To be honest, I do miss unmasked looks for most of the ninjas, I wouldn't mind a return to that style for Sub (minus the amulet, its effects, and the scar now since I'm not sure it would fit this timeline anymore), and MK4 Reptile (I still can't believe people hated that look for him).

It has to have the scar. The scar is the whole POINT of showing him with his mask off, without it, he's just a boring, ordinary looking cleanshaven average joe-type. Who gives a shit about Sub-Zero's face if not for the scar? Fuck canonicity, it has nothing to do with story mode, it's just for arcade and vs.

Kenshi's arcade ending follows Deadly Alliance and has the OIA and Jax's tech portal in it, two things which can't exist in the new timeline, so obviously it doesn't need to matter.

As far as MK4 Reptile...my only problem with it was the purple pants and metal diaper.

Same here, even though we're getting Rain now (who's awesome!), the game still feels incomplete because of the missing MK3 SZ costume. I asked Hans Lo about it... he was like "why this?" I told him why but he didn't answer anymore. I see that lots of fans on different forums/web sites want this specific costume for S-Z.
I think they should put it in there just for the hardcore fans and the nostalgia. After all, Scorpion or Reptile or Kitana/Mileena etc... didn't wear the classic outfits during story mode, but we still got them, for nostalgia. They should do the same with MK3 unmasked and scarred Sub-Zero costume. I hope it returns!

Say what you will though, the water effects look nice, water pressure sword slice is neat (Subs kori blade may sue), bubble is also ok. So at least in motion he looks all correct.

but I *assure* you Ermac is drowning for several, *painful* seconds there

I don't know if it's just me but the bubble fatality makes me cringe. All that water pressure going in your lungs and blowing them up filling in the rest of your insides, plus the fact that your suffocating! Fucking ouch. And the cherry on top is (even though not shown yet but safe to assume) blowing up at the end.

I'm pretty sure we all can take a guess that Rain's first fatality involves the victim to explode. Not necessarily drown as Chrome was pointing out.
