how? Reptile's entire gimmick is that he fights for guys who are evil because he doesn't have the brains to realize he's being used. He's also The Last of His Kind (bonus points), and yearns for sex with a female. And he's an assassin.
Kitana? She was Kahn's hit-girl who turned on him once she learned she was royalty. After that, what did she really do?
I like Raiden and all, but he didn't do anything special till Deception. Hell, he isn't even IN MK3, canon-wise.
Scorpion is undead and out for revenge. The Elder Gods made him their champion but that didn't really go anywhere...except that they screwed him and now he wants revenge on THEM too.
Sub-Zero? Well maybe...he started out as an ice shooting guy, took over his own clan and tried to turn it good. That's an interesting life, but still not as much as Reptile.

Truth be told, some people will complain about anything, from something minor such as a character stance to something else as an extra character in the game.

You're misreading the MK4 bio, taking it too literally. That's just a vague, fancy way of saying "one game ended and now he's back for the next one", or maybe that after defeating Kahn, he returned to Heaven to take a sabbatical or commune with the Elder Gods or some shit, and now he's come back to warn everyone of Shinnok.
And Johnny Cage and Mileena's confirm Trilogy was canon. Cage's death really happened and Shinnok is really the one who resurrected her. And Khameleon's Armageddon Wii bio confirms her presence in the events of MK3 as well.
There's literally nothing that has EVER said Trilogy wasn't meant to count, everyone has always known since like 1997 that Trilogy was valid, and I don't know where people keep getting this crazy idea, because it's like believing that the sky is green and grass is pink.

Extra character? Like, as in a character who's taking place of a Mortal Kombat character, the place of someone who would have actually been able to have a story and expanded mythology and would be usable in tournaments because he/she wouldn't have been an exclusive? You mean a character who's from another franchise and therefore completely jumbles up the artistic atmosphere when on-screen?
Yes. We are complaining.

Man, I could just imagine that exact same trailer, except starting at the part were Kahn yells "Finish Him" instead of seeing another chain grabbing Sub-Zero, you hear a gunshot and you see Sub-Zero fall flat on the ground. The camera moves over where you see Stryker standing there, he twirles his gun, and Scorpion's standing there ready to fight. Stryker reloads his gun and points it as Scorpion as Scorpion throws his spear at Stryker.
It would have been so epic, dude. Well hopefully Kratos is DLC or you can turn off guess characters or something, I don't want to see any guest characters in this game. kind of a gimmik.

It would have been so epic, dude. I really hope this is something you preorder or get after the game comes out, it'll totally take away from the nostalgic feeling if I have to see a mugshot od Kratos every time I choose a character. Hopefully NRS didn't make a deal to put any guest characters on the Xbox version so I could just buy that version and never have to deal with online guest characters. Such a gimmik.

You can't take a bio "too literally" because...it's a bio. It's supposed to be taken literally.
And just because a game is canon doesn't mean all its elements are. Hence "Classic Sub-Zero" after the original ice guy was dead for years.

No, extra as in a character who will not take the place of anyone because the number of original MK characters in the game will be the same for both versions regardless, if there are 26 characters as told since the beginning then it will be those 26 + the extra character, there is no room for another one because it was not planned for him/her to be in the game, and since we're getting DLC characters I could care less. And here's a question I have for you, are you a truly competitive gamer? Do you go to tourneys for any game?

I really dislike this argument people are having about Kratos ruining MK. The Apprentice aka. Starkiller fit in Nicely in SCIV, There was no Balance Issues aside Yoda being to small to hit most of the time. But Kratos is just as Bloodhungry as any MK Character. Hell he Ripped off Helios Head and walked around with it w/o a care in the world. Let it be known if Kratos wanted to he'd merc the F**k out of Shao Kahn. Guareenteed! He's as ruthless if not more in the world he lives. He fits perfectly.

You CAN, however, misunderstand the wording. It says he "returns to Earth", but it doesn't say when he left or what he was doing, "after Kahn's defeat" is vague and doesn't actually say he wasn't on Earth DURING Kahn's defeat. Again, I posit that the bio means he simply hasn't been back amongst the mortals since the invasion was stopped, because he was watching over things from his home in the Heavens during the quiet period.
And Classic Sub-Zero was in UMK3 too, so using the one character that was always non-canon doesn't prove a whole game is non-canon. That'd be like saying "Mokap doesn't count, so all of Deadly Alliance doesn't count." It doesn't work that way.
It's a little moot now anyway. You really think Raiden's NOT going to take a mortal form and fight against the invasion in MK9, a game where he's being billed as the main goddamn character?

Your SCIV argument about The Apprentice is completely invalid. We aren't saying that he can't handle his own but that there is no point of putting him in if he would have a story completely unrelated. He won't tie in at all especially since it is a retelling of the events.

Boon said in the most recent interview that the roster was not finalized. The 26 character estimate was never final.
But even then, you're argument still doesn't go far. You're telling me that if they had more time to develop more playable characters, they wouldn't do so because of a preset roster they set more than a year ago? I find that hard to believe.

Does it matter? If I hated tournaments like plague, is putting a non-tournament character into a game any more a good idea?

You of all people want to complain about a story after the cluster fuck known as Armageddon? I lol @ the nonsense that people foresee in Kratos story. This can be said about DCU not having a place in MK. But in the end it all works out.

That's not my point. MK has gods who are conniving God of War has this to. Kratos is hellbent on Zeus as Scorpion is to Sub-Zero in this time line Quan chi post MK3. Kratos is built around hate and blood lust and much of like MK other characters such as Kahn are well known for wanting to be POWERFUL. And lets face it, Athena denied Kratos his life. So he took it on his own. It'll be nice to see how this will have any if at all affect on his story.

I never spoke on MKT as a whole being canon or not. My exact words were "just because a game is canon doesn't mean all its elements are". I used Classic Sub-Zero as an example, and compared Raiden in MKT to him.
