Despite several artistic depictions of his moves, Scorpion's abilities have little to do with fire; the only fire-based attacks he ever had were his Fire Breath in MK4/Gold and the new Hellfire thing, which is more like him summoning fire from Hell as opposed to making it himself (I'm ignoring stuff like Shaolin Monks if he has any fireballs or whatever). Aside from some flashy explosions, his abilities are not really fire-based. Heck, when I think of fire, I'm more inclined to think about Liu Kang, not Scorpion.

This is true, and I understand that. My stance earlier was simply that Raiden, whose powers are completely based off of lightning (being the god of all of that and thunder, and whatnot) should ideally be the only person using electricity. It pissed me off when Nightwolf used lighting for his fatality in MK3, and it pissed me off when Rain used this in MKT. I know the move's Rain's, but dammit, I still don't think even after all these years, anyone should have lightning attacks but our resident thunder god.

And that proves that several characters can have fire-based moves. Then why is it such a big deal that Rain can conjure lightning?
To say that only one character can have a certain element is just narrowminded thinking, in my opinion. I am all in for character individuality, but Rain uses his lightning in another way than Raiden does, so I find it acceptable.

I had to suffer a bullshit computer. So I couldn't post until I got to another computer that wouldn't freeze every fucking 2 minutes after start up. I saw the trailer. But when I mentioned that Rain kicked the opponent and not punch in his teleport jet stream kick move and said that I was suprised that no one even picked up on it, everyone got super pissed at me. I felt alone, small and gangged up on
But your situation is by FAR worse. Not being able to see the damn trailer up until now? holy shit that's torcher.

It kinda irritated me when he started using them willy-nilly; prior to MKDA the only fire-based moves he had in his arsenal were the MK4 fire breath, Toasty, and MKT hell hand fatality.
It kind of serves the character's dichotomy with Sub-Zero, though I have to say I really preferred Scorpion when he didn't toss and summon flames left and right (not to mention having them all over his head a la Ghost Rider). Time was the flames just seemed to be more of a supernatural hidden power he could call on to execute a killing blow, rather than a weapon at his disposal twenty different ways.
Not really saying every character should be constrained to using a specific element or type; it's just that lightning is so much a part of Raiden - and always has been - it irks me to see it given to other characters.

What you basically want is the Power Rangers with each their own elemental power. Fair enough, that is your opinion.

"Strategy Zone" is just a general gameplay forum. It can serve as a Rain gameplay thread - if you wanted to discuss how the moves look, this thread works for that.

And I LOVE his intro. I also love the end of it, it shows off how much of narcissistic douchebag he is without even having to speak.
Ok, the cons so far is-
His X-Ray. I think they could've done a better job with it. It's more of the same. I wouldn't be surprised if there is still more to it but from the bit I've seen it's just OK. It doesn't really stand out.
Everything else is top notch. His clothes aren't as bulky as I was thinking they would be. I'm pleased!
He looks badass. Now for his Vignette!

Then this very thread should be there as well, as it is a trailer with Rain's gameplay. Oh, but look... IT ISN'T!
I am very much aware what belongs where, and I do my best to post the right threads in the right forums, and I posted my Rain thread in THIS forum, because that is where I found it most relevant to be.
With my Jade thread, which was moved by Mick-Lucifer back in the day, many other users agreed with me that it did indeed not belong in the Strategy Zone forum.
I disagree with your decision.

No. Kindly re-read my post, especially the part where I said, "Not really saying every character should be constrained to using a specific element or type; it's just that lightning is so much a part of Raiden - and always has been - it irks me to see it given to other characters." I am just talking about Raiden and lightning here. If you haven't noticed, half the reason I criticize any demand for Tremor is for that exact reason, the desire for there to be an "Earth ninja".
I'm not bitching about Sektor or Liu Kang throwing fire. I don't think it 'belongs' to anybody. Just Raiden and lightning, that's all. It's as much a trademark of his as ice is Sub's.
But if we want to just look at it straight up? MK's ninjas are already at 'Power Rangers' status, basically. Not that shadow, smoke or acid are actual elements, but shit, they've pretty much converted the ninjas into specialty characters.

Err, in reality, Rain was originally the one with the Lighting move that was then given to Nightwolf.

Its easy to mistake this as some people still believe that Rain was introduced in Trilogy, not UMK3.
Though to go all the way to label someone a "dumb ass" for probably misinterpreting that Rain had the move first wasn't really necessary, ya know.
