So, Sub-Zero have won...sad. I hoped that Ermac will be the winner, but well...

It was not a bad poll, however, it was setup in a wrong way, where multiple matches had very predictable outcome, which lead to the whole poll being quite predictable, save for the few surprises.
If I did this poll I'd divivded all characters into two groups - old one (32 chars from MK1-MKT) and a new one (32 chars from MK4-MK9) and made they battle each other separately. Then winners of the both groups would have fought for the champion title.

Love the champion profile on the front page! I was kinda curious what the winner would get and how they'd be featured. Great job to everyone that ran this tournament, even in spite of the spammers and conspiracy theorists, it was still a great distraction and a nice thing to do for the fans that come to this site.

I completely understand what you mean. I can also see how you might find my advice a bit offensive. But I'm glad you also understand where I'm coming from.
I think you have the strength to handle this, so my advice doesn't really fit you. Keep your head up high and whenever you feel a little blue, go around people that make you happy.

Now back to the tournament,

SUBZERO is the champion =). Not a bit surprised to be honest, although I am very surprised to see how close it really was.
Idk how I would have reacted if Ermac had won, it wouldn't feel right to me.

I wasn't expecting Ermac nor Smoke to make it this far. Congratulations to both of these character's fans.

Subzero is the champion and I am very happy because he is one of my top 2 favorite characters. But for me the best part of this tournament was the fact that only one female made it in the top 8.

The Edenian Princess kicked some serious ass in this tournament. She was the female that lasted the longest in the competition. Kitana also did the best against SubZero, besides Ermac of course. This is a victory for all Kitana fans that have stayed by her side since day one. Sonya and Mileena fans =P

Sub-Zero won... Oh well, it was completly expected. I did not expect Ermac to beat Smoke, Noob Saibot, and get so close to Sub-Zero!
(I really didn't expect Ermac to pass round 3.) also, I would have liked to see Skarlet and Tremor make it farther than they did

It's really heartwarming when strangers on the internet tell you that you're strong enough to handle it, I appreciate it.

Yes, go Kitana! She's my second favorite female character and she did kick some serious ass. She was the last girl standing and she totally rocked. I was really happy to see her make it that far.

I didn't expect Ermac to go to the final, I was so certain he'd lose to Noob, and I'm really happy he didn't. He's my favorite, #1, so I was just overjoyed. Too bad he lost, but....

I like Sub-Zero. I don't really know how to rank my favorites right because I love all of them. <3 (except Noob he can get out. xD) He's somewhere in the top 10, probably in the top 5. I really like him, so it wasn't a bother to be that he won.

Smoke was a surprise to me too, but after seeing how many fans he had, it stopped being surprising. Yay, Smoke! I really like Smoke too.

I also like Rain, and even though I love Kitana, I am guilty of voting for him against Kitana. I was sad to see him out so early. He's my second favorite and I have no regrets :P

Fun tournament, looks like there's another one soon, looks like there'll be more to discuss. I'll talk to you guys in the forums when that happens, too. :P

And it has been proven that this WAS just a popularity contest. Sub-Zero winning is like Americans cheering for Michael Phelps in the Olympic games, it was bound to happen. Had this been a matchup tournament of power, the outcome would have been very different. I'm just angry that one of the ninja-based characters won. Oh well, not that this changes anything for me about MK, it wasn't anything more than showing which character was liked most.

Also, no, I disagree... it's very difficult to determine the power and abilities of characters in the series due to the fact that the people on the evil side are always going to lose to the heroes (okay, end of MKA, that was an exception), and it's just... very difficult.

obviously then blaze would win based of purely of power, and Sub-Zero would fair pretty well since he is one of the strongest characters in MK. Also Sub-Zero is more then certain stronger then Kung Lao

Well, plenty of times in MK the bad guys have defeated the good guys, in MKDA Liu Kang was killed by Tsung, in MKD Raiden, Tsung, and Quan Chi were all killed, but Onaga was barely affected. Shao kahn defeated Raiden in the end of Armageddon. And now, only Sonya, Johnny Cage, and Raiden are the main good guys still alive. Many times the hero wins, like in MK 1-4, MKD's ending, and ALL of the adventure games.

Sorry, I disagree Shao defeated Blaze gaining the power to crush Raiden. I think Shao is pretty strong.

He had to probably kill Onaga, then finish off the rest of the kombatants, kill Blaze and then shit on Raiden.

If it was overall skill I think it could be determined if we all took a rational approach regardless of our faves. Focus, on abilities, strengths, weaknesses, notable battles and wins through out the series. We could possibly come to a conclusion.

It would probably be filled with upsets across the board and seeing how reactions were in this one. People, would get angry due the fact that their favorite lost.

We could divide the power levels into tiers. I think it sounds good but it probably won't be. Seeing, how Scorpion fans would get mad if I told them Cyber Sub-Zero would crush him.(Canon victory over Kintaro and Goro). It would probably be hell.

So, in popularity Subs deserved he's quite the character/legend MK needs.

I think you missed the point of this tournament. Its not about making the matches unpredictable, its about deciding what character was the most popular. The group system wouldn't really make sense

Unpredictable matches are more fun and interesting than boring outcome - and that is exactly what have happened here. So, group system was really suitable, if creators of the poll wanted it to be more interesting, rather then instantly remove all MK4-next chars.

Ah, nice! It's teams now. Let's see... I don't like Sindel or Jarek, but I think that I like Kano and Jarek more than Sindel and Kitana.
