But on a serious not, Bayonetta would be a hilarious addition to the MK roster. I approve, under one condition: That she'd be parodied as a half-assed port on the PS3 version of the game. I have been salivating EVERY day for the release of this new game since I first heard about it's development almost 12 months ago... and NOW they drop the bomb that quite possibly we could have a character from an outside franchise that has zero to do with Mortal Kombat in the roster...

Thankyou Netherrealm Studios. Thankyou for ruining my hopes and dreams of having a Mortal Kombat game I can be proud of being a fan of... which has been a long time coming... the last Mortal Kombat I had pride in saying I was a fan of was Mortal Kombat Trilogy...

First of all, AvP was a great game.

Second of all, boo hoo, a character you don't like is in a game. He's not impacting the story in any way, he'll just be there to draw in new fans. You really think this isn't something to be proud of? When someone says to you "Hey the new MK game is awesome! It's the first one I played so I don't get a lot of the stuff" you'll be the one able to say "It happened like this, also, you should go play the other games". While I don't entirely approve of the crossover, at least it fits aesthetically, and it can only help sales. I mean sure half the overly sensitive MK community will be POd, but they'll get over it, they usually do.

Lol at all the anger. While I can understand why people don't want him in the game for one reason or another, many of you forget this is merely a video game, and once upon a time they were meant to be about having FUN. So many people these days only care about competitiveness, being the absolute best of the best, and having everything being taken super serious...that they lose sight of the main goal of these damn games: Having Fun. If Kratos is a downloadable extra, who you don't have to get if you do not wish, and he has no story or relevance in the actual game other than just a fun little guest character for no reason...he's no harm to the game.

The game is looking absolutely phenomenal, yet some of you act like the inclusion of an extra character for shi** and giggles is gonna ruin the game. If anything, this is gonna make the game even more popular amongst the masses, and draw more attention to the game itself. As long as the game itself is awesome and reviews well, it's just gonna further make them more money and make MK a big name franchise again amongst newer audiences.

Lastly, there's a lot of crappy characters in MK games that DO effect the story, yet they receive warmer welcomes than a one off character who has no effect on the story whatsoever, and is actually worth something.

With all that said, I don't own a PS3 so I don't really care either way. I just think people are over reacting a bit to this as if it takes an awesome game and makes it crap.

MK need to shape up, there last 2-3 games were Horrible and a mess and when they finally begin to get back on track they do something like this, I don't want God of War fanboys all over Mortal Kombat whoring Kratos out or even the idea of a Gears of war character (I by the way love Gears as a franchise), no matter how much I like Gears or God of war these things are just not needed, sort it out MK because this is not the MK i was expecting...

If the game is about nothing more than FUN, then why don't they throw in some RPG shooting for mini games involving Spongebob Squarepants and Bill Cosby. Then have a basketball tournament between all 60+ MK characters. And then, have a hidden mini-game involving all the characters in one big super orgy.

CUZ THATS FUN.

I think that the general concensus from most people here is that it's okay if he's DLC. I think that this approach/compromise makes everyone happy. If he's DLC, it's alot easier to ban him from tournament play without a huge level of outrage (at least in my logical estimation).

Granted, most people are still miffed at the idea that a non-MK character will be in what's supposed to be a harkening back to ye olden days of MK, but that's certainly understandable.

Personally, I like that he'll be in the game from a popularity standpoint. I want MK to be loved by many.

From a purely selfish standpoint, I don't want to see non-MK characters in my MK game. I want MK to be loved by many, but I still want it to be the MK that I know and love.

I'd rather have Sareena, Kenshi, Mavado and a whole slew of other characters that probably won't make it in while this outsider gets a shot instead.

So I guess that I'm kind of torn.

I still feel as though this is a good idea since it'll only bring in more fans (I think the number of casual fans that would be in to this idea will outweigh the number of hardcore MK fans and tourney players that say they won't buy it because of this), but I still look at it like this:

It's not MKvsDC. It's one character per system. I can live with that. Is it ideal for me personally? Probably not. But if it helps them sell more, then so be it. I want MK to succeed, even if it certainly would have before Kratos, the more they get, the better, I guess?

Obviously there are expectations and level of importances. Making a Basketball game because it's fun isn't my point at all and you know it. I've never seen a group of fans so emotional over something that doesn't hurt the game at all. Oh wait, yes I have...on this website for every game they've made in the past 9-10 years I've been here. It's one thing to change the game completely in an effort to be FUN!11111, and another to offer a guest character that has no impact on anything in the game or the story, because some people might like to play as him.

I love MK just as much as the next guy, but holy hell do some of you have a period everytime something doesn't work out 100% perfect to what you want. They are making an awesome game, and we have guys claiming the game is ruined over something so little and unimportant to the actual game itself.

I can't wait to see how he plays.

I think the really only way Netherrelm studios can really screw things up with him is if they some how manage to just basically copy his play style and combos, and moves from Soul Calibur. As long as he's different I think it will be interesting to play as him. Especially consider the new MK game is 2d, where as Soul Calibur was 3d.

It still bugs me because he's going to get twice as much attention as any other character, and MK's gonna get lots of bandwagoners just because Kratos is in. I honestly see no real point of having him, or any guest in the line up. If the true MK characters aren't good enough for you, then go play something else.

I totally agree. I wanted to see if this new MK could stand up on it's own two feet and make it back in popularity, and tournament viability. Now if this happens to be true I guess we'll never find out...

I highly doubt Jaffe would let NRS use Kratos if they were essentially going to "hide" him by making him DLC. That would be insulting, and quite frankly a slap in the face to those who gave the permission for Kratos to appear. He won't be DLC.

It's not the end of the world, but it's disappointing nontheless.

Those all look like deliberate crossover games to me.
Once again, a Vs. game is not the same thing as having a guest character. In a Vs. game, the entire core concept of the game is a meeting of multiple franchises.

Well, then if that doesn't work, then I'll bring up that they made Lars Alexandersson a playable character in the newest Naruto game. And he was awesome

My stance on this is similar to others. If Kratos is to make the game, I'd prefer he were DLC and not a hidden or standard character. I feel that would be the best approach for any guest characters though ideally I would prefer MK had no guests at all.

That's a better example. But Lars was already a fighting character. So all they did was copy and paste, essentially. Kratos on the other hand would have to be remade to fit in with the genre. He'd need a new character model, moves, and even fatalities.
