Tekken 5: DR Online is officially out!

For all of you within the MK:A PS2 community who've been bugging me and asking me about it, there is your date.

MarkMan (senior moderator of tekkenzaibatsu.com) did a review on it since it already is out in Japan. You can find the review on:

tekkenzaibatsu.com of course.

Supposedly, the lag is not too bad, and the game can be played rather well provided the connection (connection quality is represented by bars?) is good of course. The game obviously suffers when there is less bars (like in MK). Certain moves become safe online (no surprise there) with lag.

I'll have to check it out myself to give further judgement.

PS: Survival Mode, and more importantly, Practice Mode have been added as well along with a supposedly new title screen.

Btw, are Namco insane? I just read about T6. Rage mode? Items as weapons?? Lei's gun!?

And post vids as well. If I do well in playing No limit poker cash games in Florida, I'll have the PS3 and T5DR paid for.

Yes. It is getting pretty bad but that is not the worst part. It seems that overall Namco is trying to dumb down the gameplay to please casual gamers.

Namco has changed all 8 frame jabs to 10 frame jabs to "limit advantageous poking set ups so that casual gamers know what to do..." This just makes you sick to the stomach if you're a serious Tekken player.

To GhostDragon: Don't worry. This isn't MK. There will be plenty of videos available once the game is available for the US. You could always check:

VF does have better gameplay then tekken, but tekken dominate vf in everything else (music, replay value and other stuff)

No broken characters. The best two are Devil Jin and Heihachi (that may change with lag, though. Who knows.)

No infinite combos.

No free throws since almost all are escapable.

The game is a millions times deeper and better than any of the recent 3D MK games. The only thing that can hurt it is lag.

I have been reading the posts on tekkenzaibatsu.com about Tekken 5 DR Online and things are not looking so hot right now. Many people are complaining about lags (no surprise there) and people using cheap low moves to win. It is not definite if T5 DR online is running on server based or peer 2 peer network. I have my fingers cross for Namco to install servers for the US release. I’m itching to get a PS3 and download the Japenese T5 DR Online patch, but I think I'm going to wait.

^ Exactly. Shit like Bryan's d/f+3 supposedly comes out too fast online and lacks serious animation. That move is so damn slow off-line and can easily be reacted to...

That's f,f+2.

I'm talking about his d/f+3. It's a sweep that juggles.
