I don't think having that kind of generalization is a good thing.

I think it's better to branch out to particular species, especially those as unique as the mimic octopus.

Fuck Keldeo.

Here's an exposing of MissingNo. *Maybe not the exact subject of the topic but close enough being in a recent Pokemon thread about R/B/Y.

I designed a fire type lion that evolved into an egyptian-style sphinx. Back before there were more 'mon than god.

I also had the idea for a grass-evolution of Eevee way before they made one.

I fixed my Silver cart with new battery, thanks for the advice people tongue

I chose Chikorita, because there was no grass - Eevee in gen 2.

Only if they add more slots on your squad. Let's do the math:
one Eevee + three original evolves + two more evolves from gen 2 + two more evolves from gen 4 = 2 more than one can have in a squad of six!! Given that there are now over 500 to choose from (!) a squad of just six is about 1% of all available 'mon.

Before it was limiting. Now it's diabolical.

A fire Lion starter sounds really cool, actually. Not sure how it hasn't happened yet.

I'd like the next gen to start us off with a fire lion, water polar bear and grass horse (first stage would look like MLP)

That really shouldn't be an excuse. Find new designers if you're out of ideas.

Also, the great/good/tolerable Gen V designs, IMO:

They really aren't all bad, though some are undeniably shite. Genesect's the coolest looking legendary since at least Gen III.

... I really need to play it. ._.

I took the liberty of making a cut list myself, knocking it down to an easy 120, the amount it should've been.

I think a much more effective way to have generations could be to release only about 60 to 80 pokemon at a time, only those that we would see throughout the story of the game, such as the legendaries and the pokemon of the gym leaders, Elite Four, and Champion, evolutions included.

Also, there should be no set standards for starters. They could be any type, the amount of starters could range from 2 to 5, and starters can still be found in the wild at varying rarities.

I think this alleviates the overwhelming task of "catching them all" and reduces the amount of unobtainable pokemon, as well as the chance of unpopular pokemon being cast aside and shelved as rare pokemon in later games.

I wish they would just make the more realistic game they could make in terms of pokémon location/rarity. I always thought it was completely retarded that you couldn't find Bulbasi in the wild. I would watch the cartoon, see shitloads of Charmandi in the wild and think "what the fuck? Why can't I find one?". The least they could've done in the game is acknowledge the rarity of the starters.
Also the Squirti. I wanted to say that in plural too.

I'm kinda fed up with them shoving SO MANY legendaries at us now. I didn't really bother after gen 3 much anyway until i bought SSBB and saw how they'd expanded into some good areas - but then gen 5 was a bit of a let down.

On a related topic my starter reached his final evolvution this morning i'm now the proud trainer of a lv 32 meganium as the head of my team. Golbat was happy enough to evolve into Crobat, and i found a moon stone for Jiggly (who is now Wiggly). I caught Scyther in the bug catching contest too. I had a busy morning.

Hypothetically what would other type Eevees be called?

Toxeon (poison) Drakeon (dragon) Deatheon (ghost) ???

Possible Eevee names for future types:

Toxeon (Poison) from the word Toxic
Phanteon (Ghost) from the word Phantom
Terreon (Ground) from the word Terra, Latin for Earth.
Secteon (Bug) from the word Insect
Quartzeon (Rock) coming from Quartz, a type of rock.
Draggeon (Dragon) from the word Dragon
Lucheon (Fighting) from the Luchar, Spanish for Wrestling.
Titaneon (Steel) from "Titanium" a type of metal

Just ideas...

I actually like these ideas. Especially the spanish one. What about a flying-type? Wingeon?

I gripe about there being too many rare ones, but there are plenty of others to go around. My biggest frustration is not being able to trade-evolve. sad no Gengar

I want Girafarig to evolve. I hope they don't give it a baby pokemon though... I'm not a big fan of baby pokemon, except for Togepi.

Togepi works because you can only get it as an egg and it feels like you have to work for your Togetic/Togekiss. Gen 4 did a fairly good job with babby Pokemon, making them all available in the wild, and the only way to obtain stuff like Snorlax or Sudowoodo without trading. I'm fine with them if their sole purpose isn't to be "cute", and can be caught in the wild. Design wise I liked most of the Gen 4 babies as well. Mime Jr. is hideous but Munchlax and Bonsly were good. Also I don't see why Riolu needed to be classed as a baby Pokemon but whatever.

As for Pokemon that need evolutions, I don't think ALL of the first generation need them, but some would be cool. Parasect, Arbok, and Weezing I'd love to see (Poison/Dark for both, maybe Poison/Ground for Arbok2). Jynx, Mr. Mime, Tauros, Pinsir... maybe. I don't think Lapras or Aerodactyl need one even though they'd probably be awesome.

I doubt it's going to happen, just because there was no evolve relationship between gen 5 and everything previous to it, even though a couple looked like they were. I think you mentioned the similarity between Amomomola and Luvdisc.

What would Girafarig evolve into? A giraffe with more tails with brains? Scary thought. Or are you thinking the tail would become the dominant half?

Personally, i like the babies. Magby, Pichu, Smoochum & Wynaut especially.

I'd love to see an evolved form of Sableye. It reminds me of the cute little demons in Fantasia. But again, i doubt it will happen *pout*

If I may, this sounds fun:

Normal - Baseon (from the word Basic)
Poison - Venomeon (from the word Venom)
Ground - Jareon (from the Japenese word Jari, meaning gravel)
Rock - Bouldreon (from the word Boulder)
Fighting - Sumoeon (from the word Sumo, a Japanese style of wrestling)
Flying - Achreon (modified from the Greek word Akros, meaning height)
Bug - Apexeon (from the word Apex, a body part found on insects)
Ghost - Spectreon (from the word Spectre, a synonym for ghost)
Dragon - Quetzeon (from Quetzalcoatl, a dragon god in Aztec mythology)
Steel - Metaleon (from the word Metal)

Did I do good?

I'm not sure if Eevee should have a direct evolution from his normal form to another because that would overshadow the other branches. But if it would, the new name should resemble the base name "Eevee" (which obviously comes from "evolution"). Spectreon and Quetzeon sound fun whereas... I'm not too fond with e.g. Metaleon. Gotta give some respect to the metal, yeah? Kangaskhan's name alone refers to the kangaroos:

Kangas' Khan i.e. Kangaroos' leader
