1.It's Sonya's time to shine? Are you kidding me? Sonya has been around for more than 20 years. She has had plenty of chances to shine. If anything underdeveloped characters with untapped potential have to shine, like Havik, Kenshi, Ashrah, Sareena, Nitara, etc.
2.Cassie doesn't play like a female Johnny. That would mean she has all his moves which she doesn't. With that logic she plays like Sonya too, because of the dive kick, the cartwheel, and the fire kiss/device
LOL...Havik, Sareena, Nitara, over Sonya? Alright. Good luck with that. Anyways, she and Johnny both earned their spots in the end of MK9. They were clearly the "winners" of that game, which was a first for Sonya. This IS Sonya's chance to shine, IMO. She's always been a sidekick with a revenge story. In the canon endings she always goes through a portal, gets kidnapped, or fades into the background doing military stuff. Now she's finally one of the last two standing and has an opportunity to have a much bigger role in the main story.

Biased opinion : Neither
Unbiased opinion : Johnny Cage
I'm much more interested in his "hereafters" than Sonya's. Especially if they're putting any stock into his ending.
Either way though, there's still gonna be some butthurt about the Cage family debacle.

You are not alone.
Tbh, did Sonya or Cage actually DO anything worthwhile in MK9? Besides survive...
The only real accomplishment I can think of, is Sonya saving Jax. (With Blunder God help, of course.)
But then again, you could make the same argument about the majority of the cast, I guess.

we kinda have sonya and cage but packed in 1 character. so i prefer to save the char. slots for 2 different original MK char. since half cast is new created char.

Yes. Just because you're biased doesn't mean Sonya "deserves" anything and those other characters don't. I can bet you a lot of people want 3D era characters to come back more than Sonya.
Anyways, she and Johnny both earned their spots in the end of MK9. They were clearly the "winners" of that game, which was a first for Sonya. This IS Sonya's chance to shine, IMO. No. If the developers wanted to give Sonya this grand role that you're talking about, don't you think they would have done it already during those 20 years? She has appeared everywhere. Games, spin offs, movies, cartoons, comics, yet she still is the same old military gal that is after Kano. That is Sonya. That is her character. She has had plenty of chances to shine. Time to move on.
If you wanna talk "deserving characters", how is Havik (a character with great potential who is undeveloped) any less deserving of a spot than Sonya?
To answer the question, Johnny Cage I feel should have more of a shine than Sonya. Johnny never has had a time to shine, especially since he sat out for a game thanks to his live action actor.
And ever since, he's just had crummy stories where he's gotten killed and resurrected. When I saw 2011's story and was shown that Johnny had more of a role in this more than anything, it actually made me appreciate the character a heck of a lot more than I did before.
I certainly did enjoy what they did to his character during that game and cannot wait to see what they do to him in this game.
And also, to those who keeps saying Cassie has the same moves as both of her parents... Heh, what videos were you watching?

When labelling dissenting opinions as stupid you need to be prepared for confrontation. I don't intend to prolong this into a bitter exchange of diatribes nor do I intend to have the last say, so I apologize for the excessive aggression.
I feel that if they plan on killing off Sonya or Johnny Cage they should choose the best route in telling a compelling story. Will both of them die? Not sure. It does appear though that Cassie Cage is heavily influenced by her mother but carries her father's spunk.
In my opinion, I feel that the story would take an interesting turn if Sonya were murdered in front of a young Cassie Cage and Johnny Cage was left raising her on his own. I can't imagine Johnny Cage ever being put in a situation like that which would be very interesting.
It could be interesting that Cassie Cage resents her father for not being there when Sonya died, and they have a strained relationship which leads Cassie to join the army and follow in her mother's foot steps. It's interesting to see this play out knowing that "Uncle Jax" won't ever be around since he died in MK9.
If Cage does have a spot on the roster, maybe after Cassie leaves to pursue her military career, Johnny Cage pursues the hidden powers locked inside of him as was hinted in his MK9 ending.
Just a thought.

Mokap.
Rather see both dead and burried, but if i'm forced with a gun the choose is easy, Johnny Cage.
I hate Sonya Bland so much after they released Cassie into the world and then said that we don't have to think her parents don't make it in. THat was the worst news ever.
Duplicate blonde militair bimbo's while more interesting characters get the boot. NEVAH

If one doesn't like someone else's post, you don't have to quote or reply to it. All in all, just ignore it!
Everyone has their own opinion about something. No need to be bashing at all. Wish this crap would end at once!

So cute and boring all these creature with a penis that want to ignore everything they can't fight against.
Pathetic insects, that's is what they are.
And yes, Sonya is dressed as a cheap bimbo in MK9. While it suits the other girls, it doesn't suit Kitana and Sonya.

Really they should both be there. They were the only 2 heroes besides Raiden to survive MK9. Why even have just those 2 survive if they weren't going to be in the next game? Makes no sense,
But if I had to pick I'll say Johnny. Not because of his potential, but just because he was so damn fun to play as.

They shouldn't create cassie then, now everyone with a logic sence of creativity thinks of them as wasted spot better used on non-same looking bland humans.
