Everybody keeps saying that Reiko will try to double cross Mileena. I can see this happening too, but he needs to marry her first. Mileena is the one with a "birthright" to the throne. I think they will rule together after KotaL Kahn's defeat (in game) at least for a bit. A throne consists of a King AND a Queen. Even ShaoKahn had SindeL, well, technically. LoL

Reiko doesn't seem the type to bother with a sham marriage. It's more likely that he'll try to kill her before claiming Outworld.

Does anybody else kind of want Reiko and Mileena to be legitimately on each other's side?

It would be nice, but Reiko's too cunning not to be ambitious IMO.

Kotal and D'Vorah don't look like they're going to betray each other, but then again, they're not truly villainous.

Obviously it makes sense for Reiko, and I do think there's ulterior motive there... I'd just like to see villains who have some loyalty for once, as I always find that intriguing (when it's not like, say, Reptile, who just keeps getting fucked over by his loyalty to whoever has it at the time).

I mean, what if Reiko were satisfied with being effectively the ruler, but leaving Mileena as the figurehead? She's what gives him that power, that claim to the throne... but he could appreciate letting her name be at the top...


Which, truthfully, does make Mileena look like a total tool but since the Mk9 retcon of her entire personality and backstory, it's kind of all she is now (which depresses me, but hey)

Well, we'll just have to wait and see.

They could betray one another. We do not know any of their true motives especially for D'Vorah, we do not even know her origins or why she is aligned with Kotal Kahn. They well and truely could be villainous. I hope they are not though. The more neutral characters to me are the most interesting.

I completely agree with you. I think it would be considerably more interesting if Reiko was indeed fighting for and with Mileena. Firstly because, well, if anybody in MK desperately needs some friends and partners, it's Mileena; and secondly, because it makes for more engaging villains, like you said.

It's so predictable and one-dimensional to have wholly self-serving villains who just can't wait to screw over or kill anyone standing beside them. This isn't Highlander; in order to be powerful and successful, villain or not, characters generally need or should pragmatically seek help. The best type of villains stand for something, an ideal that just happens to not be a very popular or moral one, and they will fight for that ideal by seeking like-minded individuals in order to complete their goals and overcome opposition. That's where true, frightening villainy is born: the spreading of an immoral ideal like a virus, destroying/cleansing the norm as it grows. That's a lot more daunting and intriguing than "BAHA I'M SO BAD, I CAN'T WAIT TO STAB SOMEONE TODAY!"

I hope we're all proven wrong and Reiko indeed takes a liking to Mileena



Unfortunately, it's been stated by the dev team (I think when they're explaining the intro of Kotal Vs D'Vorah) that she has a hand in his downfall; that she betrays him at some point. As usual, Sonya was right from the start lol

tomorrow's print issue is #3 and will cover chapters 7,8,9

with chapter 9 not yet released digitally, so we get to see it before the digital viewers(but that only happens every other print issue)

Omg really? Fuck yes! Oh that makes me so happy! I can't wait! The only downside is that it means I have to wait more than a week for the chapter after that, but I'll deal with it. Lol
