Well, I think we can agree alts are fine. I'm not wild about alts like you described but they exist to cater to certain people. What I am asking for is just a little fair treatment. If you guys want Lifeguard Sonya as the alt, at least let her have one serious costume that makes sense for the storyline.

The issue for me isn't really so much about "sluttiness". I just want the characters to look cool and not dress in a stupid way. Sonya and other females don't have to completely cover up. To fix this costume, she mainly needs a t-shirt that covers most or all of her belly and flat-heeled boots. I wish the color scheme to her costume was a bit more diverse. She could have a white t-shirt, light green or dark brown vest and black or dark green pants.
To queve: Yes, I saw the scans, and no, they don't look the way they did in MK vs. DCU. In this new game, she doesn't have the whole emo drag queen thing going on. Even though Sonya fanboys aren't the only ones posting in this thread, there's still rampant Sonya fanboyism.
What is it with you and the "futuristic" stuff anyway? I just don't see that with her costumes. That kind of stuff would be more appropriate for her role in the OIA, but since this is in the MK1-MK3 timeline, she should really have that army look to her. Like I said before, it's simple to fix Sonya and make her costume good. NRS is batting 0 for 3 when it comes to the female character designs in this new game.
I look forward to your PM response.

This.
I've been posting here like crazy the last few weeks. Because if there's even a small chance that one of the NRS stumbles across my ramblings, reads them and changes at least something in the final version of the game, then my mission is a success.

Nope. We've gone 23 pages discussing her high heels and her lack of a shirt.
... which means we have spent 23 pages talking about sex and women's clothing. Oh Gawd! We're turning into the women from Sex & the City!
Right, I've been following this site for quite some time now. I didn't really plan to create an account here since I was going to wait until the official MK forums open up, but since that seems to be going nowhere... here I am. Anyway, I wanted to share my thoughts about the whole Sonya topic.
Personally, I really love the design they came up with this time (and I hope they don't change a single thing about it). Now I can understand that there's people who don't really like it and want to see it changed, but I think that going around trying to make NRS change it just because you don't like it, is a bit selfish. Basically you're saying: 'I don't care what anyone else thinks, - I - don't like it so they HAVE to change it.'
I've seen many twitter messages directed at NRS, and they all come down to the same thing: I don't like Sonya's outfit, change it!
Now I don't know whether or not anyone at NRS is going to change anything based on what they read in topics like this, but please consider that there's people out there that think that Sonya looks perfect right now. So please show some respect to other people's opinions and stop trying to force your ideas about costume changes on NRS.
I hope nobody here takes my post the wrong way, I come in peace!

I think in one of the screens, where she's fighting Nightwolf, she's in her TKD stance from MK:DA, although I may be wrong. If so that's totally awesome.

These people are a minority who have no concept of what's practical or appropriate for a given character in terms of previously established characterization and should probably go play some Dead or Alive.
There,I said it.

I sort of agree with you. I love her new look too, and the whiners are annoying, but on the other hand, were they to actually change it, I'd be on here whining "change it back"! Yes it's selfish but I'm selfish too. :)

Sonya’s outfit looks like a rehash of Kira’s outfit, I don’t mind either way as long as my lovely lady is in and she’s got that leg grab I’m fine with it. On the plus side they’ve finally been able to tone down that steroid transvestite look she’s been sporting in the past couple of games. Costumes come and go, just take street fighter for example; I’ve lost count of how many costume packs I’ve purchased!
Bottom line her model looks beautiful and sexy and it seems from what little has been revealed NRS are focusing on her legs as her primary arsenal in Kombat ( as it should be). If I’m not mistaken it looks like they have reinstated her/ Liu kang’s flying kick from DA. Anyway Like the leather halter top, breasts are way out of proportion but It’s become a standard in all fighting games as of late (blame dead or alive)and finally I wish there was more green in the outfit.
On a side note I think this is the first Mortal Komabt where Kitana looks manlier than Sonya.

Yet the people who came up with that design are the people who were the ones who created the character in the first place. Now are you saying that the creators of said character should just leave MK behind and go play some Dead or Alive? I don't think so. How would you like it if you came up with a character yourself, but couldn't do with it as you wanted because of the angry mob with pitchforks outside telling you how to shape it? Sounds an awful lot like censorship to me.

This whole fucking thread is evidence.
20+ pages of SLUTS AND WHORES,with the occasional guy popping in to proclaim that he feels that Sonya's beautiful breasts should never be restrained by clothing, because they just want to be free.
NRS better be making some conclusions now.

I do notice a healthy portion of those 20+ pages are the same individuals posting over and over and over and over. Like myself!

I think it's a lot less in your favour than you think. Hard to say without tallying up peoples' opinions. I might have a go if I get bored. Would be easier if there was a poll. Even so, the people posting here are probably not an unbiased corss section of people who might get the game.
Watch out everybody, fact rolling through!
Sonya's not a character I use or particularly care about, so I have no strong feelings about this costume.
Though if I did, I'd just say give her a shirt. We have other MK females to fill the slut void she'd leave behind

This is nonsense on so many levels.
First of all,I hate to resort to this argument,if you want to get technical, the original creator and designer of the Sonya Blade character would be a Mr. John Tobias, who unfortunately could not be present here today.
Second of all,you can't spend several games establishing the character's personality and then randomly decide to do the opposite of what was established. You don't have to even be a fan to rage out - any reasonable, logical person would be annoyed by inconsistencies like this.
And finally, this might be news to you,but yeah, characters actually do tend to take a life of their own after they've been created. When the fans understand the character better than the creators, there's something not quite right with the picture.

Have we seen ANY "personality" from Sonya in this game yet? Have we seen how she walks, talks, fights? Do we know what her win pose is? What her storyline is going to be? Do we have a bio to help us out?
We just have a few images of her in a not-really-THAT-bad outfit. That HARDLY gives her a brand new personality. We've only seen a few superficial images.
I'll reserve judgment until I SEE her in the game, in action, talking smack and kicking ass. Then I'll decide if she's suddenly acting "out of character".

Yes, I agree... to a POINT.
How a character dresses is only PART of who they really are. Too many people are ignoring everything else. Does this person carry themselves with pride, or do they slouch? Do they speak clearly and loudly, or do they whisper and mumble? Is their expression soft and gentle, or stern and fierce? Does this person come from a good and happy background, or did they grow up in misery on the streets? What is this person's profession? What part of the world did they come from? What kind of friends do they keep? What kind of enemies do they have? Do they have a hidden vulnerable side or bottled up aggression? Do they have past trauma? Are they proud of their good looks or ashamed of their imperfections?
.... clothing is a good initial impression, but it is honestly a drop in the bucket for character development.

Crow's right. Anyone remember Sonya's tight clothes and man face in MK vs DC? People were drooling and raging over that, yet in story mode she was still the same SRS BZNSS Sonya we've come to know.

I 'spose if you're one of those people who spend all their time on video games and internet porn, yeah, I guess you probably wouldn't think a ridiculously revealing outfit makes a person look slutty. Either that, or you're living in an Amazon rainforest tribe.
