We will find out at E3 if the game is 2.5D, and if it's not, he's lying, but if it is, I'm going to have to trust him for future games.

They hardly revealed anything. All they've revealed are Jax, Sonya, Sub-Zero (briefly), Scorpion and Shang Tsung as characters with backstory to Baraka and Reptile. That still leaves many unknowns including how the city got to its breaking point, Jax/Sonya/Scorpion/Tsung's origins, the background of the tournament, any other characters we haven't heard from or seen (like Mileena, Kitana, Kahn, Kung Lao, Kano, Stryker, Jade, Kabal, Noob Saibot....) and we've only seen one small fight, we haven't even seen Reptile do some nasty damage to some poor soul yet. All we've seen him do is pull his lunch out of the refrigerator and have a little snack.

That's nothing compared to the bits they show in big blockbuster trailers. The trailers for Dark Knight, Mission Impossible III, hell even some comedies and A LOT of superhero movies end up showing too much and ruining the movie for a lot of people.

They can be pretty silly, I agree. Assassin's Creed 2's mini-movie however was a nice touch. I liked it as it gave some backstory to the main character and pretty much acted as a quick prequel.

But I also agree there is too much anger in this thread from some people which really isn't needed. MK as a franchise is always going to be looking to head into new directions. Some will be drastic, some won't.

I'm also a Bond fan and they are getting ready to follow the films by rebooting the novels (of which there are over 40 of) and it pisses me off a bit as I own all the books and like them lots more over the films, but a franchise has to grow and I, as a fan, am not going to like every direction it heads. I take it with stride, read the originals and hope for the best from the upcomings projects.

Same with MK. I will continue to play MKII and Deception (my favorites) and continue to hear out news about this extended trailer into an alternate take of MK whether its for a game or a movie or both. I'll just consider it an "alternate dimension" like in the comic worlds.

HOLY. S***I went out, came back here thinking ahh I doubt they'll be any news yet..but hey i'll have a quikc look...well, and then theres THIS. I'm so shocked.

At first I thought hmmmm not too sure, but it started to grow on me. But damn this is crazy. I knew they were going back to the roots and getting gritty. but DAMN. what the hell!? was not expecting this in the slightest. Now I think about it, it is growing on me.

Still has to be legit, and I take it thats what the desciptions of all those actors need for MK9 characters were for then, well im guessing. I just can't wait till E3! AHHHH. oh and everyone looked cool, but Baraka's face...hmm could of been better. only complain design wise. Reptile looks scary as hell!

If it's a movie or a viral video for a game or movie with a game tie in... Whatever, I don't care. This looks AWESOME. It's dark, gritty, realistic (I mean c'mon, Baraka in this video is a MILLION times cooler than the one in the 2nd MK movie).

Anyone that's mad or fighting or whatever, just relax. Let's sit back and speculate on this. It's SO exciting to finally see something!

Oh, and I don't know about you, but if this were a teaser trailer, wouldn't SOME company's name be attached to it? Wow, this is so strange, and yet so exciting!!

Movies would have their company's name attached. Mostly at the very beginning before anything plays, we would see what company produced the movie... That's a big key in the whole "movie" situation.

From the trailer when Johny Cage fights Baraka did you notice that he uses objects from the enviroments (bottles) to hit Baraka? Do you think that there will be enviroment interaction in the battles if this is a teaser of the game? Just a thought... It reminds me of the Bourne game's take downs...

Now, I don't know, I mean I acutally am not a huge fan of the "Dark Knight" grit, Batman begins bored me and in the Dark Knight I thought the Joker was alright, Batman himself bores me. So I don't see "grit" and go "yay"

I also loved some of the campiness of MK mythos, but at the same time. I'm glad they really are ending it with MK: Armageddon, becasue the whole story had gotten way too off track and bit more silly than it should be. But still, I'd have loved if they just scraped everything after MK1 and continued that way.

The fighting here is understandable. Mortal Kombat wasn't just gore, it was silly gore. People have been discussing the story for a long time and even if some of it was horrible, some of it was awesome. I can see why people are angry becasue it's like that's all gone.

But let's face it, stories end. The problem is that Armageddon ended nothing at all. In fact, it was a huge cliffhanger with the usual tons of possible endings. I mean, they should have had the balls to have every fighter die and put "The End" on that book if this will really be the next game.

Gore, Fantasy, A game that doesn't take itself too seriously, Ninja, and the hate of Cage. Those five factors are pretty much the core pillars of MK in my eyes. I think one problem is it looks like that people so far only see three of those in this video.

I am excited by this, as I mean. MK: Armageddon had everyone for a reason, we all kind of expected it to be the end of the era in some fashion. And of course some people will always hate the new change. That's not bad, it just means you are more attached to the old games. Thankfully they will always exist. Others will love this, and eventually I'm sure a good portion of the people complaining will start to at least be interested in it. I am, becasue new takes on old things is always interesting. But the game play will always be the deciding factor, the story is just the way to keep people buying. The change in the story is thus a problem for people for that reason as well.

Sub-Zero, I like that one of the brothers is dead already. The two brothers storyline is known and doing that again is a waste of time. But which brother died? I wonder if Scorpion killed the younger brother this time. That would be interesting. Scorpion seems keen on killing this Sub-Zero and shocked that the other wasn't his target. I'd like this on the grounds that they can become foes again.

Cage, T.T WHY DO YOU ALWAYS PICK ON HIM! Well, at least he got a live action fight scene. Mokap, You must shock everyone by being in this and killing that doctor ugly!

Jax, Thank god.

Sonya, Not a lot of showing, and I'm going to wait for her Kano story. She seems to be her old self again for the most part.

Reptile, Meh... It's interesting, and I don't hate it. I just hope he gets more than "I'm ugly, I kill" But I just wish he could be that mysterious ninja again...

Scorpion, The favorite son of the Ed Boon. I'm fine with him finally being admitted to being the hero. Let's face it, Boon has been moving that way for a long time. He's the favorite character, so instead of demanding a main character that Ed Boon has little care for, we might as well enjoy Scorpion the way he does and hope it pays off.

Oh, He's still a ghost. He moved those cuffs off of him, and Boon wouldn't change his favorite guy that much.

Shang Tsung, I kinda refuse to belive that everything is the way this video sets it. They said that Shang Tsung was behind Baraka and Reptile. I think were going to see some of that fantasy that seems to be missing. Mortal Kombat will proabaly still have the same purpose, and that will be a twist.

Others, I want to see the old Liu Kang as supporting characters. I'd love for Frost to just be an apprentice, Smoke, The human versions of Cyrax and Sektor. I don't think they should be playable, but I think that Liu Kang shouldn't just be a name attached to one character.

And I want to see Scorpion's family for once! Even in flashback...

One thing, Is Kano is proabaly going to fit into this new thing just perfectly.

That's essentially what a reboot is. It is the resetting of a franchise, with a new light on the whole thing and a new telling of the story. A remake is where everything stays the same, and they tell the same story.
