Somebody gets it, This franchise has the best universe and characters in the genre (in my opinion,) They don't need the violence, all the MK team really have to do is clean up their mess of a narrative and improve the gameplay and this franchise could finally outgrow the gimmicks that made the franchise famous in the first place.

i agree with you on some parts of your statement, i hated armageddon with a passion! no signature fatalities were shown in that game, everyone had the same move. as for as you judging me, i think its funny i'm the one who is right and if i wasn't reading the posts, how could i reply? and whats the crap with the ears? you act like a spoiled child! its opinions being expressed! you need to just realize its the gameplay i'm interested in. without it theres basically no game! mk is the only game i like thats rated m, i'm not really a big fan of the other ones. i will say i'm sorry if you took me wrong or if i misled you into thinking that i'm some syked out maniac, i'm just a huge fan of the mk series, and this greatly upsets me that the main part was taken away!

you know i think this really does depend on what degree of fan is playing the game.

while someone like me who's been a fan of the franchise and would love for them to move away from the some of the more silly over the top ultraviolent things most casual mortal kombat fans would pick it up bring it home and say what the cock is this shit.

so even though the violence and super gorey stuff is what made if famous and set it apart from other fighting games in the past it still needs that aspect to appeal to the casual MK fan.

also i still think it needs that to set it apart from any other fighting game. even though violence in video games isn't the novelty it used to be MK is pretty much still the only major fighting game of it's kind. you cannot destroy your enemy in any other game like you can in mortal kombat.

The casual MK fan has been catered to long enough and in my opinion is why this franchise was in the crapper in the first place.

That is the complete opposite of everything you've said this entire topic. If you did only really care about the gameplay, you'd be much happier about what you see instead of bitching about blood and gore. But anyway, if you are really gone, so long. For everyone debating about "selling out":

Midway sold out when they signed the deal with DC. That was them basically saying that they can't resurrect MK without the DC label on the packaging.

WTF is up with all this selling out Bullshit...
Midway is a corporation, they do what they want and what they feel will make them the most money. Look what the Mk team has been doing for years with all game characters. We always have Sub-Zero and Scorpion, Fan favorites. They listen to us, if they had "Sold Out", which I don't think they can actually do, then they would have stopped listening to the fans :D

Anyway... yea I could give two fucks about the toning down of the fatalities, the ultra violence isn't what makes the series. If anything other than the characters/ Plot/ and game play, it would be the fatalities which are still there, and for a Teen rated game we're lucky. I don't think anyone should be complaining at this point everything looks great so far and this will all probably end with everyone bitching on here with a copy at home. :D Pretty much anyone who is complaining now is just looking for a reason to.

I'm not having to look very far....

... but I'll think positive. This game, after all, has Free-Fall Kombat and Klose Kombat, and everyone knows that's what MK fans have desperately been begging for. That and the Big Red Cheese.

It also has escapable throws, wake up options and no longer features dial ups.

I'm just being snarky on my B-day. I am quite happy that the dial-a-combos are getting axed in favor of a free-form cmbat system, and grab's are no longer guarnateed hits. The wake-up options still seem a tad too limited, and the lack of true, viable counters remains disappointing, but at least they're there in some format.

Now if we could just get that "blood" code like the Genesis days...
