Sub-Zero and Frost have a son make it happen NRS

It seems that the garb of Sub-Zero is passed down from generation from generation, and I find that to be quite interesting.

As you can see, we're already naming Sub-Zeros by their actual names. A third Sub-Zero should not be off-putting. In fact, I'm very excited to see who this new Sub-Zero is.

I must say, however, that Ed Boon doesn't have the slightest idea of what he's talking about, saying there's been many Sub-Zeros throughout the series. There's only been two. lol

Yeah, I don't get why Sub-Zero fans can't complain about their character, but others can? Makes no sense. Looking at it that way is almost hipster-ish. Like eww those guys like Sub-Zero they don't get to have an opinion because they like a popular character. It's bull is what it is.

Anyway, I hope this is Kuai. It's obviously A Sub-Zero that knows Scorpion, but I can't say which one. I will say that with his style being grandmaster and he responding to Scorpion (I tire of maintaining our innocence) leads me to believe it could be Kuai.

I think Quan has pulled the same shit be pulled in MK4 and turned Scorps against Kuai as well (hence why he responded how he did to Scorpion).

It pisses me off that Boon says Oh it's just a name. Well, it's a family name damn it. Not just some random dude can be Sub-Zero. It's how they could explain Subz being immortal. However, since it is a family name one of the brothers needs to have a kid. As much as I love Kuai I could move on if I knew his kid was taking up the role.

It would finally end the "Is it Kuai or Bi-Han?" shit.

That being said, they really shit all over Sub-Zero in the last game and Kuai deserves to have some redemption after it.

Also No Noob Saibot should not be Sub-Zero again. I've explained the fact that Noob Saibot is literally the exact character Bi-Han fans want (evil as shit). They are just being selfish wanting his ass to be Sub-Zero again as well. Why? So, he can be Scorpion's punching bag? That's all Bi-Han's version is good for. He literally is carrying a rivalry which should be dead. He's a MUCH better character as Noob.

He only cares about Scorpion. I just want it to be the YSZ because he means more to me, and id argue that most people prefer that too. The people who are against are in the minority im sure of that.

I think people are finding it hard to be empathetic because you guys have it soooo easy. Sub-Zero and Scorpion have been and will be in every game! Meanwhile, we're all facing the big possibility our favorites will never be seen again.

My ultimate favorites are Kung Lao, Cage, and Tanya. I've also been hopeful all these years in seeing Li Mei and Mavado reimagined with the same care MK9 gave the old characters as they are my favorites from the new era. (Kenshi as well, but he has been embraced)

Cage is being sidelined for some stupid clone character, and I'm definitely never seeing 3 of the others again.

Sorry you don't like the way they're portraying one of the only characters they're deciding to keep though.

i hope we see cage and Tanya im certain is going to be in, but lets be honest most majority love sub and scorp, and thats ok there is nothing wrong with being poster boys, and just because they are doesnt mean people aren't allowed to care for them. They are "poster boys" for a reason they are the top dogs in terms of popularity

See though, I care about those characters too. I LOVE Li Mei. She's one of my favorite females in fact right behind Jade she is my favorite. Mavado had an awesome design. His downfall is that he got stuck in the red/black dragon shit and I honestly don't believe anyone cares about those groups. Like at all. He's one of the best of the 3D era IMO though. I love them both and would tell Boon a million times over that they deserve another chance.

It sucks when people won't do the same shit for Kuai being Sub-Zero. Boon having that lazy ass attitude of Sub-Zero is a name just justifies his ass being in the game. Might as well just let Scorpion kill one every damn sequel and then bring in a new one every game with that line of thought. Just say Oh yeah this is Sub-Zero. He's here because it's Mortal Kombat and people expect him to be.

Meanwhile Boon is jacking off to what new shit he can give to Scorpion and thinking of ways to make him the main protagonist. Sub-Zero gets just as fucked over as other characters (being Scorps punching bag, raping his story, taking away his gameplay tools in the last game). Just because he's THERE doesn't mean they aren't fucking his fans. Pay more attention to someone besides Scorpion Boon damn.

I agree, the butthurt haters needs to stop. Although i agree with phishstix17, some characters need a rest from certain games, so everyone gets the chance to be on the spotlight and get love. But no character should be completely whiped out for good, or changed into a different person.

I should clarify that I'm just joking around and don't take MK all that seriously. I thought the face would help make that point.

God thank you someone else that understands, and i agree completely they do deserve another chance. Mavado especially. I just want people to understand the reason we Love Younger Sub, to us it matters. To us its not just a name "Sub-Zero" we grew up on him we are involved, and we love the character.

I'll be honest man, im getting pretty sick of Scorpion's favoritism. I just wish Sub-Zero would kick his ass like he did in MK9 story ( relish that moment). Every character deserves some spot light to show case how awesome they can be.

I'm going to go with the idea of Quan Chi reviving Kuai Liang. Which explains the darker demeanor toward Scorpions.

Also, Ive NEVER been under the impression that only the direct lineage of Kuai and Bi Han were Sub Zero. Im pretty sure you just have to be a cryomancer and perhaps have the Lin Kuei's approval. Frost could have been a Sub Zero if she was worthy and the title vacant. Im pretty sure thats what Ed was talking about and Im looking forward to seeing this explored. Perhaps Kuai trains a new Sub in the future. Its a bit like Batman or something. Its not a man, but a symbol. Haha

I like SZ quite a bit, but it is hard to empathize with either hardcore SZ or hardcore Scorpion fans. Considering out of my favourites, Shang Tsung and Shao Kahn are dead, Raiden is a total jackass and if you think SZ is a punching bag for Scorpion, try being a Reptile fan and watching everyone stomp on him.

Though I suppose at least Cage got laid.

Anyway, I'm interested to see which SZ it is. I think it'll be integral to the plot, Boon was very cagey about giving away which one it is, though I suspect a totally new one. I'd prefer Kuai, but given the 25 year jump, I think NRS will just stick the blue on a new guy and have a new SZ. I hope I'm wrong, I'd love to see KL revived but I don't think NRS share the opinion

subs and scorps are images. which is good because they are the two sacred cows and can always be brought back to life.

Y'know, just the other day I actually took Mythologies off of my shelf because I had a sudden urge to reread the lore in the back of the manual, and I gotta say, for as much shit as I usually give Tobias for MK4, this is the best stuff he's ever written, and no matter how many times I read it, it never fails to reinvigorate my respect for the man.

That's why it was so upsetting to watch NRS fuck with it.

Aside from completely botching Sindel's resurrection, they rewote the backstory of the Sub-Zero brothers to remove any mention of their father or anything else to suggest that the Sub-Zero name has generations of legacy behind it. If you didn't know any better, you could think that the entire Sub-Zero lineage started right there with these two clowns, because there's nothing in the game to suggest otherwise. I suppose the wording in the bio and the vignette was vague enough to allow for the possibility that the canon established by Tobias still applies, but I wouldn't hold my breath at this point.


So let me ask you, then, if it's not Kuai we're seeing here on these screenshots, who the hell else would pick up the mantle?


A new guy?

Sure, I suppose there's nothing really stopping them from fucking up the Mythologies canon even harder.

They could claim that there was nothing inherently unique about the Sub-Zero bloodline, because as it turns out, there's actually a bunch of cryomancers just running around everywhere! I mean, yeah, there was Frost, and we never did figure out what her deal was, so I guess that's a possibility.

Or, alternatively, they could cheapen the entire concept of Kori powers by claiming that one does not have to be born with the ability, and any random fuck could learn and master them if he tried really-really hard.

I'm honestly not sure which is worse.


Bi-Han?

The only reason that the Soulnado thing worked in MKDA is because Scorpion is, at his heart of hearts, not an evil person, and the Elder Gods must have recognized that, or else they would not have made him their Champion and emissary.

Bi-Han is the biggest prick in the MK universe. Why would they bother purifying this asshole's soul and give him an opportunity to redeem himself? He is a villainous bastard, and he's great at it.

Hell, is there anybody here who didn't like him as Noob? So why would anybody want him to fucking backpedal through his entire development back to its starting point?

I just don't understand...

There is no denying that he was by far and away the most developed character in the OT. I'm pretty sure Vogel and the rest of the story guys are aware of that. Just as they're aware of the massive backlash on account of Cyber-Zero. And I think creating a bit of a buzz in the community by relying on shock value certainly wasn't worth throwing away several games worth of character development of one of your A-listers like a used napkin.

Great post! Agree with it fully, I love the lore of MKM, I wish Tobias had stuck around to do something similar for a few of the other characters! MKM is still what gives the series its aura for me.

Unfortunately, I think it'll be a new guy who discovers his powers. Or they might not even explain it and say 'oh its another branch of the family'

I'm not saying to have your worries are wrong, but to post about it now with the rest of the cast and fan favorites not confirmed is a bit of a slap in the face to us who are hoping for their characters to make an appearance who are likely not to be in the game with all this new character bull.

If we are looking at a new Sub, he seems very offended at Scorpion's accusation. That word "our" is very interesting, as though he is speaking for the other Subs. It seems very likely that this Sub, if new, has had quite a lot of contact with at least Kuai. I'm really getting the vibe that Kuai could be this Sub's mentor.

Crackpot Theory---

What if Kuai willingly drops the Sub Zero mantle, and is playable under his own name? The automation would certainly give him a unique moveset, such as in MK9.

Yes I get your point but mileena doesn't run around under some alias so that wouldn't make sense and people would notice. Subzero is in full costume, who knows what he looks like?

Also, if mileena got 1/4 of the treatment spoiled and privelaged subzero has gotten then I would never complain at all. He has been in every game, the only reason this character is in this predicament is because he has been so overused and played out. There are what 60 mk characters but sub and scorp probably get more treatment then the rest combined so why complain.

"New" Sub-Zero is, in fact, Frost having undergone a sex change. The rage which she used on Sub-Zero in the original timeline was caused by repressed gender identity issues. Without Sub-Zero to project her feelings, and ultimately rage onto, Frost was forced to come to terms with the fact that she was a man trapped in a woman's body and underwent gender-reassignment surgery.



Seriously, I'm a loyal Sub-Zero fan, but lighten up. If MK3 suspenders couldn't kill him, nothing can.
