He should be, in the original timeline he appeared in a greatly diminished state, a husk of his former self. Now it seems he retained his power as an Elder God, the only way to contain him is to somehow seal him in obscure realms, momentary solutions. He only resorts to cunning and scheming because he cannot act directly, I believe an unchained Shinnok should be way above Shao Khan's level in this timeline.

I disagree. The Kamidogu have been very prominent in the comics, as is the amulet, and those items obviously play a big role in the game's story mode going off of the trailer.

How disappointing if Reiko and Havik don't make it into the game now!! I know the comic author has discussed how he was given free reign to select cameo's to suit his own story, but just goes to show how provocative and interesting this pair are to MK fans.

I think I was the first person on the internet to suggest Havik may be the final boss, I'll be resurrecting that thread if it's so -- :P

My faith in NRS at this stage is still a little damaged, so expectations are basement low. Bit more hope after this though!! Amazing comic.

...Reiko and Havik should both be in MKX, the games lacking a lot of villains. I know Havik is considered "neutral", but he's no different than Quan Chi in my eyes in terms of motive and betrayal, in fact he's much more unpredictable.

Well he did go from Shao Kahn then Mileena. In the bedroom scene where Mileena is "licking" him, Reiko looks bored.

I found out what Kano was doing wrong. Instead of bringing D'Vorah flowers and chocolates, he should have brought her lizards. Of course.

So there are 7 daggers floating around Raiden. Raiden entrusted them to heroes to keep them safe. He says they are all accounted for now except the one Sub Zero has. So where are the others? I can only think of 4: The one scorpion had, the one Raiden has, the one Sub Zero has, and the one Kotal has (It confirms his dagger as a Komidogu in the prelude text in the new comic). That leaves 3 daggers that we haven't seen yet. Am I missing any?

Outstanding issue. I'm sad about Mavado tho. I actually liked him, and Dexter Soy's art made him look awesome. He also had the hookswords, so hopefully KabaL is dead as well.

Reiko and Havik now seem way too important to the whole story to be killed off. I mean, they just mentioned Reiko can become the blood god. That red smoke is definitely tied to that and Havik + Chaosrealm are mentioned so much that it cannot just be a simple comic issue or two and then kill both off. Reiko has been in pretty long now too.

This issue was definitely planned to be out just before this new story trailer, I am confident they will show some footage relating to Havik and Reiko's story. Shinnok's part is so small, yet he gets a new model and is probably playable. Would be really messed up of NRS to keep them out of it.

Well, I seem to have a few ideas where this is going... How can something decently written work so hard to make me not follow it?
