Who deserves to return more: Sonya, or Johnny?

As has been brought up a few times before, some people think either of them returning would make Cassie's existence pointless, but Sonya, especially. So let's say we did end up getting only one of Cassie's parents back, who should it be, and why?

I say Sonya. Precisely because of Cassie's presence. Sonya's return is considered a lot less certain than Johnny's, and sadly, fans probably aren't wrong to think that. I want to see how they'd invidualize both women from one another. It's fascinating to imagine two blonde military gals with different enough gameplay from one another. I think it's a given that Johnny would play differently from his daughter if he returned.

I want both of them back, but if I can only have one, then it should be Sonya. Both her and Johnny's return, but again, Sonya's, especially, wouldn't seem so uncertain if Cassie hadn't been introduced to us before either parents were revealed.

I don't see a reason to have only one back or make it a competition. Both characters appearing will be necessary to tell the story.

Johnny and Sonya. I love both of them in the new timeline better then the old one and would love to see their new storyline play out with their daughter.

It wouldn't be a good story unless I see Sonya giving birth to Cassie and Johnny seeing his daughter for the first time in a hospital who that kicks her dad in the balls :B

They're both returning in the story.
Playable roster character? Most likely not.

I would rather have Johnny. Simply because he's one of my favorite characters and I think it would be awesome to see him mature and be a more fleshed out character. Either way, both of them will be in the game one way or another.

Both in the story, but, I'm leaning more towards Johnny being on the roster glasses

Johnny because his potential for unique never before seen gameplay/abilities gets me hyped.

Sonya will just be more of the same.. albeit flashier and well delivered, but still the ceiling of Sonya is what we all already expect.

Johnnys does not have a ceiling at this point.

His ending in MK9 was really well done. Him becoming this all powerful being is really exciting, I would love to see a variation of that done in MKX.

They're both shoe-ins for the story mode, but I'd be happy to see both of them not be playable, since I always found them boring.

Neither since their character hybrid is in the game.

Neither.
They are fictional characters. None of them "deserve" anything.

Does anyone feel a little off about the notion of a parent brutally murdering their child? I know MK is the game of shock and gore, but this - at least for me - is a bit of a line I don't want to cross.

Kitana and Sindel. Since UMK3.
You've never played one of them against the other and done a Fatality?

I suppose the whole "Evil Queen" thing could have blinded me to it. Evil Sindel is evil and Sonya could be forced to do it (even if it's an unnecessarily painful way).

More likely it's probably because, as a kid, I never really put that together and they got grandfathered in, while Cassie is new and that possibility is a factor. That, or I"m racist against Edenians.

Hehe, well, to me it isn't a problem. I mean, it's a fighting game. Supposed allies, such as Sonya, Liu Kang, Jax etc have been able to Fatality eachother, even when according to lore they would never do such a thing.

It just proves that Lore =/= Gameplay.

I don't think he meant "appearance" as in "appearance in the game overall". He was talking about them making it as playable characters. They could both sit this one out and still appear in Story Mode.

Both along with Metal Johnny Cage and Pink Gold Sonya please.

In all honesty- I'd only want Johnny back in the default roster. Sonya, maybe as DLC. Both in the story mode of course.

Since there seems to be a misunderstanding, let's clear things up: I'm talking about whether one deserves to return more than the other as a playable character. As for why I'm asking people to choose one, well, it's just curiousity, really.

@mkmileena
Yes, Cassie definitely has all of their moves, and bringing both of them back as playable characters would require NRS to separate her moveset in half to accomodate them. They probably couldn't bring back Stryker either, since she uses guns as well, and it's not like Stryker has any moves where he doesn't use guns. (sarcasm)

A character could appear without being playable, true.

But I disagree that this applies to either Johnny or Sonya considering how MK9 ended and what little knowledge we have and what little expectations I have for how MKX will go.

Cassies doesn't have all of their moves!

I'd like to see both return but my pick would be Sonya. Been my fave since MK1. Love the soldier mixed up in supernatural shenanigans storyline she's had and I'm looking forward to what's coming for her.

I second this, since Cassie is already in, lets leave space for more diversity.
