Nightwolf had it first in this game though, other games are irrelevant, I'm talking about MK9.

Don't misunderstand, I don't have a huge beef with Nightwolf or Rain using it, or anything. It's a minor quibble. Really, I wish they didn't, just as much for their own image. I feel there could be better weapons for their arsenal (I'm as much irritated by Nightwolf's use of the lightning as I am by the shadow trails behind his shoulder charge, and feel Johnny should sue).

It's just a part of what makes him special. He's got it crackling all over him, he's brought it down into his hands since MK1, he's popped heads with it, he's blown people to dust with it, he's grabbed people and shocked them with it, he's used it to stun, he's knocked people out of the air with it, he's tossed it front, back, and both ways, he's formed energy balls with it, he's channeled it through his staff, he's blown off limbs with it. You can practically see it in his eyes, in a manner of speaking.

He forms it at the tip of his finger and goes "Ah-ah! I don't think so" when he wants to be intimidating.

Like the song says: "Nobody does it better." (Alternatively: AC/DC's Thunderstruck also comes to mind)

I can't believe I'm defending this asshole after 2011's story mode. Wow.

If you think about it though, Nightwolf is a shaman, and a lot of video games I know has shaman using lightning powers.

Ok, now that I've settled down and got my bearings.

Rain looks extremely fun to play as. I mean just watching this trailer brings back so many memories of me dominating with him back in UMK3 for the SNES.

His win pose and his roundhouse kick brings so much nostalgia to this game. While this game is indeed packed with classic characters, a lot of them play and feel completely different than they once did. Sonya and Noob are some of those who truly returned to their roots and I'm happy to know Rain is amongst them. I couldn't ask for anything more.

I'm pleased.

The biggest hurdle was his gameplay and how people re-acted to that. Now on to his story which I'm hoping isn't just a retread.

Well, he is using the same animation from other characters who were released before him, so technically he is copying those moves. I'm not talking about if he had those since MKT or any other game, I'm talking about MK9, hence why this is in the MK9 forum.

That does not justify you ignoring the fact that Rain had those moves first. He does borrow some of the animations from other characters, that I agree with, but the actual moves were Rain's to begin with.

That I will not discuss since I know it's true except for the teleport, but I was referring specifically to the animations.

Then mind you to be just a tad more specific in your future posts, because your original post did not show you just talking about the animations.

First and foremost, screw you NRS for leaving him out in the first place. That wasn't cool, I missed him terrible. But now he's back, he's ROCKIN a new outfit, his classic moves are back (chuck norris aint got SHIT on that roundhouse!) and he's even got his powers totally revamped and improved upon. I forgive you NRS. Just don't mess with our heads like that with the next game yeah?

Hydrokinetic bubble which manipulates his enemies? Yes please!
Pop up synchronised lightning blasts? Yes please!
A stream of highly preassured water used as a weapon? Yes please!
Teleportation moves? Yes Fucking Please!

I couldn't really care if they remind me of noob's moves. Fuck Noob. Rain's owning that shit and I'd honestly be surprised if a man who was hydrokinetic could not manipulate hydrogen molecules in the air to teleport. His gameplay looks fast, seems to be a very kick orientated fighter (which I love!) and that armoured EX roundhouse looks like my new best friend.

Loving the first fatality (Almost died of pure joy when he used the water bubble, for a second I thought he was gonna use that hydraulic crush fatality I thought of) but loved how he uses it to inflate and explode his opponent. The second looked gruesome but reminded me of an amalgram of Quan Chi's second fatality more so than one of his own, but we'll see how that goes.

His Xray seems practical, swift and painful, but I was hoping he'd incorporate his powers into it. Considering he's using his power in both his entrance and win pose (Fucking EPIC win pose!!) though I'll look past that.

Omg. I want him. I want him right now. If he showed up on my doorstep and roundhouse kicked me into next week I'd love him even more. Absolutely loving everything about him, and true to my word he's looking like one of the easiest, most fun characters to play as with some wicked combo potential and stylish moves. I can already jizz myself to death thinking of the potential he has being teamed up with the likes of Kitana or Mileena.

I'm actually lost for words because I just keep watching that trailer on repeat. For so many months leading up to the release of this game I was begging for some glimmer of hope that we'd have Rain. Please god may he always stay, and that fans actually give him a chance to shine as the kick ass tempest inducing motherfucker he really is.

Welcome back Prince Rain. I'm sure Mileena, Kitana, Smoke and Jade wont be happy that I've all of a sudden ditched them for you, but they'll get over it.

@ Jaded: I actually can't describe how happy I am. I'm elated, I could comment for weeks about how cool Rain is turning out to be but I'm actually incapable of expressing how happy I am. It's just euphoric to see him again.
