Now this topic is nothing but the majority salivating over how the comic handled the oh so precious three-dee-era characters & getting all bent out of shape over the fact that it doesn't apply to them having a major role towards the actual game's storyline nor being playable ON A ROSTER THAT WAS INTENDED FOR EVO PLAYERS!!! (you lore-huggers oughta see the look on your faces right now)

Because it caters towards individuals who need something familiar to look at in this current installment. Maybe casuals were not too fond of their favorite character in question having a wraith-like appearance as the primary. Why do you think NRS even had Sub-Zero heavily advertised in that fully masked ninja outfit to begin with?(even though I have yet to see him in that costume during the storyline cutscenes he was featured in) Think about it. Tyler blatantly said in one of the streams that they were alternates for a reason you know. That applies to Old Kang, Old Kung Lao, Masked, Scar-less Sub-Zero, etc.

Having seen parts of the storyline & the fact that it has partial relevance to the gameplay aspects &/or roster choice, I'm totally fine with it. If Baraka, Jade, Smoke, Noob, Sektor, Nightwolf, etc. didn't join the playable roster, which was intended for the FGC gameplay-softspots, then how the hell are you gonna expect Reiko, Havik or the rest of the 3D era characters to override them? (I know I know, nostalgia worship is the source of your woes & you still have a special place in your heart dedicated to those long forgotten gems. Don't cry, dry your eyes.)





Same can be applied towards Tanya, who I will personally use as Kano's fatality dummy now that you mentioned it.

Fair enough, familiarity with the EVO-character crowd is a good thing, but competitive players will not really care about the characters really: what counts is who has the optimal build for most cases...

The problem with the characters is not that: the majority are not competitive players. Competitive players are a numarical minority, it has more to do with the aesthetic appeal of the characters.

As for the lore, that has been assraped since Armageddon, so nothing new there. Cutscenes are mighty well made tho, still stupid, but at least watchable.

Man this game seemed to go from the greatest ever to hell in a hand basket real fuckin quick. I'm not speaking for everybody, I'm just saying thats what it looks like.

They do seem to fuck up the storyline every time. I guess they focused a lot more on the gameplay part of this game rather than doing characters justice. This game really does feel as a transition to make the new characters look badass. Kotal and D'Vorah especially seem to be promoted as hell to become staples.

This is all coming 100% from people who HAVEN'T PLAYED THE GAME. lmfao

I don't get the hate. The game looks fantastic, I'm pretty happy with story mode so far (from what I've seen that is) and there is TONS of extra content apart from story and 1v1. I get the level of disappointment from there being almost no 3D era fighters (I loved all those games by the way), but this is a decent roster. The most glaring omission is Fujin, other than that, it's decent. There are characters that I'd like to see playable in the game (Fujin, Havik, Bo' Rai Cho, Li Mei etc.) but realistically, that was probably never going to happen. Thank goodness for the MKX comic. All around, this seems to be an awesome entry in the MK legacy.

I just hope that the characters who could have replaced those killed make it as DLC although it would have been better if the revenants were DLC instead. I'm sure the princess and the Kung Fu twins would earn NRS a high profit but at least Liu and Kitana are together I guess and they all got demon horses. Guess we should be careful who we wish for since we got the characters we wanted, but the ones who should have sat out are in and the ones we really wanted are NPCs.

That's not even the problem. The problem is how people like kitana do nothing in the story. They knew she would be in the game so why have her do less. Same goes for ferra and torr who are seen once in the story. They literally just set ferra torr to fail. Also tanya does more. Shoot she does more than a lot of characters not to mention she is dlc so she not even on the roster yet. How is she a waste when she is not even there?

The gameplay and presentation are FLAWLESS... But the story just went downhill towards the end. Imagine what John Tobias could have made with his background and knowledge in mythology...

Too bad he left of his own free will. A lot of people forget that. He was done with MK. The question people should be asking is 'Imagine what Kittelsen could've made with Vogel.'
