While I don't think he's a playable MKX character. I really don't think that's the last we've seen of him in the comic.

He's a Demi-God with water powers. I'm calling it, He DEFINITELY has special water healing abilities like Katara from A:TLA.

lol and I agree! I honestly don't think he's dead. He got hit by Kotal's massive attack and was just down and out. Surely a demigod who controls water can bounce back from a burn? Right? Maybe? hopefully. I mean this comic does not pull punches when it comes to death, hsu hao got his fucking brain punched out. I thought Rain was gonna like explode or something, but he just caught fire and lay in a crater moaning, clearly alive and well. Maybe not well, more like well done (zing!).

And as far as Goro goes I'm kinda confused, are Shokan's able to regrow arms or what? Maybe somebody with magical powers like Quan Chi or something is able to do that?

Great issue, but I was a bit bummed about Rain because he's a favorite of mine. I had the feeling he would go the way of Hsu Hao tho but I was hoping he'd get a lil Reiko treatment first.

I'm just hoping it's not a case of "I'm not dead...yet!". Even though, as we've seen with Kitana and Kung Lao, death isn't always a permanent thing in Mortal Kombat, I'd just love to see him be involved in a game and live to tell the tale.

Both Ermac and Noob Saibot prospered and developed in Deception when both characters were given more fleshed out backstories and more of an involvement in the game's storyline. Both survived the return of the Dragon King despite having different allegiences and motives, and as a result of having the spotlight on them without them being killed, they gained more fans for it. That's all Rain needs. Not to be included in a game where everyone is killed (MKA), or where he's not even a part of the story (MK9). If he was to be playable in this game, with 3 variations all involved in water manipulation, people would fall in love with him.

I'm hoping he survives this and turns up in the main game. If he's killed off in the comics, I'd be very disappointed.

Some thoughts:

Only thing I'm dissappointed about with Mileena's costume is: The same hair style. It looks super casual in this issue, but I'm already predicting its going to fall flat in the game. I wish she had something more unique from her hair.

Also, I'm not really feeling her mask/stiching on it.

But that aside, its a good costume interpretation of what "empress Mileena" would be. That's about as 'professional/boss/conservative' that Mileena would ever dress to be taken somewhat seriously.

Sucks to be Goro and Rain. Rain was fucked over in this comic, but at least they used him. But its embarassing to be outlasted by Mavado and Tasia at this point.

Really disappointed if Reiko doesnt make the game. He should have gotten a comic redesign in some way for playing such a role in the comic.

I'm hoping Jax is with Sonya under one of those cloaks. He needs to rescue Jacqui, because I'm ready for her reveal too. And Jax's.

It's nice to see Ferra/Torr. I like them.

I actually like a lot lot of those characters. I feel like they weren't given a chance since they only appeared in one game.

Except Khameleon. She sucks.

The characters I'd kill off are Meat, Blaze, Taven, Daegon, Kira, Kobra, Moloch, Jarek, Kai, Mokap, Shujinko and Drahmin. The characters you named were the good ones from the 3D era.

Loved the issue.

Mileena looks fantastic.

Goro was awesome. Him getting defeated, having his arms torn off, and then being (intentionally) left alive by the guy that defeated you has to hurt, especially when he asked to be finished but Kotal refused. I assume Goro can and will get his arms restored and seek to get back at Kotal for that.

Kotal, im liking this guy more and more with every issue, love how he toasted Rain lol he fodderized him. I will admit I was surprised he was still alive afterwards though. Him remocing Goro's arms was awesome, im sure the Shokan's are proud of their four arms, so that was epic on Kotal's part.

When Hsu Hao bit the dust, everyone was like "FUCK YEAH!"

Yet when the equally useless (in NRS' eyes) Rain gets torched like charcoal in a barbecue, it's "But-but he's not dead YET!"

This actually got me thinking. If they had an excellent opportunity to kill off Rain why didn't they do it? Was it to immobilize him and not piss off us Rain fans by saying "Oh don't worry he's not dead, but he wont be able to fight anymore" or are they bringing him back later with a new look with a bigger role to play? Or are they just going to kill him off later down the road which doesn't make much sense if they could just do it right now. I dont know?

Honestly, I don't think we'll be seeing much of him anyway, alive or not. I think it was just for the chuckle.
