Not much of a rain fan but he makes for a much much better addition the mass of earth realm warriors we are looking like getting. Has ed boon actually deconfirmed rain for MKX? Cause all these tweets about him are pretty cruel to his fans if he's not actually in!

He basically only deconfirmed him as being DLC. He never said he wouldn't be on the main roster.

I think Rain is not much of a risk, very much in line with non-unique characters and not really evil, but since he's on Mileena side, f it. If it wasn't for the story, I think nobody would even care for Rain. He was created as a joke to begin with.

And Ermac was a bug or Reiko was a scrapped Noob Saibot. Yet they've grown to be their own characters despite what their initial origin was. Your point?

The only reason it's still relevant is because people keep bringing it up. Rain is no longer a joke to NRS. That was the ORIGIN story, just like Tanya was originally Kitana in MK4. It does not matter at this point. Otherwise they would have let him croak by now, or just completely brush him off.

MK9 Rain was absolutely fantastic. They did it right with that one.

People who keep bringing up Rain being a joke seem to forget that is exactly how Noob and Ermac started out: as jokes. Losing to Noob was considered so pathetic that Shao Kahn told players they officially sucked if they did. Years later, he's revealed to be the older Sub-Zero.

Ermac's UMK3 story and ending were referring to the rumors surrounding the character. He already became a more serious character by MKT, and now might have Shao Kahn's soul inhabiting him.

Admittedly, Rain didn't accomplish as much as these two (which is to be expected since he's made fewer appearances), but he was revealed in MKA to be the half-brother of Daegon and Taven, thus an half-god himself. And as was already said, he dropkicks Kotal off a roof at some point in MKX's story. He hasn't done so badly for a character fans seem to think is as much of a joke as Mokap.

You do realize the game is going gold any day now? They wouldn't have time to just "throw him in last minute". There's multiple variations that have to be planned out. You have no basis for your accusation.

They were trying to get as much in as possible before release. I don't buy that though, if it is true, then we will just get more DLC meaning more dollars for them.

like i said in the last page of this thread, I always believed Rain was most likely a Unlockable secret character in the game , but they might of changed him into a day one character.

It's actually painful how many people think that leaked roster is legit.

I think Rain is in, and he always has been in. At the very least they are keeping their "holy shit" cards close to their chest.

Well, it's always best to go in with low expectations that way if its wrong, you can be blown away. That's the way I see it anyway.

LOL its been a roller coaster for Rain fans. they been losing their minds. from ed boon tweets, then story trailer. that umkuniverse kid on twitter who "leaked" the photos, saying he got the inside scoop confirming rain , then deconfirming rain to get youtube views. they just wanna hear something official lol . sad part is im a big rain fan myself so i kinda understand they are a little untight

Don't forget his appearance in the comic when we thought Kotal killed him! Then Kittlesen tweeting that he's not dead.
