I dunno. I feel like it would cheapen her a bit. Just from a personal standpoint, one of the things I like about Li Mei is that she's basically just a peasant from a god-forsaken realm who's reached her threshold. The invasion of the Deadly Alliance is the last straw and she bravely rises up to protect her quaint life and fellow villagers from their machinations.

She's a relatable, simple hero; a champion for the hopeless and dominated Outworlders who've been under the heel of one warlord after another. Making her yet another Earthrealmer just feels like missed opportunity to explore the blight of Outworld imo.

Just my thoughts on the matter, tho.

Li Mei isn't a worse character than Jade or Mileena.

Li Mei could try to defend her realm from the Netherealm armies during the post MK9 period. Makes sense and an easy way to include her.


Also lol at Skarlet having a personality. I like her but she's a blank slate that'll probably stay that way.

Jade and Mileena are way better characters (movesets, storywise etc) and are much more iconic. They put Li Mei to shame.

No way, I like that she's an Outworld villager. Her origins are perfect the way they are, leave the Mileena treatment out of it.

I really like her current story, and I would love to see that implicated in MKX - with the 25 year time line we could get one hell of a war going on as a decent subplot.

I'm not holding out too much hope for her making it in the game though. As much as I want her in, there is limited space on the roster, and I think the team will favour other characters over her.

I don't want Li Mei in and I don't want her to change into a human, the outworld part is the only part I can live with.

Maybe I get a daydream about Li Mei next, turning her into a more interesting character for myself just like I did with Kobra, Kai and Kira... but that probably have to wait as I dislike Li Mei more than all other 3D area characters combined spare for Mokap which I don't count as serious character at all.

I really dislike her being a tekken-like asian girl and I dislike her name, those two things can't be changed so I don't think i'll ever give a F about her, even if I daydream 100 times about her.

The only thing retconned about Mileena were aspects of her personality and the intentions behind her creation and the date of which she emerged from the flesh pits and her reveal to Kitana. At her core she is still Mileena.

If you took Li Me out of Outworld turned her into an earthling that would just be making Li Me a completely different character.

I would much prefer they brought her back but gave her a more prominent role. Make her the leader of an outworld uprising alongside Bo Ria Cho.

I see everyone willing to dismiss the post MK4 character but oh my god people, there is so much potential there and it would be so easy to retool these characters into ones that work much better. I of course am mainly speaking of the Deception characters.
