They will probably be badass when they are revealed. Honestly I wouldnt expect any less from MKX as of now. Everything is just SO good.

But that doesnt change the fact that I think Sonya is a waste of a roster spot and I feel very adamant about that.

If a new Saurian was announced prior to a reptile reveal. I would feel the same way. I would NOT take the stance that these Sonya fans are taking "oh she has different moves so its fine if we have two blonde earthrealmers that fight with their fists and feet and gadgets."

I would say "ahhh nah no space for two acid spitting reptillian doods SORRY!" Even if the new Saurian had completely new move set.

Well, hopefully a particular user comes back just to tell us how life is over for them that the "blandest" character in the series had that much of an impact on their life.

And then two weeks late, does a complete 180 and likes them because others are ticked off about them based on their appearance.

Still hasn't forgotten how hysterical that was when Smoke got revealed back in 2011.

And no, I woudn't cry over Sonya's absence in this one if she doesn't make the cut as playable, that was the whole point of my post.

For sure, I doubt someone has a life when he puts on an anti-Sonya crusade, but that was just my impression.

Reading through this thread, I can't help but be reminded of a long time ago, back when MKII was first announced and EGM confirmed that Sonya would not be returning. I was so furious, I wrote many a scathing letter to Midway and was banned from one of the local arcades for getting into a physical fight with someone who said Sonya sucked and didn't deserve to be in MKII. Then with MK3 I was so excited that Sonya was announced to return... until I saw her new outfit. I hated it so much and it made me very angry so again I wrote some nasty letters to Midway AND Kerry Hoskins who I really hated and I blamed them all for everything that was wrong in my life at the time. Finally with MK4 I loved everything about Sonya again. However I felt the exact opposite about her appearance in MK:DA. As I've mentioned before I had some very strong opinions about that game in particular and I was also going through some major personal issues at the time. I had a bit of a breakdown shortly after MK:DA came out and spent many of the following years in therapy, rehab and anger management. Today, I'm a much different person and have a better outlook on things. As a former Sonya superfan and hater, today I feel okay with whatever happens in MKX.

Seriously though people, I get it. I've said it before...the fact that there's so few spots for old characters has people SUPER critical of roster spots. And, on the surface, Sonya, Cassie, and Johnny COULD look redundant to the point of being...wait for it....superfluous .

However, I implore you to consider how NRS designed Nightwing, Batman, and Batgirl in Injustice. ALL THREE thematically similar in being gadget martial artists with similar training and similar gadget attacks. When you actually PLAY the FINISHED game of IGAU (something NONE OF YOU HAVE DONE WITH MKX) you immediately can recognize the aesthetic and technical differences between the 3. All this despite having SIMILAR but DIFFERENT uses of things like Batarangs, Grappling hooks, etc. (Batgirl looks and plays NOTHING like Batman!)
Then we have Green Lantern and Sinestro. Two characters that use Lantern power rings in COMPLETELY different ways both visually and technically despite having a SIMILAR but DIFFERENT design concept.

It'd be different IF/WHEN Sonya and Johnny are revealed and they actually DO look super similar to each other or Cassie. The thing is, NONE OF THAT HAS HAPPENED and personally I can't relate to people that want to take such a limited, critical, pessimistic mindset about the direction of the game before it's even been made public.

Keep crying about it. It's not selfish to want a favorite character in the game, regardless of whether the roster is small or big (we don't even have a clear estimate of this, in case you haven't noticed.)
