Now that everyone is hopefully calmed down(or gone for good, he he), I just wanted to make a few points. MKDA is not balanced, no fighter is. Some are more balanced that others, but MKDA does have some serious balance issues(don't believe me, see Bo Rai's infinite). Having said that, I think MKDA isn't near as unbalance as any past MK. Don't start yelling, I can back that up.

Past MKs had the same basic moves, and the only thing that really gave an edge was the 2 or 3 special moves the fighter had. The special moves made all the difference. This design just invited inbalance. But in MKDA, all fighters have completely different basic moves. This tends to make it much much more balanced because the different moves can be used to attack and counter attack at different speed, distances, and the like. The opens up a whole new world of tactics. One person may used a fighters moves to counter and such in a way that even the most experienced MKDA player may have never thought possible.

What's my point? MKDA is more balanced than MK2 simply because more tactics can be used. So I think a MK2 tier list is way more accurate than MKDA tier list. Not to say it's not useful, it is. Some characters do have adavntages over others, and the list seems pretty damn accurate to me. And that's useful info to have. But I do see some biases in that tier list. For example, Nitara is much stronger than that, period.

And while I think that it maybe extremely unlikely for a high level Reptile to beat a high level Jax in MK2. But I can totally see a high level Nitara beating a high level Drahmin in MKDA. There are just so many more moves and tactics to consider. Too many to say it's impossible. That's how I see it, I could be wrong.

Please note, I don't want to and will not fight. I just think this could have been an extremely useful debate before this thread degraded into flaming madness.

there r many games where a low tier character can actually counter a high tier character but that still doesnt make them high tier it just means they they counter pick another character because of the way they both play. now while in MKDA there r characters who arent top 5 that counter pick some higher tier ones but nitara vs drahmin is not that way. not only is drahmin just better overall but he actually counter picks her. thats y i say that the match is not really winable at high level. now if u r far better then your opponant then u most likely will win that match but not of both players r at least of equal skill.

and for the record......MK2 was the most unbalenced of all MK's. jax and mileena were too much and kang was also very good. regular MK3 was really unbalenced, UMK was probably the most balenced of all the MK's because there were so many characters that were broken in that game but even then that top 5 characters were pretty strong. MK4 was very unbalenced even though they all had the same launch combo. tanya,jerek,reptile,raiden were too good in that game. MKDA is terribly unbalenced when it comes to the top 3 characters........no nitara will beat scorpion BRC or reptile at high level and there is no way around that, those characters r just too strong for bottom tier characters to compete.

I'll give you the Drahmin Vs Nitara point since you obviously know more than much about that match than I do. I see what you are saying about characters not being high tier because they could compete with a few on the high tier, makes sense.

I don't want to get too off topic here, but I did a double take when you said Jarek was too strong in MK4. I played the hell out of MK4 and he was always my weakest character. What made him so tough, if you remember?

uhh.........off the top of my head:


1. his weapon. its antiairs well, its fast, has priority, and leads to damaging combos.

2. guarenteed stuff like bone breaker or sweep then back slam.

3. fast roll that can hit all cross up jump-in combo attempts

4. doesnt need to land the universal launch combo to do damage
5. tricks like linking the back slam off blocked combos like hk,hk(blocked) then back slam
anyhow..........these r a few resons u he's top.

Interesting, I'll have to try those tricks if when I play MK4 again, so damn sick of it tho. I do remember using the back slam effectively, but that's about the only useful thing I could get out of him.

Hehe, before learning about the MK4 tier list, Jarek, Tanya and Raiden were my best MK4 characters. It's no surprise that they are top tier :p. I also liked playing as Noob Saibot (his MKG form was weaker).

Anyway MKL, I have a question for you wrt Bo vs Sonya. Two actually. The first being that if Bo's puke is performed in sweep range or thereabouts it's possible to execute the flying kick and kick him away from his own puke without landing it in yourself. You need some luck, though.

And secondly, seeing that Frost's infinite doesn't work on the PAL version I also think Bo's infinite isn't on the PAL version (I didn't try it yet). It involves multiple pukes, yes? If my presentiment is true than this would make Bo not as dangerous as on NTSC although without the infinite he would still pose a massive threat.

Bo is #2 without the infinite. and yes the Bo infinite is in the PAL version. and Bo shouldnt puke at sweep range unless the Bo player is an idiot.

I can answer this seeing as I actually play the PAL version.

Yes, Bo's infinite exists in the PAL version...but your opponent needs to have their back to the wall in order to pull it off. If you don't have them pinned to the wall, they'll stagger just out of reach after the 4th hit of his style branch combo, causing the 5th hit to miss and making the last 2 hits blockable.

So yes, it's there, but it's not really as dangerous as it is in the NTSC version. No mistake, it can still be used to win matches, for sure...it just can't be pulled off in the middle of the arena. If you are playing against a Bo player, just make sure you don't let him back you into the wall. If you are Bo, you can still pull it off, just trap your opponent against the wall first.

Just a question...I thought that Bo couldn't do an unavoidable Puke after doing such a short combo, cause the puke will still be disappearing from the ground, wouldn't it? You'd need to wait slightly longer before puking and this could give your opponent the time they need to get away. Is this true? I'll have to try it out...

EDIT: After trying it out in practice mode, it could work, but I'll need to try it against a human opponent to see if it's actually avoidable...will update when I do.

I'll say this one last time and I'm not arguing with anyone. You guys are taking my "balanced" comment out of text. I meant it as any character can beat any character if you know what you're doing. That can go for any fighting game though. Yes I know some characters are insanely cheap and some are insanely strong and hard to beat, but they can beat beaten. Tougher time beating but they can be beaten. I didn't mean it as they're all equal. I am agreeing with MKL more often than not when I see his strategies because I see myself doing the same thing. I wouldn't of asked MKL for the infinites if I was trying to be a rebel.
