I do have to say though, where the hell is the storyline going. . . pretty scary.

We said the last 3 MKs (not icluding MKSM) were lame . We had to see the worse to appreciate the bad.

As for this "being MK8", I just have to assume it is because that's what the news post says and Bishop is a very thorough reporter. He's there live, he's spoken to Ed Boon and company, he knows what's going on for sure. I can only police the boards and fly by what little knowledge I have picked up.

This is Midway we're talking about here... producing two games at once? That seems a tab unreasonable to me. Surely you guys don't believe this MKvsDC is actually the "future" of MK forever and ever. I'm assuming this is just a one time crossover, but I am under the impression this is the fighting game that Midway churns out every two years, and that this will be it until 2010. Those are just my impressions, mostly coming from the fact Bishop is reporting this is the MK fighter they have been working on, and I don't see any reason why it should be doubted.

You have to remember last year a little girl was killed in a mk related incident and once again midway was blamed for it.

Sub-Zero will be helpless before him... If it's hot out... and he doesn't actually have to fight... and can summon a whale to land on Sub-Zero... FATALITY!

I certainly dont see this as 'The New MK' that will continue on the story for years to come. More like a stop gap until the next MK game.

DC can be 'dark' though so in some wasy they do 'fit'.

Bit weird though. Especially since most of the DC characters are superheroes. Im not sure I would have classed many of the MK universe as superheroes in the same respect.

I don't know what to think at this point.

On one hand, I'm disappointed that this isn't the real sequel to Armageddon. A lot of what makes Mortal Kombat: Mortal Kombat could be removed. It could be a DC Universe game with some Mortal Kombat characters thrown in, just to sedate the Mortal Kombat fans who have been waiting for MK8.

On the other, there is a part of me that is somewhat excited about the potential roster. DC Comics headline stars Vs Potential MK Roster based on the classic, recognisable MK Characters. Hell you wouldn't even need to mix and match. You could just have DC Vs DC and MK Vs MK.

On the other hand (Think Goro here) Its hard to get excited about anything Mr Boon does anymore. As much as I enjoyed Deadly Alliance to Armageddon they weren't brilliant games.

On the other hand, The Mortal Kombat brand was actually selling quite well. Didn't Armageddon, Shaolin Monks and Deadly Alliance sell in excess of a million units each? What I'm saying is that I don't think Mortal Kombat needs the DC universe tag as well and it reeks of desperation and trying to cash in on the Street Fighter Vs Marvel Super Heroes brand.

Think about it. They are considered in many peoples eyes the rival brand. Despite Street Fighter only just been rejuvenated with a sequel and Mortal Kombat's move into 3D, many people still see Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter as rivals.

In all, I'm worried, not because OMFG FUKKEN SHIT DC KHARACTERS IN MY MORTALE KOMBAT EIGHTE FUCK YOU EDWARD BOON! >=O I'm worried because I can't see the point in the game really. But then again, I couldn't see the point in the Marvel Vs Capcom games either.

I guess I'm against Vs games that make no sense, plus the attempt to put their (Midway, Capcom) own characters in the same league with recognisable characters from movies and comics (DC, Marvel). Lets be honest wouldn't you prefer a 100% DC Universe fighting game developed by Midway while the Mortal Kombat series is put on the backburner for a little while? Then maybe throw in some Mortal Kombat characters in for OMG!

exactly what midway thinks; we will buy anything and make any mk a million seller. alas, despite bad reviews, i have continued to support every mk game (minus special forces) but i will not support teen comic crap. if this is all there is one less copy of the game will be sold. if millions of others think this is grand news then hooray for them.
