Ermac! Ermac! Ermac!

I like Sub-Zero, but it would be so disappointing to see him win the final just because of seniority or the fact that he's the most recognizable character alongside Scorpion. Besides, Ermac is awesome.

SubZero obviously gets my vote.

I'm shocked to see that Ermac made it to the final. Ermac made it to the final, Ermac the 3rd division character. IMO he is the worst "ninja." MK9 brought many new fans; new fans who were impressed with Ermac's and Smoke's new gameplay. If it wasn't for MK9, those characters would have been out in the second round of the competition.

Subby should win this one with no problem, but we will see.

Frankly, Smoke did have quite a lot of past even before MK9. smile
Ermac was also rather involved in Deception (plus Shaolin Monks).

Nope that's incorrect.
This competition has nothing to do with divisions, this is pretty much a popularity contest. Ermac as of MK9, has become a very popular character. Ermac is popular, that's the only thing this proves.

But why do you think he's popular?
Because of his appearance, his story, his gameplay, stuff like that.

I seem to remember a few of these tournaments that I ran long ago, way before MK '11. Ermac was a two-time finalist, losing to Sub-Zero both times.

You're forgetting those who don't particularly like Ermac but have been crying about Scorpion and/or Sub-Zero being in the finals since this whole thing started. They'd vote just about anyone over Sub-Zero at this point. That's not really reflective of true popularity.

They cry "it's not fair" or "Ermac (insert whoever) deserves this more," "It's so and so's turn to shine," as if this popularity contest means anything. And they don't "deserve" anything. Taken as a whole (not just here at MKO) Sub-Zero would beat Ermac (along with a majority of the roster) in a popularity contest 100 times out of 100. Most sensible people realize this.

Ermac bores the hell out of me. From his story to his gameplay to his appearance. I couln't care any less about him. But, I have no issue with those who genuinely like him and are voting as such.

Ermac has always had fans, but you gotta admit that the newest MK multiplied his popularity. MK9 really put him in the spotlight.

@JadedRaven
His story? Lol. Ermac's awesome gameplay in MK9 is what made him shine.

Not trying to hate on anyone's beloved character, but I don't think Ermac is worthy to be in the final. He isn't important to the series. I don't dislike Ermac, in fact I use his theme on this website. But like I said, he shouldn't be in the final. Easy win for Subby.

I voted Ermac, because he's my favorite, but honestly I like them both.

Sub-Zero is extremely iconic and a very solid, well-developed character. I really enjoyed his stories and plotlines throughout the years, and he's been around since the first MK, where he was my favorite character to play as, mostly because ice balls and the fact that he was blue. I didn't really pay much attention to his storyline. :P

But Sub-Zero's still mostly the same guy. He hasn't gone through any major developments or changes for quite awhile, which is fine because I think he's a great character just the way he is.

Well, wait. I guess I should talk about MK9.

Sub-Zero in MK9 seemed to be very lifeless until we got to the part where he fought Scorpion, then was taken and automated. You saw some of the emotion that he hid behind that cold wall he usually puts up, and I really liked that. I think that's my favorite part of his character, actually, the emotions he hides for the sake of honor and the sake of others. It's a really nice thing to have a main character that acts very human and very... well, normal should I say? He's not exactly 'normal', but he doesn't come off as just being emotionless and 'fighting's all that matters'. I like it.

CSZ... I liked Cyber Sub. I liked his moveset better, I liked how he acted better, honestly I think that was bringing out part of Sub-Zero's best. He was intelligent, and calm, yet upset over his automation. It also showed the relationship between Smoke and Sub-Zero- they have a very good relationship and an excellent dynamic, no wonder they're 'shipped' so much. xP

I didn't like Sub's move lists, ever really, they've always been a bit weird too me. People who are better at the games probably figure him out easy, but his lists are just too strange in my opinion. To agree with someone else, they are a bit clunky. I also hated his MKD design. What was that? That outfit was ridiculous, I'm sorry. I hated it. No.

Sub's the face of MK, which is plenty reason to vote for him.

But, Ermac is one of the most developed over the years, the most improved on. He started as a red palette-swap and became what he is now- it's hard to tell he was a palette swap in the first place, but that's normal with every character. You can't tell. They're all unique and different from each other. Palette swapping was just for cost saving and memory saving, nothing more. I don't understand why people constantly use 'THEY WERE A PALETTE SWAP' as an argument to hate a character. You sound really ridiculous when you say that IMO.

Anyway, Ermac's always been really mysterious, and I love that. He usually wears a lot of clothing, conceals half of his face, hardly says anything really. He's that really mysterious character that you want to learn a lot more about because he doesn't really say or do much that gives off his past, his feelings, things about him, ETC. Not to say he's emotionless. The Ermac under Shao Kahn's rule and the Ermac that's free and under his own rule are almost completely different. He shows obvious disgust and remorse at his own actions under the rule of the emperor, which we don't see from a lot of characters, and he makes a complete turn-around to fight on the side of good. He had a pretty powerful role in a couple of games, where it was obvious that he was determined to help the side of good at any cost, even going into the Netherrealm even though that's extremely dangerous for him. Ermac just seems really selfless to me on those counts. Sure, part of the reason he did it was because he was disgusted at himself, but he was also trying to be a help instead of a hinderance.

Yes, this is a popularity contest, guys. It has been from day one. I can say, though, that I don't just like Ermac because he looks cool or because it's a popular opinion to like the character. Honestly, I thought that he wasn't a very popular character at all. I was wrong, but I see that a lot of people who vote for him on the forums have really good reasons. Ermac's just an awesome character, and with all the changes they've made to him (all for the better!), he's become one of the series' best. :) I like his movesets, I like his abilities, I like him. Go Ermac. :P

Some of us take into account games before MK9. He was pretty important in a couple of games and he had decent stories. Good, actually, imo. I liked his stories quite a bit.

Yes, his gameplay was awesome in MK9. It was a really good spot for him. His story in that game wasn't really important at all EXCEPT for the fact that it was his doing that Jax was forced to receive metal arms. That was pretty much all he did in the recent game that was confirmed canon. But, his ending was really good, one of the best in the game next to.. I want to say Shang Tsung. He had a really nice and happy ending.

I'm not trying to be rude here, honestly, but... is worthiness really important in an online 'tournament'? After this, everyone will say 'that was interesting' and keep loving their favorite character, whether they made it to the final or not. This isn't really important. Of course, Sub-Zero's going to win because he's a series favorite, but saying that Ermac's 'not worthy' isn't going to do anything but piss people off. I'm not mad, I'm definitely respecting your opinion here. :)

I would've voted for Ermac, but I didn't because Sub-Zero's transformation into a Cyborg gave Subby that extra edge to make me vote for him.

What Riyakou meant by "Ermac having big fans since MK1" is that Ermac was rumored to be a secret fighter in MK1, because there was a listing in the arcade's audit menu for "ERMACS". In Revision 3.0 of the MK1 arcade machines, "ERMACS" was listed under Reptile Battles, causing people to believe Ermac was a secret character like Reptile.

Ermac's fanbase started when he was just a shortened term for "Error Macro" on the MK1 arcade machines' audit menu. Pretty cool.

Ermac, isn't very important story wise all he did was rip off Jax's arms. Just saying. He has a great Fan Base but Subby's fans is out of this world. Now if this was a fighting tournament Liu Kang would OWN everyone.
