Since MK2 Mileena became by ultimate fav! I loved her look, moves, storyline from the first time I played her! So now that she's given time in the spotlight my love for her grew even more!
I also like Rain, Sheeva and Ermac a lot! I loved them all since UMK3...hopefully the first 2 get some time to shine this time like Ermac who became awesome in MKD!

The best gay characters are the ones you normally wouldn't expect to be one and are not obviously acting as such. Sonya could make an excellent homosexual character if I wanted to fuck with everyone's, espeially Queve's mind.

Let me bring up a different example. I find Azumanga Daioh! absolutely rioting hillarious to the point of tears. It is a girls school err, "drama" comedy, but none of the cast adhere to stereotypical schoolgirl stereotypes: none of them are jocks, glassed shy top students, cheerleaders, traditional airhead japanese students... well.. aside Osaka, but she is a complete world of weird even for me...

None of them are adhering to stereotypical or expected norms, and that makes it real life, a personality, a someone who might as well be real next door. This is the element of Surprise that is needed in character development, just ask Bezou.

I have to agree with the Kano comments (especially Trevor Goddard's Kano look), if I was Sonya I'd be chasing after him for much different reasons ;) Although Jax, Johnny Cage and Rain are fairly hot too in all due respect!

My least favourite male character is Liu Kang. Never really did warm to him.

My least favourite female character is Li Mei. She drove me insane during the PS2 era of the games, especially when she had the Sai as her weapon (it's Mileena's....back off bitch ¬.¬)

That's a LOT of effort just to keep up a beard though. What with the whole SWEARING REVENGE EVEN BEYOND THE GRAVE!!!!!!! thing and all.

Since MK3 he's always been my favorite character to play as, right up there with Raiden, because:

A. Come on HE'S A FREAKING ROBOT!.

And

B. The other FREAKING ROBOT is red. I don't like red. (Whereas Green, Yellow, and Blue are my three favorite colors and have been since I was like three).

In addition, he has one of the three or four best personal storylines in the game, IMO (which is very important to me). SubZ is right up there too, but I started liking him as a character, I think, mainly because he was my aunt's favorite.

Favorite Female:

Sonya, easily:

She is, in my honest opinion, one of the most respectable female characters in fighting games (or was up until MK vs DC) as far as costumes go. Never oversexed, never in something completely ridiculous for fighting. Her 90s costume was kinda corny, but that was mainly the color scheme in combination with the 90s headband. I like that. Her and Chun Li, first ladies of the genre. And it helps that she also has a fairly strong storyline in the whole Special Forces -> OIA arc.

As a side note, I am personally put off by her MK 2011 costume. Green has always been kind of her thing for one and the all black is off putting. And for two how does she keep that thing on/those things in?

Nah, that was my reasoning when I picked up MK3 when I was 6 before beating the game.

Woah, just woah... I saw this as a very good sign of acceptance but I never expected this thread to go to 14 pages and only one hater (and one bad joke but I really don't think the smoke ciggars joke was trying to be offensive). As a straight guy who believes on tolerance and had litle to no faith on the internet respect, I'm amazed.

About the lists of favourite characters, I see that Rain is one of the most popular among "gaymers". This summed to the fact that in most circles he is considered the least loved character makes me think that probably 90% of his fans are gaymers, wich summed to the clean slate that is his biography and origings and his colour elections that are usually asociated with feminism (I'm not sure if this is the word to use, I'm not native english speaker and can't translate wich I wanted to say properly) could be the start of a gay kharacter, but as most of you stated, not making it the major focal aspect of his personality.

Subby is also popular but he is popular overall, and he have some sort of story wich Sareena. Kung Lao have been also mentioned but I don't see him either as gay, and I also want him having a relationship with Jade. I'm sure this one would be much much better than Liu Kang x Kitana because the other two have a better personality and aren't so tied to their positions.

As for least favourite characters:

Male would be Rain. Female would be a tie between Frost and Ashrah... maybe Ashrah if I can only pick one.

To go against the rules of this forum is to earn skull points and eventually a ban if it continues. That much I understand and I respect the mods for actually doing something about it, something that many other forums lack. Good job, guys!

As to what characters in MK might be gay, well, the two couplings I chose earlier are guys who have no romantic ties with any female characters. As mentioned above, Scorpion had a wife who he seeks vengeance on, so he can't be gay. I don't think he even thinks about sex at all anymore. He's an undead and probably doesn't have such cravings any longer.

Sub-Zero seems to have something going on with Sareena. Might not be something serious, but he does seem to have a weakness to those cute little girls with a fierce personality, Frost being the other. He might just have a father/daughter complex with them, wanting to protect them and all...

Kano... this might be a movie reference, but I always got this obsessive vibe from him about Sonya. Some perverted attraction to her and loving that a gorgous woman is trying to hunt him down. So I don't see him as a possible gay man either.

Kung Lao is a warrior monk. His dedication to his order and his cause makes it unlikely that he is homosexual, if even sexual at all. He might be sworn to celibacy, along with Liu Kang, and that their relatinship is much more a brotherly rivalry than anything romantic. And also, it seems like the whole Liu Kang/Kitana romance seems a bit one sided, seeing as Liu Kang turned down Kitana's offer in his MK4 ending. If a man loves a woman, he will give up his past to form a future with that woman...

I could definately see Jade as being a lesbian woman. She is strong and fierce, beautiful and sexy, and very dedicated to Kitana... As suggested earlier in this thread, maybe "too" dedicated to simply be a best friend. Who knows...

I could see Jarek as a gay man as well. He seems far too pretty and clean compared to the other rough Black Dragon clan members. He might just be metrosexual, but it's a cute idea that the Black dragon clan doesn't disciminate like that, as long you got the killer instinct and brutality that is required to be part of the clan.

However, as mentioned before, the best gay characters are those who are subtle about it and not all in your face about it, especially in a fighting game such as Mortal Kombat. For example, in MKA's Konquest mode, when meeting Reiko, he actually has a pleasant voice and approaches Taven in a calm and intelligent way instead of attacking head-on... I know this sounds like an offensive cliché, and I apologize for that, but the fact that he approaches Taven like that when Reiko is known for his brutal ways could suggest that he might be gay. Compared to those we more or less know are straight who are alot more aggressive and head-on in their ways, Reiko seems more smooth which wasn't one of the traits that would be expected from him.

Do I make any sense with my logic here, or does it just sound like crazy-talk to you guys? XD

I'm more of an observer then a poster here and I def noticed that there seemed to be a huge dare I say it "gaymer" community here. I'm very much str8, but I'm glad to see such a great amount of diversity on a board. At the end of the damn day we all only live once, and I believe that everyone should spend their time on this earth doing what makes them happy.

Anyways back on topic.. I'm def a str8 dude that ALWAYS use females in games the most. I love speedy combo worthy type of characters and girls usually fall in that catigory. Even tho Stryker is my top fav in the mortal kombat jade, sonya, and mileena are very close behind.
