I think Johnny could be bisexual. Cassie and any of the new heroes could be gay, but I think Cassie and Jaqcui grew up as sisters so they probably wouldn't have a romantic relationship. Kano could be gay. Who knows, Smoke and Sub could have been a thing. You could probably write a lot of the characters as gay going forward and not change anything about who they are.

That said. I also don't think it should be addressed either if it isn't relevant to the story. I remember people asking about Smoke being gay in MK9. If there had been a meaningful, emotional, plot relevant arc in which his sexuality affected the story? I'm all for it.

But to just throw it in there just 'cause?

That's how I feel about love stories in general. If there's a good love story between characters and it adds to the overall tale... I'm for it.

No lie I swear Kung Lao wanted Liu Kang. I actually like the idea of what people are saying about Rieko being bi and sleeping with anyone just to get to the top, it would give the character and story more depth while at the same time providing diversity rather than just for diversities sake.

I do agree that homophobia will always be an issue in the gaming community (including in here), but the truth is there are no openly gay characters in Mortal Kombat because their sexuality has zero significance in the storyline.
It's a bloody, violent fighting game that has no need whatsoever to stir the pot of real-life social issues, and should stay that way.

If sexuality really has no bearing on the storyline, then I don't see why you couldn't just have a character casually reveal they're gay via an off-hand comment.

I'm sure NRS has wanted to do that at least once at some point, but they aren't willing to open up a completely new can of worms, though.

Keep in mind that the MK fanbase goes completely apeshit over everything. This would be no exception.
