I'm liking some of the ideas for Kai. It seems that he's probably up there in popularity for one of the MK4-MKA generation. Let's hope he does make a comeback.
One question though. Why does everyone hate his Armageddon attire? I actually like the dreads, but it seems a lot of people hate them. I felt he looked off with the regular hair. I didn't really like it. It seemed too trimmed for me, and when I think of Kai's character I think of Tribal influence and the dreads kind of gave me that feel. I like his old attire better though. The attire from MK4, but I hope he keeps the dreads from MKA.

My problem with Kai's look in MKA wasn't with his dreads but with his costume and build. I like the idea of Kai being tall and lanky, having a lean, muscular build. The costume he had in MKA came off as a bit boring and bland, especially in contrast to his classic costume.
If Kai is going to be revamped and better developed, I think we should eventually see a sort of sage-like costume for him. I kind of like the idea of him eventually developing into some kind of mentor/martial arts master.

That's what a lot of people want for Kai, but I actually think that Monkey Kung Fu makes much more sense for him with the Chinese martial arts theme and the handstand.

Yeah,I can seem Monkey style work for him,but honestly,I think we need our own equivalent of Eddy Gordo/Christie Monteiro from Tekken or Elena from Street Fighter. And plus, capoeira style is so aesthetically cool looking, that I think it is a must.
But again,if they did Monkey Kung Fu,I won't be against it.

I think turning Kai into a capoeira based character is a really bad idea. Why turn him into something cliche when he is already someone unique? He is a Nepali/Black American ex military ex shaolin monk traveller- warrior, you can't get more original than that. Granted he needs a bit of work and development in his move sets when he makes his return, but you don't need to revamp him or give him a completely different background and fighting style. If anything I think his fighting style should be based on a variety of Asian martial arts with a bit more emphasis on some military techniques and various Kung fu styles, especially the flourishing northern styles. His specials could revolve around his fireballs, Gurkha knife and some hand stand moves, which could even be a stance similar to Liu Kang's dragon stance in MK9.

Kai...
Such a deep character in the sense. An astounding monk, but a tribesman himself. I would love to see Kai make a comeback in the next game. He could be so re-vamped. I would actually want him using a monk styled martial art, aside from Capoeria. Tai Chi, Shaoilin Fist, Val Tudo could even work. I want to see Kai be more of his own character, instead of being just this little add-in for MK4 who barely ever shows up again.

If Kai's fighting style were to have Capoeira influences, they should be minor, because honestly, it'd be too predictable for him to be that Capoeira type fighter. It doesn't really make sense with his story since he trained under Liu Kang. Really, this idea comes down to him being African American and using handstand attacks. While that kind of makes sense, again, it's too predictable. If he's going to have some kind of African martial arts influence, I'd rather see influences from a style like Dambe, which is a type of boxing/kickboxing from Nigeria.

Time to update again guys.
This time it's Reiko.
Reiko get's a yes from me. I see no reason why he couldn't play a very important part especially since he will be working with Shinnok and is in the brotherhood of shadow. So i say Yes to Reiko.
Fujin: Yes

NO. I do not like Reiko. His story is just "lackey". He's a big dreamer who one day hopes to take shao Kahn's place. Reiko has not yet proven to me his worth.

I vote for Reiko to be the new emperor of Outworld this time! No more Shao Kahn!

Yeah, but to be fair. Reptil, Baraka, Sheeva are all lackeys as well. With Shao Kahn dead I think Reiko could really find his niche with trying to conquer Outworld. Maybe in the end he would even turn on Shinnok to get his way.

I'm with Immortal_Kanji on this one...or something like it. Reiko was another one of those MK4 characters that i gravitated towards but, he ended up being another fruitless tree for me. I thought for sure that after MK4 Reiko was next up to bat as the big boss. He looked like a good start and, I was looking for the very sort of transformation that they teased us with back then.
In my mind Reiko should have been the guy that grows in to the next big threat. Right now I'd like them to reintroduce him to us similarly, but instead of sitting him on the shelf, take him through some visible trials and tribulations on his journey to becoming one of the next bosses.
I don't think we would have needed to go with the Dragon King idea (although I thought that was cool...) had they treated Shinnok, and other smaller sized, normalized bosses better as threats. I accepted Onaga alot easier because I understood that they probably couldn't get the more puny-looking bosses to be big enough threats. So I felt like they had compensated to make up for Shinnoks lackluster performance with Onaga.
But yea...I vote Yes on Reiko. Give him another shot, and make him more important to the things that are bad that are going on....at least.

A huge YES for Reiko from me! I absolutely loved his gameplay in both, MK4 and MKA. Love his pop-up flip kick and I don't want to see that move anymore as part Li Mei's moves list as well! His throw animation in MKA was so badass! I would love to see that one back, although it seems like throw animations change often in MK. I also love his updated looks (primary costume) in Armageddon. Finally, his Konquest appearance in MKA was very intriguing. It seems he has some issues with Quan Chi, wonder what's that all about. His Konquest arena was my favorite Konquest arena- Reiko's War Room. I definitely wouldn't mind him taking over Outworld.

I'd say that Reiko should come back. If he does become the Emperor of Outworld, it shouldn't happen right away. I like the idea of Outworld being thrown into a sort of civil war for control of Outworld, with Reiko being one of the powers trying to take over. He could be under Shinnok as a means of being able to secure Outworld. Shinnok himself would really only be interested in Earth anyway.
Gameplay-wise, he has cool moves. Instead of his shoulder attack from MKA, he could have his thrust kick fatality from MK4 be turned into a special move. His fighting style should give him that feel of being an expert in the battlefield. If they were to incorporate weapon attacks for him, he could use something like a Zweihander or a Skull Mace.

I've been posting images of each character and how I feel they should look.
Here is an image for Reiko from deviantart. I have to give it to some of these artists they are amazing.
Also here is the link to how I would want Fujin to look. It's actually done by a user on this site named EmperorKahn. That dudes got some seious talent.

Fujin: YES
Jarek: NO
Kai: YES
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Plot-wise Reiko could be a Netherrealm spy/mole/informant secretely working to weaken Outworld from within. He could always try to go rogue and take power for himself as well like for a personal ending too.
Gameplay: A few moves taken from Shao Kahn would be kinda neat. But just two or three moves at the most since uniqueness is crucial.

Mix his moves with Shao Kahn's. Let him be the next Shao Kahn.
When's the next character? Oh and about Kai... should his powers be fire still?

No. There are already enough characters with fire abilities. To me, Kai comes off as a character whose abilities are largely centered around his martial arts abilities. He can have his handstand moves, his two kick specials from Armageddon, his flying punch move from MK4, and a couple of new specials. Perhaps one of them could involve using the Kukhri knife he used in MK4.

Fujin: Yes. he is my 4th favorite mk character so i def want him back. like to see his flying knee back.
Jarek: No. he was the only character i disliked in mk4. he just felt off. if they could revamp him to make him different then i change my answer to yes. but if not then i say no.
Kai: Yes. he was very enjoyable in mk4 but in mka felt lacking. maybe it was the hanstand move that made me like playing as him.
Reiko: Yes. he is quite fun and his look feels very excutioner like. i always thought he should be abit more built and not move as fast.
