Deagon is already awoke. I think he was awoke prior to mk:mythologies, but I know for sure pre MK1.

Yet it would be cool to if Raiden awaken Taven before MK:A although I think some higher up Edenians would disagree with that action.

Maybe the fans should determine the story since the story writers at NRS keep screwing things upgrin

Yeah, I wasn't really sure when Daegon woke up tongue. But I agree, we could write a better story then those guys. I wonder how bad Injustice's story is gonna be.

Thank you my friend! My Chelsea are Champions of the champions league! I still can't believe it man. First time my blues are champions of Europe. Interesting.. Chelsea, Kitana and Sub-Zero are my favorites and have one thing in common, hmmm I wonder what my favorite color is....

Some advice bro...
You should just drop this debate about the princess in qtr finals, because trust me they are never going to understand. Sonya, Mileena, and Jade did not make it to the quarter finals, and it kills their fans to know that KITANA did.
The bottom line is that MY BABY is in the top 8. She would have gone further if it wasn't for Mr. Frozen Balls.

This shows who the real MK poster girl should be. NRS open your eyes...

Hah! If nrs based their decisions based on this poll they would be making only about 15 people happy.
I have love for kitana. But i cant help but wonder what would have happened had she and Sonya been against each other.

Ok, this post might be a bit off topic. But I've been reading the last few pages, and honestly, it got me thinking.

Everyone has different reasons for loving different characters. We've seen a plethora of reasons to vote for different people, from move set, to appearance, to significance, to story. And you know what I think? I think every reason posted so far, both for and against, have value. Every character deserves the chance to shine in the next game, to reach a conclusive ending and go out with a bang to pave the way for new characters, or to just have their own current stories spiced up and given new blood. NRS just need to realise that the fans who are posting here are all saying the same one word, over and over. Potential. So many characters could be worked on and become something so much more in the space of just one game. Look at how it effected Noob, Rain, Mileena or Ermac in the past? It works.

The best thing NRS could do Roster wise is work on the roster they have now rather than add in ten new characters to realise and develop, they should give the characters who had a stale story in this current instalment some limelight and focus in the next game. With the exception of the characters Quan Chi has enslaved (as their absence from being playable in the next game, or even that significant, will make their deaths from MK9 actually seem a little bit more palatable),they should bring back the following: Scorpion: (though allow Scorpion to finally slay Quan Chi and ascend to heaven in the story to be reunited with his family. His revenge arc needs to come to an end and let's be honest, he's long overdue to finally get some peace and resolve.) Ermac: (as Jerrod's nobility takes control of Ermac's conscience, he allies himself with Raiden to repent for the sins he committed working for Kahn, and ultimately relinquishes his own life in the battle against Shinnok to save the fallen heroes souls)Reptile: (forms an uneasy truce with Raiden under the promise to restore Zaterra, but ultimately screws the heroes over in favour of Shinnok's manipulations. Make him a character at conflict within himself over what he thinks is the right thing to do in order to restore his race, and actually give him some depth)Johnny Cage: (becomes Raiden's new Champion in place of Liu Kang. Unlike his predecessor he actually doubts his own abilities as Champion, showing a more humane and less cocky side to Johnny, but bravely fights on for Raiden and Earthrealm)Mileena: (as Empress of Outworld, she sides with Shinnok but aspires to lead the armies of Outworld against both Shinnok and Raiden in an effort to rule supreme over both worlds.) Cyrax: (allies himself with Raiden after his servers malfunction from the Church battle in MK9, and he gradually regains his free will and conscience, rebelling against the corrupt Lin Kuei to assist the Shaolin and restore his honour by fighting for his realm, rather than against it)Noob Saibot: (his soul becomes corrupted further after being flung into the Chaosrealm, and expelled from the Soulnado, after his previous fight with Nightwolf. As a cleric of Chaos he now plans to sabotage Shinnok's forces from within his own ranks, and overwhelm his Lord's defences during the confusion with his newfound allies from Chaosrealm)Sektor: (murders his father for ownership of the Lin Kuei. Agrees to serve Shinnok and attack Earth in exchange for the Lin Kuei's safety in the upcoming war. This contrasts with Cyrax, as Sektor has no interest in preserving humanity, just his clan) Sonya: (struggles with the loss of her best friend Jax, making her harsher, gruffer, colder. As a result, she becomes further detached from the heroes to cope with her grief. However, spotting Jax and her former allies in Quan Chi's forces pushes her resolve to rescue him to the absolute limit, and she refuses not to back down until he's saved) Kano: (allow him to officially run the Black Dragon clan now, in conjunction to working with Sektor for immunity during Shinnok's invasion. Kano secretly plans to loot the Lin Kuei's technology and double cross the ninja clan to further the Black Dragon's power)Baraka: (allow him to lead the Tarkatan's as a rebel horde intent on dominating Outworld as it's supreme race during the anarchy of Shao Kahn's death, effectively making him more independent and feral, and an enemy to both Outworld and Earthrealm)Sheeva: (with the civil unrest caused by Kahn's death, she arranges a truce between the Shokan and Centaur to protect the people of Outworld against the rampaging Tarkatan hordes. As Goro fights alongside Raiden to bring honour to the now dishonoured Shokan and to protect the realm of Outworld, Sheeva takes it upon herself to claim Baraka's head and bring peace back to her people and her land, as well as restore the now shattered reputation of her race)Raiden: (allow him to become a lot darker and erratic, as the guilt of his previous failures effect his conscience. This in turn could build up to the Dark Raiden arc where eventually his mind becomes so addled that his former comrades need to challenge him, which I personally loved)Quan Chi: (tactician and mastermind of Shinnok's forces, but dies at end of the next Story, slain by Scorpion. Gives space for a new villain to rise in future storylines)Skarlet: (Kahn's sorcery is becoming undone with his death, and she needs to slay warriors to stay alive now before the magic dissipates, which puts more emphasis on her survival/huntress status as well as making her an independent wild card character with no loyalties during the invasion) Kenshi: (begins as a lone wolf character with no interest in aiding the heroes as he has nothing to gain from it, but ultimately chooses to assist Raiden during the invasion of Earthrealm to preserve the honour of the Warrior King's who's lineage he shares)

and
Rain: (with the Edenian bloodline now extinct, Rain begins to manipulate the new Empress, Mileena, by charming her fragile mind into granting him status as Royal Counsel. Silently corrupting her forces from within, he intends to eliminate her and rule over both Outworld and Edenia as it's sole Royalty.)

Take those characters from the current roster, with cameos of the Fallen Heroes in Quan Chi's possession, and add Tanya
Shinnok
Reiko
Kai
Fujin
Sareena
Nitara
Li Mei
and Bo Rai Cho

back into the game with more fleshed out, realised stories and gameplay. I think the characters just need more direction, which seems to be the only thing that works against them in this competition. Some have more than others, when really, all of them could have plenty going on for them if the creators and developers just took time to make them slightly more significant. The settings of the next game would be ideal for some of the lesser involved characters to really shine.

that's hoping a lot! lol! Plus, I don't use Twitter, so the chances of them ever seeing those sort of ideas are slim to none unless somebody on Twitter directs them to this topic page. But thanks for the compliments :)

Any of the characters in the franchise can be given room to become something memorable in terms of Story, obviously some characters need to fill the archetypes of heroes, masterminds, underdogs, victims etc for a story to progress... but that doesn't mean those stories can't become something classic.

Sure for Smoke, I was going to suggest that after his eventual revival, his prolonged exposure to the Netherrealm eventually results in his Enenra form becoming corrupt with the evil of the realm, and as a result, he struggles with personal duality. One half of him wanting to be a virtuous hero who fights for his realm and his friends, the other a dangerous and demonic creature with it's own agendas and dark habits. It would oddly be a grim reflection of the other Lin Kuei (Bi Han, Kuai Liang, Sektor and Cyrax), as all of them have either been forced into becoming something or willingly became it. With that storyline, Smoke would be in transition period, willingly resisting it when he can, but not in total control of what he's becoming either.

They've introduced so much to work with for every single character, and have effectively laid out the groundwork for something fantastic by making some very bold moves and changes.

The only thing they need to do now is actually invest time into working on the changes they've made that still stay true to the legacy of the character. Sub-Zero could still be the hero who faced loss and sacrifice to become an embodiment of commitment and indominable will, despite being both dead and a cyborg at this current moment in time. Mileena could still be a calculating, ruthless femme fatale despite her young mentality (since every child has the capacity to be greedy and naive, she could easily be manipulated and betrayed to the point she becomes the ruthless, revenge driven optimist we all know and love).

For both Raiden and Johnny Cage, they just need to become something far more than their roles in the story as "comedic relief" and the "wise one". They touched on it with Raiden in this story by actually letting him make mistakes, allowing him to be frustrated, confused, uncertain. And despite if people agree or disagree on the fruits of his labour, you can't deny his mistakes kept the character from being boring. He went from being a God to ironically being far more human and emotional than the rest of his allies.

That's some damn good work there in terms of character progression if you ask me, because it gave him depth. If that depth was to be explored, he'd easily be one of the most compelling warriors in the franchise. By stepping outside of his archetype, he's been given that chance to shine whilst still retaining what made him Raiden in the first place. The story department just need to try keep that formula with the rest of the cast. Stay true to what the character is, where they come from and how they think, but give them room to evolve and take chances.

You are very welcome smile. NRS needs to allow characters to grow & evolve, most of the characters that they have created for years would definitely benefit from it, but honestly NRS has never seemed to care too much about character progression besides Scorpion for example.

I'm not. They do that a lot. Drop characters to make room for far too many new ones and then when the next game rolls around less than half of the new characters are back. They need a stable roster of fighters. Now we already know that a lot of the MK4 characters exist. Bring them in the next game and then after that maybe one or two new characters.

AJBlue Wrote:
Nobody stays dead in MK. You all know this. It's not surprising they "kill" off characters. It's not surprising they bring them back.
That's part of the problem in imo. They need to learn how to create drama without killing off half the cast every game.

Exactly. I'm worried about this "new" characters because the last time they did this, Deadly Alliance & Deception, most of the new characters were just ripoffs of other characters & nobody really ends up caring about them. I just hope NRS does this right if they do it.

Now that they have the funds needed to tale their time, I think they're going to do a much better job with new characters.

Also, it seems like their doing a Soulcalibur with MK10, so the new characters will be the main characters, and virtually the only characters.

I've been waiting for some fresh kombatants for six years. It's about time we got some.

After twenty years of Mortal Kombat, we ask the question: Who is the Supreme Mortal Kombat Champion? The Quarter Finals continues with two more iconic kombatants! Ermac, damned souls enslaved under the dark magic of Shao Kahn! Smoke, the mysterious Lin Kuei warrior who commands the mist! Only one can progress -- who will it be?!

Just out of curiousity, but where did you read / hear this? I'm kinda surprised that he'd be throwing out a number for the amount of new characters that will be in the next MK game when he's probably been neck deep in Injustice for quite some time.

I do recall him saying in an interview before MKvsDC was announced that he wanted to wipe the slate clean in the next MK game and bring in a completely new cast. But I don't thnk that's what your'e talking about here.

As for the next game, I'm more in favor of them putting together a roster that makes the most sense for what they're trying to do. Don't just throw in every character from MK4 because that's where you're at in the story. You did an alternate timeline so now you can easily explain away absences of characters you don't want to bring back.

I'd say a max of 4 new characters, a good mix of MK1-3 characters and a good mix of MK4-MK:D characters. Put all of that together and you could have a well rounded cast. Again though, the most important part to me is that it makes sense. Cage, Sonya and Raiden, Shinnok and Quan Chi should be in the next game (IMO), after that, all bets are off.
