I like the God of War series... I like Kratos alot too... and I might even download him IF I get bored of Raiden....eh. Fat chance of that. heh.. Kratos will be virtually ignored by me.

I'll just say that he's got no baring on whether I buy the game or not. I'm good to go without him already so this isn't an exciting update for me. Just seems like a marketing ploy to me. Fodder because of violent likeness...bleh.

Yea, seemed like a really cool idea a while ago... still seems to have some logic attached to it so I appreciate that much but, I don't care about him at this point. Just as long as he's not a default character, and he effects nothing the way of the story to an absolute degree like they're saying.

I don't even want a cameo from him. Pure DLC please.

If this bull crap is true than Mortal Kombat is going down a dark and dangerous road. I mean why would ya have the palest, baldest arrogant arse-hole in the world in MK (2011) . We have Quan Chi for that. I know its business, but still do we really need this in the 'Return to classic' Mortal Kombat. Everything about this game has made me even more excited for its release, and then this happens! I hope to God this is just a joke, because if Kratos is annouced at the VGA's at the weekend as the new character reveal, then Mortal Kombat will loose a hell of a lot of fans.

I didn't even open this thread for ages 'cause (for some reason) I assumed it was the same old "Kratos is in MK" rummor thread from months ago.

Then, by reading a few posts from the last page I actually realized this was a news update...a freaking news update.

My feelings for this are mixed...very mixed:

THE GOOD:

1) I loved playing God of War. It's one of my favorite games.

2) Kratos fits with the MK characters as a guest star even if I don't like him as a character.

3) The world of God of War blends nicely with the world of MK.

4) I have no problem with Kratos as a DLC. I don't want his face in the main select screen.

THE BAD:

1) He better not take the spot of any MKT character. I don't want to see freaking Kratos instead of my Sheeva, Rain, etc.

2) I'm not fond of the idea of having a guest character in this new MK. This is just not what we expected for this game. It kind of kills the whole "nostalgic" thing if I see his face in the main select screen. It kind of goes against what this whole new game represents.

3) I much rather see (a billion times X 3) another MK character instead of any guest star. I rather that all the time they've dedicated into creating Kratos was used for the creation of a new or well known MK character (Nitara, Hotaru, etc).

I honestly can't believe this rumor was actually true. When I read the posts of people talking about Kratos as if he was confirmed to be in the game, I was so confused, then I read the newslead and I was like.....

Oh well.

Maybe we should be happy and grateful about this, but, as a hardcore MK fan, I find it a bit difficult to be super excited when I fear he might be taking the spot of another MK character...and also about the fact that we could have an old or new character post MK3 instead of him (like Fujin or Nitara).

I hope Dante, Ryu Hayabusa, Earthworm Jim, and Felix the Cat replace all of your favorite characters.

I entirely love this idea. I think out of any character Kratos fits into the MK series the best.

My really only problem with this is first now I'm hoping the 360 version gets some kind of exclusive character now. It just wouldn't be right to have the PS3 version get both 3dTV support, and have an exclusive character, and no MC Chief, Noble 6, or Marcus Fenix are not suitable character for the MK series. Secondly I'm not entirely thrilled about having to pick up 2 copies of the game now. I felt compelled to get all 3 copies of Soul Calibur 2 for the same reason, as well as MK: Deception because it had the various multi-covers.

i know Kratos won't effect the story in any way but still think what would happen if he became the new champion of mortal kombat omg that would suck xD

I am not liking Kratos in MK.

Considering I own an Xbox, this wont bother me as much as it should. However I will admit it does annoy me to think that a title which is being launched as a nostalgic, revamped version of what I played in my childhood is including a completely irrelevant outside character into it's roster. I've never played God of War, but I dont think Kratos has, or even deserves a place in MK, regardless whether he's got a story or not. I would rather see Hsu Hao or Li Mei even take his place (and god knows how much I hate them both) simply because they belong to the franchise and if anything deserve to be in it over an outsider.

It might sound harsh of me judging a character I've never even used or heard of before, but this is Mortal Kombat, not God of War. If people want Kratos they can play as him within his own franchise, he has no place in Mortal Kombat regardless how vicious or mythical he is within his own series. I do hope this is just some sort of joke because if the roster space is already being cut and limited for MK's OWN CHARACTERS, I'd be HIGHLY pissed off if outside characters from other franchises get a space on the roster, DLC or not. To cut out any of our own warriors for another, outside character would be insulting.

Kratos being in the PS3 version of MK doesn't bother me at all. I do agree with some of you that if Kratos is in, make him DLC. We should be able to have a choice of getting him or not. I just don't want to see him being involved in the whole story somehow and I don't want other MK characters being replaced by him either. Will the Xbox360 version have a guest character as well? Hopefully not but if it does then oh well.

I won't get upset, after all the second I heard the term "reboot" I knew this game would destory John Tobias's classic storyline from MK1-MK4. This so called retelling of MK1-MK3 is a total joke from a storyline POV.

Someone said it on MKOnline a few days ago. This retelling is just a result of the MK team not knowing what to do next after MK:A. Guest characters in this barely retelling of a MK1- MK3, what a joke. So far I am not impressed by the MK team's handle on the storyline and characters. As a Xbox 360 owner, I HOPE we do NOT get any guest characters.

The only way I wouldn't mind "Kratos" being in this game, is if he is an alternate costume for Quan Chi. Which works fro me because it doesn't really put a non MK character in the game.

If there is, I want Khameleon. At least she's a part of the franchise and HAS a storyline, regardless how irrelevant it was. Plus with the graphics they have in this game and how much the game mechanics have developed I'd say she'd be great fun to play as.

Seems a little unfair though that PS3 get the 3d effects and the guest character. They better have something on the cards for Xbox fans or I'll fly to Chicago and hurl my own Xbox in Ed Boon's face (well, not really, but I would feel quite cheated).

Meh, it won't affect cannon storyline so I don't really care. Bring him on. I bet it would be fun.

I quite like the idea. I highly doubt that they would put him in the game and let the entire fanbase of another character suffer. I'll be glad to use Kratos.

For all the people who don't like the GoW series, however, I can see why this would be upsetting to you. GoW is one of my favorite series of all time, and Kratos being one of my favorite video game characters of all time, so it works for me.

I'm positive that Kratos is just gravy on the roster and is not taking anyone else's spot. It's a blu-ray disk. If NRS wanted they could fit all the mk characters.

I really dig Kratos being in the game. He is a PERFECT fit. God knows MK could use some GOOD new characters. Raiden would totally want Kratos to protect earthrealm. Or, more likely, Kratos would wanna challenge Shao Khan for conquering supremecy. And he might well win.

I can't wait to see him fatalicize Lui Kang. :D

Once Again..I really want him as DLC The option of not downloading him proves to be the best option for those that want him and those that don't. And as Already announced Dlc he promotes the game without even having to be in it.

Unfortunately I don't think it'll happen since it was announced he would get his own arena which sounds like confirmation he'll be in from the start.

Feels horrible man.
