And according to MK9 is was only Kitana and Jade.

I'm gonna have to dissagree. Mileena/Kitana/Jade/Khameleon shared sprites in the 2D games, and Skarlet was a character created from the "Kitana turns red!!" rumor, and she even got MK3 and MK2 skins in MK9.

Had Tanya been in MK9 with classic MK2 and/or MK3 skins, then i would believe the creators see her in the same vein as the rest, but that didn't happen...

Reptile to me is a given, you need that guy in an MK game. Ermac I could totally see because he didn't die, and i'd rather have him than Kenshi. Plus he's got the telekineses that has to make a triumphant return. I honestly only want Smoke to return as a cyborg.

I disagree, because Skarlet was not in any 2D games. She was a rumor. I don't count the costumes in MK9 as any validity. I think that was just part of the novelty of the game.

Skarlet was still an assassin working for Shao Kahn, just like Kitana, Mileena and Jade all were. So in that respect they fit together.

I like Reptile a lot. Hidden in the first, then playable in the second. Something about that just makes him one of my favorites. That said, I don't think they bring him back for this game.

As for Ermac, it's possible given the concept art, but I don't think that's as indicative as others seem to think it is. If I had to guess though, he's probably in.

Other than that, I could definitely see Noob going back to his long time role of hidden character. They really found some ideas that worked for him in the last game, so I could see them expanding on him.

As for the ladies, if love to see Skarlett return with a more fleshed out move set, but in reality, the only one I could see coming back is Mileena and even then, probably as DLC.

You're totally in the right here, sorry you had to deal with this. This is a Mortal Kombat forum; the back story and lore certainly matters. Sub-Zero somewhat resembles a ninja, but he definitely IS NOT (example).

On topic: I don't know if Boon is being as specific as us when he mentions a "ninja" will return, but I hope Reptile makes a return either way.

With regards to MK, when people refer to "The Ninjas" they generally mean the pallette swap male characters from MK-UMK3, regardless of the unique paths those characters.

I mean Sub-Zero is LK and apparently they arent ninjas

I'd love to see cyborg Kitana. its a bad idea and highly unlikely but I've always wished there was a female cyborg ninja (not for the sake of equality though).

Mileena♡ is probably in this. So I hope it's only these two when it comes to females.

Noob and Ermac would also be a great fit for the dark theme of this installment.

But you can't just put Skarlet in with those three, it's sacrilegious. Skarlet is just a DLC.

What if Reptile is in it too, but he's not a "ninja"? As in, he's really devolved and he's not masked (like MKDA). Can't say he's a ninja when he's nothing like a ninja and he's not even masked.

You know, I defended the hell out of Reptile's MKDA design back in the day. I wanted Reptile to look extremely reptilian, and he finally did. Now that the years have passed, I feel like there was a charm to human Reptile that didn't translate to any of the later versions (including the MK9 version).

Maybe it's shallow, but if you asked the child in me from the 90's why I picked Reptile in MK2, it wasn't because he was a zatterian guardian or shit like that; it was because he was green. I liked the color green, and a green ninja was the sickest shit on Earth.

I'm not proposing we should turn Reptile into a palette swap again. They did that in MK9, and I still thought he was a bit boring (crazy gameplay design, though). Just find a way to get that charm back. Find the best of both worlds in this game.
