I'd say all of them started as ninjas but most of them evolved into something else. Ermac headed more to a mystic kinda look and Reptile...well look at his MKDA look. Technically no one can be considered a ninja anymore besides Scorpion but they call the original palette swaps ninjas just coz they started that way imo. Oh and btw the Lin Kuei aren't ninjas.

I'd go Ermac before Reptile because Ermac's almost always been a more significant character from a story standpoint. I love Reptile and all, hope he makes the cut, but he's never been more than a lackey in-story.

Looking at the other former palette swaps, I'd say there's a 99% chance we won't be seeing Smoke, and that percentage dips a bit (but not much) when referring to Noob and Rain.

It's always a debate who is a ninja and who isn't. In the true term of the word, Scorpion is the only one who is a ninja, at least when he was alive. Now he is more a hellspawn than a ninja though.

Some people will argue that in MK lore, the Lin Kuei invented Ninjutsu, but as shown several times in the lore, the Lin Kuei do not want to be called ninjas. They are warriors and assassins, but not ninjas.

However, without being technical, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Reptile, Noob, Smoke, Ermac, Rain, Sektor, Cyrax, Chameleon, Khameleon, Kitana, Mileena, Jade, Frost, Skarlet and even Tanya are referred to as ninjas. All of them, besides Tanya, wear masks and apparently that is enough to be called a ninja by some. Tanya is called a ninja because she wears something similar to the other female Edenians which are Kitana, Mileena and Jade, but she is in no way a ninja otherwise.

But people don't care, so... I will just drown in my own blood instead. ^^

MK4 Reiko could also be considered a true ninja. He does use shurikens and is very fast after all.

I think Ermac is a big candidate (and I hope for something close to that "fanart" by their own concept artist). He being made of souls and one of them King Jerrod and all that stuff... it has a lot of potential and I really like how they're making him an imposing and fearsome figure.

Ermac and Rain are the two male ninjas that I'd like to see return.

I'd like Ermac and/or Reptile. I prefer Ermac but Reptile is part of MK DNA. Ah crap, I forgot about Noob Saibot. Hidden character maybe? Noob had such a good showing in MK9 though I wouldn't mind if he sat this one out.

Reptile in my opinion has the single most interesting back story of any character in MK. The writers just always reduce him to a lackey and never expand upon his story.

The whole "Lin Kuei aren't ninjas" was always a HUGE stretch to me. If it looks like a duck, it acts like a duck... Odds are it's a duck. I really could care less about historical accuracy. The bad guys who wear ninjas cloths in action movies are ninjas too lol. I don't care about specifics, terms change with culture and time.

I'd be willing to assume that if Reptile comes back he won't be a ninja anymore, and he'll be back to his crazy dinosaur look again.

Ermac is a no contest at this point and Mileena is likely.

Rain might be a possibility.

The only female ninjas are Kitana, Mileena, and Jade, they have been trained for thousands of years in ninja fighting styles and they were deadly stealthy assassins that wore masks. If that's not a ninja then what the fuck is? Lol

One might say Frost is also a ninja because of her being in the Lin Kuei.

We don't know what Tanya was doing the entire time Edenia was occupied by Outworld. Just because Khameleon had Tanya's fighting style in MKA does not make Tanya a ninja. NRS was probably just like "oh what the hell throw Tanya's in there too."

Well, ninjas come from Feudal Japan. Kitana, Mileena and Jade are from Edenia/Outworld. So that's one reason.

That said, since we ARE on an MK forum, with people on here being MK fans, it wouldn't be wrong of me to expect people on here to know some common MK knowledge... Maybe my expectations are just too high for you?

OMG lol. You sounded even more like a Tumblr kid with the second post. When he means ninja, he means O.G. pallet swapped MK ninjas, that much is REALLY obvious. Not "specifically from feudal japan, you uniformed swine". Everyone here knows the MK lore, we wouldn't be here otherwise. Some of us are older than 12 so we know what Ninjas are too. I just don't correct people "umm actually, technically ... that's not a ninja" because at the end of the day, it looks like a ninja and that kind of behavior is really annoying.

If you read my first post about this, you'd see that I already addressed that people call those characters for ninjas and that I understand why that is. That doesn't change that they are technically wrong, but it's a common misconception.

And your opinion about my behaviour isn't really relevant. I find you annoying as well, but I doubt you're going to do anything to change that.

I'd like to see either Reptile or Ermac come into this. More so Reptile than Ermac. I mean, I know Reptile's story is boring, and that he really didn't do that much in the last game, but I feel like he might surprise us.

Plus, I can really see a gruesome looking Reptile with this game. Just the tone of it already, I can just picture what they might make Reptile look like.

I'm thinking we'll get Ermac and Reptile. If not Reptile, then a descendant, or someone like him. If they continue to devolve him, then he wouldn't be a ninja. So, taking him out of the "ninja" conversation, I'd say Ermac and Noob.
