He is terrible. Ask Jin how frustrated I get with Lei when I play him. But I find him cool, and he's my favorite character.
And yes, we're pretty much done. MKA's just been getting stale for me. Very stale. And now that I have a new laptop and my bro has a PS3, not to mention I still have the Wii, MKA is just in my memories, now. I'll still play by request, but that's it. I'm not gona be on the server at all, otherwise.

That's good, just due to the fact that I'm done as well. I just got a 360 on Christmas Day,so I should be playing that for awhile (Unless I get a Ps3 anytime soon.)
But I have Halo 3 and Assassin's Creed,so those should keep me occupied as well.
Of course I'll still be posting here, and talking to all my godd friends that I made on the server, just won't be playing MKA (Unless by request.)
When I get MK8,it'll most likely be on the 360 (Read first paragraph for stated reason.)

i can under stand if i didnt ask for help, but i did in this thread a few times.
my main struggle w/ the game are the wake ups and how not to get hit while trying to get up after being grounded.
this is why i kept losing to one of shoguns characters. every time he grounded me he'd do this run and kick thing each time i swear i blocked high ~ i got hit, i blocked low ~ i got hit.
i feel so helpless after im grounded its annoying.

I am fairly sure I told you about it a long time ago. Note, however, that Julia can get many elbows in a juggle; that is un-avoidable. Once your opponent hits the last possible elbow, it is best to stay on the ground because Julia's low attacks are very low-damaging and among the worst ones in the entire game.
Some characters get FREE attacks after spike juggles (moves that end in a knock down that do not allow you to tech-roll) or solid 50/50 mix ups. Devil Jin and Heihachi belong to that category, and not surprisingly, they are both top tiers.
Just in case you wonder what these juggles are, here you go:
D. Jin = EWGF, f,f+3,1, d/f+1,2~f, Hell Sweeps (the Hell Sweep are un-avoidable; if you try to get up, both hits will connect). This is the gayest juggle in the entire game because it does a little over 50% of damage.
Heihachi = EWGF (or d/f+1,2), f+1, f,N,d,d/f+4,4,N,1, D+1. If you stay on the ground, FC+4 will hit. If you try to get up or back roll, DEWGF will hit into D+1 reseting the mix ups. It sounds easy but it really is not. Heihachi has to work harder for his damage than Devil Jin does.
Try these juggles yourself to understand how they function. If you don't know what an EWGF is or how it is done, ask.
As for getting away from walls, there are two main options:
1. Side step away from the wall carefully.
2. If your character has a throw that reverses sides once escaped, USE it. You'll change sides with your opponent. Make sense?
It is all about knowing what is the best thing to do after certain situations. You cannot know unless you play the game. You can always go to the practice mode, record a juggle and the set up, and then you can see what the best options are to escape the situtation.

It's hard to produce one because it depends who you ask and where you play. Generally, however, it is agreed upon that the Devil Jin, Heihachi, and Kazuya are the top three best characters in DR. From there on it kind of gets tricky to place characters. In any case, I'd put King, Anna, Bryan, Steve, Feng, Julia, and Law in the top ten. Eddy and Marduk are good as well. Ganryu is excellent. I really think any character can win except Dragunov, Lili, Bruce, and Armor King.
Arario has won Evo2K7 using Jack-5, and Jack-5 is definitely no top tier. That gives you an idea that most characters can win when used properly. As I said, Mishimas are the best but no one uses them well in the United States compared to how players use them in Korea and Japan.

k interesting info. what does EWGF mean?.
k interesting info. what does EWGF mean?.
The three Mishimas (Devil Jin, Heihachi, and Kazuya) have that move. It stands for "Electric Wind Godfist". It is a "super" version of the normal WGF, which is done by f,N,d,d/f+2. The EWGF has the same notation except that you have to move from "d" to "d/f" in three frames or less and press "d/f+2" at the exact same frame. If done correctly, you'll do a move that looks like an ordinary uppercut with electricity flowing around the right arm of the Mishima.
It is easily the best move in the game, and the reason why these Mishimas are almost always at the top in the Tekken series. If you can do the EWGF consistently, you can probably do most other moves easily.

Jin has his own variant of it, as well, called the EWHF, but it's a combo ender. Still, it has the safeness of EWGF.
Dave, how is Lei in DR? From what I've been told he's been improved a bit compared to his T5 incarnation. Anything I should know about him? I know of the hahastep (I think that's what it's called), and that he's gained a new move that allows him to start juggles off the ground, but that's about it that I know of him.

FC+4? It is a low that stuns heavily on hit BUT nothing is guaranteed after it. Just block it and punish it using Bryan's WS+1 into a combo. Marduk can also do this low from his stance so you have to be careful.
Azuro, I don't play Lei, and I never have. I don't know any people who play him in DR anyway. It's the same shit with him like in Tekken 5.0 - his damage sucks and so do his juggles. His juggles are below average, and that won't cut it in DR. His numerous stances have some nice 50/50 mix ups but if you guess right and block them you can usually do more damage to him than he can do to you (because, again, his juggles are below average).
He does have a scary throw with u/f+1+2. It is 10 frames fast and very hard to escape. You can even buffer it via u~u/f+1+2 to make the throw animation even faster.
I'd rank him as a mid tier or low mid tier. Not sure.

Ah, I see. Well, thanks for that info. I knew those stances had some uses.

Will some of you still be able to get on MKA to talk? i think I might be getting a mic today : )

i really really do want to get good at this game.
another thing im finding out im having problems w/ is the blocking, which is really odd because im use to back blocking w/ games like Street Fighter and Killer Instinct. i never was good at SF but i am good at Killer Instinct.
anyway i find myself getting hit when im holding back as if im not blocking, i have caught myself tapping back trying to escape and while doing so if i get hit it doesnt block. is this normal? or am i doing something wrong? in SF and KI i am able to tap back and if hit i block, it just doesnt seem to work in Tekken.
3rd thing how does one parry a high or mid attack? i know how to parry low attack but not the high or mid ones.

I haven't found anything on TZ about Tekken's wake up game. I am not surprised, though, as Tekken's wake up game is very simple. Here is a list of what you can do (a star [*] indicates that this wake up option can NOT be done after having been planted to the ground after a juggle):
B - back-roll (like in the 3D MK games)
F - forward roll (the 3D MK games have this wake up option as well I believe)
U - quick stand (similar to the 3D MK games' quick recovery)
*1 (or 2) - tech-roll left (press immediately after landing)
*3 (or 4) - tech-roll right (press immediately after landing)
3 - low kick (-18 on block; leaves your RC [recover crouching])
4 - mid kick (-18 on block)
d+3 - low-tip kick (leaves you RC)
N, 1 - side-roll right (only used after planting attacks but can also be used otherwise if you keep laying on the ground)
N, d+1 side-roll left (only used after planting attacks but can also be used otherwise if you keep laying on the ground)
***The following attacks differ for all characters:***
f+1+2 - forward dive (rarely used because it's too slow)
b+1+2 - back-roll into forward dive (sometimes used)
b+3+4 - lunge (barely ever used because it's so un-safe)
Some characters may also have additional attacks when grounded. Jack-5 and Ganryu have d+1+2 once grounded I believe. There may be other characters as well with additional wake up attacks.
Now, take a look at this under "Grounded Positions".
http://sdtekken.com/t5dr/general-frame-data
In Tekken, you can be grounded many different ways, changing the animations and recoveries of the mid kick (4) and low kick (3). However, as long as you know that 4 will always be a mid attack and 3 will always be a low attack you should be fine initially.
But watch out how you get up once you're in a different position when grounded. Take a look at that picture that says "Facedown (FCD)" in the aforementioned link. If you were to get straight up via Up, you would end up being back turned, and keep in mind that you cannot block once back turned in Tekken. Also, if you were to back-roll once in the Slide (SLD) position, some attacks can re-launch you into minor juggles.
There are tons of other examples of this but it all depends against the character you're playing against and what he or she can do. Know what your opponent can do and what his or her best okizeme options are so you know how to deal with it.
---
You're getting hit because you're most likely backdashing (via b,b). That is not safe in Tekken 5: DR any more. Learn how to backdash cancel using b~b~d/b~b~b~d/b~b~b~d/b, etc. Cancel the backdash with "d/b" when your opponent attacks, and you'll be able block. The backdash cancel was changed and made this way because it was ridiculously safe in Tekken Tag. Players could run all day and you could do very little about it.
---
Not all characters have high / mid parries.
Some characters also have reversals (a reversal is not the same thing as a parry). If your opponent reverses your attack, you may re-reverse it, which is called "chickening".
Parries are not chicken-able, and neither are a few reversals.
Also, some parries and reversals do not parry and reverse every high and mid attack. Some only deal with punches while others may only deal with kicks. King also has reversals that can only reverse left punches and right kicks. Marduk, for example, has two different parry types - one parries only high attacks while the other only parries mid attacks.
That's enough for now.
