I'm still thinking that characters like Erran, Rain, Baraka and Johnny aren't really being counted. Erran was tucked away pretty neatly, and the rest were barely visible. We found them because we're the fanbase that analyzes everything, but the casual fans probably didn't even know there was a bow guy until today.

What I'm saying is that it was said there would be five reveals in the trailer. Shinnok, Mileena, Takeda, Jacqui and Kung Jin were all pretty explicit. The rest were present, but I doubt they count as "reveals."

Real talk: I love how Rain has been described as a `loyalist`in regards to Mileena`s faction. Knowing about his heritage, it makes perfect sense that he`d throw in with Mileena; the way he sees it, Kahn`s `real` daughter has every right to the throne, much in the way he feels entitled to the legacy of Argus.

Of course, he`d absolutely plot to kill her and claim that throne for himself too, but that`s why we love him.

It wouldn't have made sense for him to be team Kotal anyway, 'cause we all know he'd then betray them somewhere down the line and just be Tanya with a penis.

I wouldn't call Kano a Mileena loyalist at all. In the trailer he's clearly betraying her location to Kotal. Kano's an opportunist through and through.

I'm guessing the blink and you miss it characters that can only be seen if you paused it weren't in any way meant to be "reveals", just like they weren't "reveals" in the challenge tower videos we saw a month or so ago. They're likely just there to yank our fanboy strings and make our speculation senses tingle.

I think it seems like a no-brainer that the five mentioned will be playable, but in addition to them, there's no way in hell Erron isn't playable. The character is just too unique and stands out too much to be someone they designed to be an NPC/Background player.

I'm also liking Rain and Johnny's odds based on new models. Baraka and Sindel... are likely screwed.

Another thing to point out regarding Rain: they let him have his old costume in the comic, but in MKX he has an entirely new one. I don't want to scream "Rain confirmed" yet, but I think we shouldn't gloss over it either, otherwise why not just give him his old costume in the game? Or the new costume in the comic?

Yeah. I don't understand the point of remaking a costume that he used a long time ago when they could've used his last model. I'm thinking he's going to be playable.

Sindel's chances of making the MKX roster have been slim to none from the start, despite her Bronsoning of the MK9 cast. She'll probably have a notable role in the story mode, however.

also Rain's oufit in this trailer is different than any other outfit, the armguards alone don't match anything from his previous outfits and he's showing a lot more skin

but shinnok, johnny, mileena, and erron black were all seen in new outfits too(well erron doesnt count but could be playable is my point)

This is why we told you not to freak out and have a meltdown from the comic where he gets fried. He's a water-demigod, and Rain would be ashamed by the thought you would think that would kill him.

Rain couldn't even make the final cut in the initial MK9 roster despite being in UMK3. Him appearing in the story mode is already a blessing for his fans IMO. Assuming he is playable is definitely jumping the gun IMO. Not saying it won't happen but you're possibly setting yourself up for massive dissapointement if you think he is a lock.

Noob and Smoke are far more popular than him and there's no words of either of them so far, so again, count your blessings if all he has is a story mode cameo.

Confirmed or not (personally think he IS), I knew he would have more to contribute to the story. Boon's cryptic tweet should have been enough proof of that, as well as the happenings in the comics. I almost got a write-up at work today because I was "wasting time" hyping about this thread, as well as watching the video. Good times.

I officially now have my top 5 favorite characters in the game. And you can bet your ass that they're all "ninjas". Reptile, Rain, Ermac, Scorpion, and Sub-Zero.

During the Supreme MK tourney last year, I was checking my phone while at work so many times that I lost count and my battery would usually be drained before the end of my shift. It was also the first time I ever went over my allowed data in any given month.

Honestly, if you look at his boot alone, there's just too much detail in there for him to just be a cameo in story. I'm pretty sure he's playable. If they didn't want him to be, then they could've just killed him off in the comics or gave him his MK9 costume again. Also, the only thing similar to his MKA outfit is just the ponytail hair. That's almost like looking at the wraps around Ermac's head and going "That's too similar to a previous outfit, he's not playable."

No, four were mentioned in the press release to be playable and they were Kung Jin, Jacqui, Mileena and Takeda. Ed Boon said they were five and I guessed the one in addition to the four that are already mentioned would be Erron Black considering he appears far too many times to be just a cameo character and that he is in the Black Dragon faction. I do not think Rain is playable at all.

Well, from a business standpoint - why would you not holdout the more popular characters for dlc?

They knew Kenshi would sell well, just like they know Smoke and Noob would.

Its hard to say who is and who isnt playable, that trailer was full of edited cut scenes and flashbacks.
Honestly I dont think rain makes the playable roster, I think kotal will destroy him.
