the line on what i should do. do i buy the game this tuesday or wait till oct 5th.
couple questions
1 ~ are you able to play just 1 person as many times as you like? or are you just able to play one game and if you lose you have to wait for your turn to come up again.
i hope its not like that always cause that would piss me off. i like the idea for like when theres a bunch of guys i know on and we can all have fun playing and shit. how ever id like to play one guys often like in MKD-MKA so that i can actually get good. i dont like the idea of having to wait to play some one.
2 ~ are there lots of players online? if yes whats teh average number if there is one. im just curious.
question for Synik ~ when i get the PS3 im getting MK2. do yo play often? also are ther tons of people that play it? i pray there is as this is my fav fighting game.

Dan, it's hard to tell how many people play because there are no general rooms like in MK:D / MK:A online. Besides, when certain rooms get full, they disappear from your screen. My guess is about 100-200 right now, though. Maybe more.
You can play the same person over and over again. For example, if I create a room and invite you (and set the maximum user amount at 2 players for the room), we can play over and over again. That's how Jade-OWN and I did it the other day. You can also kick out players from your room, set number of rounds, time limit, voice chatting, etc. Every character can be picked except Jinpachi, by the way.
I've never played MK:A on X-Box but I believe it is kind of similar to it.
I also suggest playing people who live on your coast only. East Vs. West is extremely laggy (similar to MK:A). Game plays good online but it's fairly noticable that it lags even among the best connections. Juggles are a lot harder to do, and sometimes you have to resort to the simplest combos. To get gameplay most similar to off-line, only play people with green bars (which will be people who live on your coast).
