So it's a no for Kobra, next up is Kung Lao:
I thought his death was the most shocking death out of the entire game. (More shocking than almost all of the hero characters getting killed by Sindel) I'd like to see more of this character get more of a hero stance rather than Liu hogging all of the attention. I liked how he was first introduced to us in story mode. So, despite that he's most likely going to return by being the undead, in the future, I'd like to see him have more of a chance to become the hero. It's a yes for me.

More so we can have a core roster.

Yes for Kung Lao!

Yes, bring Kung back and make him the hero.
Just get rid of the fucking jackass personality from SM.

I say "yes" to Kung Lao, especially since he got cheated.

If they do bring him back at the end of MK10 and put him in another sequel, give his whirlwind kick!

I'd like to say yes, because he's a great character and a truly wonderful personality (even though he had a terrible moveset in MK9), and because he was around at this point in the original timeline. However if he is brought back it would seriously undermine the 'shock value' of his surprise death.
So basically no, but with the understanding of why that is, and he IS a great char.

What is terrible about his moveset?

We could say the same for literally everyone who died in the Sindel Massacre.
Shit. I missed this entire discussion up until now, lol. I guess I'll start reading all this.
I think any character from MK to MK4 should always have consideration for any future games, I know there are some characters in MK4 that were only in that game, and Armageddon. I set the line at MK4 because that covers all the characters that kind of have seniority over characters from MKDA and up. Of course characters from the first three have the most seniority. There's even some characters from the first three that kinda suck and are pointless, but it's the principle.

... No offense or anything, but what you said kinda throws off the whole point of this thread. Ignore, for the moment, about iconic characters and those who hold seniority having to be THE point to throw out as to why they need to make an appearance. Just vote for the character that's currently being talked about right now on whether or not they should return for the next game. It gives more of a discussion rather than throwing the whole, "they're iconic, nuff said."
And since Kung Lao is currently being discussed right now, is that a yes or a no for him?

I apologize for deviating from protocol. I think before they start coming up with new characters or give someone lame like Kobra or Nitara another chance; they should consider the "important" characters.
As for Kung Lao, well he's dead. Some of the characters that died are pretty important, so there should at least be some mention or acknowledgment or appearance or something of the important ones that died.
No worries, I just thought it would be more for the conversations if the main reason for a character to come back is due to their "iconic" or "seniority" stance in the series.
I'll give Kung Lao one more day for discussion if there's anything else to discuss with him that we haven't seen yet.

Well Kung Lao made it, sorry for keeping you guys a bit. Forgot to do this before heading out of town for two days. Anyways:

Li Mei is next.
As much as I thought she was an interesting character in Deadly Alliance, I would like for her to return in the next game. I think she could be apart of the heroes fighting against Shinnok and Quan Chi, but I hope they still keep the whole "Slave fighting for her people's freedom" character. So I guess they could have Shinnok using her people to do stuff for him such as how the Deadly Alliance were. It's a yes for me.

I say yes!
She's got a Jubilee kind of power in her moveset.

Yes
Hell yeah for Li Mei. With her primary MK:DA outfit as either her, well, primary, or as an alt. Her armor should be another alt. Hell, let's just bring back every single one of her outfits. Her "brutality" could become her x-ray, and if it still was a fatality, it could come with an x-ray version.
Since it's pretty clear that they're using the new timeline to retcon certain parts of the story, there's no reason Li Mei couldn't be involved more early this time around. Raiden could have a vision of her soul ending up in one of Onaga's dead soldiers, and try to prevent that eventual outcome by recruiting her.
Storywise, they haven't done much with Li Mei, so they should have plenty of freedom developing her character. They could establish a connection between her and a character she wasn't previously associated with, the same way Stryker and Kabal were revealed to not only know one another prior to the invasion, but to be partners, as well.

I definitely say "yes" to Li Mei. She could easily be developed into a protagonist role, especially if she's teamed up with the likes of characters such as Bo' Rai Cho and Kai.
