Any of the silhouettes MK4-MKD? Which of them?

I also heard that one of the figures is ninja turtle and it would make sense that it is reptile but on the image I found he wasn't in there. As for the guy next to Magneto:

yeeeeh i definately see some good theories in here lmao keep them coming, The unicorn all the way on the left is probably Goro cuz they have four legs goro four arms, Half life 3 confirmed.

I know that Ed Boon said that some of the character silhouettes are false and he's trolling us, but he also said there is some truth behind some of those characters. Look at the ones I've highlighted in the picture above (bad editing skills, apologies), and look below to the comparisons:


Reptile (MK1 hoodie)
Why Reptile and not another ninja? I know many of us have our favorite ninja other than Scorpion and Subzero, but face it, Reptile is third most famous. He was the hidden character in MK1, and that was his first appearance. The silhouette appears to be wearing an MK1 ninja style hoodie.


Baraka (Barack Obama)
Baracka Obama... We've heard that before... right? Who else would be more fitting in a dark tone setting of Mortal Kombat? Baraka is the most viscous character of MK's past.


Kung Lao (Rorschach)
The hat is the most obvious hint that they are referring to Kung Lao. He was arguably one of the best characters in MK9, and top MK player's MK_Perfect Legend's unstoppable force.


Sektor(Terminator)
Well, not entirely sure if this could be a reference to either Sektor or Cyrax, but most likely Sektor due to his destructive nature. Sektor was a killing machine even before he became a cyborg, and voluntarily chose the cyber initiation. Terminators are destroyers, killing machines.

Terminator is tough because he could be either a cyborg or Kano. Id lean more towards Kano.

And I think Rorschach could be either Kung Lao or Raiden. Hats yo. Id lean more towards Raiden, just because Ed's mentioned him a few times.


Lego guy, if accurately matched, is NOT Cyrax. Maybe Liu Kang? Dumb heroes that save the day. Who knows?

Most of those silluettes look really human, male and BORING, I really hope they are fake!

Some things look awesome tho, like the skeletal character!

Please Ed Boon, the game is so fantastic now, don't spoil it with Jax, Sonya, Johnny and other such human waste.

I dislike the normal humans, they are pretty boring to me.

5 or so I don't mind, but an entire roster full of normal Sonya's and Johnny's I wouldn't survive.

You can play that boring game Tekken if you like humans that much.

Well I'm not surprised about the silhouettes not being accurate since they lack anything resembling Raiden and we all know that he's going to be back.

Also, the inclusion of at least one MK4 fighter. I'm guessing that he means somebody who's not Quan Chi since he was in the last title. Shinnok was also confirmed from the end of MK9 which is who I'm guessing will return. Mostly since I don't think that anyone REALLY wants to see Jarek, Kai or Meat return. I mean, he could have been alluding to Tanya, Reiko or Fujin and I'd be happy to see them back if Shinnok is a non-playable final boss.

As for there being more or less than 24, I'm not sure what to think. Maybe we'll get a roster of 20 since balancing the different fighting styles for each character seems like it'll be difficult, maybe we'll get more at launch if the team has time but I'm just going to guess that 24 seems to what the team is shooting for.

Also, regarding everyone who died in MK9 who isn't named Sub-Zero, I'm pretty sure that those will be saved for DLC. They'll probably appear in story mode but won't be playable.

Now as for there being more new characters in this title than other installments, that probably means more new fighters than MK4 and later. That means we're looking at twelve or more new fighters making the cut. I'm guessing this is why 24 isn't the final number for the initial roster since this is a pretty crazy number and we at least know that we're getting some returning faces as well. (Scorpion and Sub-Zero were confirmed and Sonya, Ermac, Raiden, Johnny Cage, Quan Chi and Shinnok were all hinted at in one way or another). Since all but one of those was a playable character in the last game, I'm going to assume that we may either see a bigger initial roster or a LOT of DLC. That or it's just 12 new fighters + the ones I just mentioned and we only get 20 with the last four slots being placeholders.

My money is on waiting to see how this plays out since it sounds like NRS is engaging in some misdirection here and they want to keep this game a surprise. I wouldn't be shocked if we don't get any new reveals until launch just to ensure a fresh experience.

Among the ones who aren't undead, that's just Sonya, Cage, Kenshi and Kano. Cyrax and Sektor don't count since they're cyborgs. And for the record, I don't see Kai, Kobra, Kira, Hsu Hao, Jarek, Mokap, Frost or Mavado returning. Everyone else can make a return without aging too much.

And I really want to see old Kenshi. Him as a grizzled, old wandering swordsman would be so cool to see, preferably with grey stubble.

Old Kano would also be cool. I'm not sure how he'd look though. Maybe he'd become more of a cyborg. Maybe he'd be this bearded old man like Shang Tsung. There's a lot that can be done to make him cooler. I hope that NRS surprises me.

Old Cage and Sonya would just be for closure since Cassie can replace both moving forward.

Now as for the dead fighters who aren't named Sub-Zero as well as Shao Kahn's army from Outworld who aren't named Ermac, I hope that they take a break for one game. Have this be something like Garou: Mark of the Wolves, Street Fighter III, Tekken III, Soul Calibur V or Art of Fighting 3. This is the installment where most of the cast gets cut to introduce new ideas and see which work. More importantly, it's not goodbye since Tekken 4 and Street Fighter IV brought back a lot of old favorites and Boon has promised cameos in X.

There was never such thing as "too many humans" in MK. Every installation has had a good balance between humans (who need to be there to defend Earthrealm after all) and characters from other realms.

Well with Sheeva now being one with earthrealm (if only non-canon) there is one human less and one shokan more defending earthrealm.

You seen to forget that characters like Sub Zero, Kabal, Cyrax, Sektor, Smoke, Frost, Nightwolf, Shang Tsung, etc, are all characters that originate from/have defended Earthrealm. Most of them don't even appear human and have superpowers but they still originate from Earthrealm. I wouldn't call them boring or human waste to be honest.

Human Waste = Sonya Blade, Johnny Cage, Jax (not really cuz I like his arms), Stryker and such characters.

The others have special things going on and I like them.

Few humans are alright, but mostly I find them bland and boring. (Cassie Cage is one of the few I really like)

3/60+ characters isn't much tho...

Kung Lao is human too, but he has something to make him unique (his hat)

I don't like humans like Sonya, just blond cops that have nothing interesting (for me personally) going on in their design. They remind me of Tekken, a fighting game I would never like.

I just hope many of the new characters are monsters, outworlders, Edenians and other such characters and that earthrealm has a less big role in the new story.

As if we're going to be seing Kobra and Jarek again...You complain alot about these human characters when there are so few. Nothing wrong with a varied roster...you'll have plenty of freaks to chose from.

I just KNEW you would mention Kobra, Kira, Mokap, etc. Do you really think we are ever goona see those characters again? You were talking about humans that make the games boring. If we are talking seriously, then the only characters that match your descrption should be the ones that have appeared in multiple games. And those 4 you mentioned have appeared in 1, and chances are we're never gonna see them again.
So the fact that you don't like Cage and Sonya (which I can understand since I am not a fan either) doesn't mean ALL the Earthrealm characters/humans are boring.

I hope you are right, I would shrudder when we see another Jax (from mk2) character among the list as Cassie Cage needs a parter, so Jax also had a child, even when he was killed by Sindel.
