I can't help you out much but I'll try to shed some light.
In order to play UMK3 on a PC you will need to emulate, or imitate the finction of another system, it since there was no UMK3 version for PC. You can emulate the actual arcade game, or a home system (SNES, sega genesis).

Emulation is a controversial topic. I believe generally it's legal, but a large amout of people that use it, use it illegally. The programs themselves are legal but the games (ROMs or game data file) are the controversial topic. DON'T ASK WHERE TO GET THEM. The whole deal on this is pretty similar to downloading music. You are allowed to download stuff... as long as you have the original... but who does that? the programs themselfs like kazaa and limewire are fine, it just depends on how you use it. This idea relates to anything really. Knifes are legal to buy, buts it's not very nice to stab people with it.

Now with the emulator (program you can download) you can do something what is called "Net play". YAY! There's more to explain but you just said you wanted to play them, so let's leave it there for now... I can't help you there anyway.

It probably depends on what country you are in as well. In the US roms are pretty much always illegal. Some people started saying that if you own the game you can legally download a ROM of it but I see that more as an internet myth, like it being legal to download music if you only keep it for 24 hours. There are rules saying you are allowed to keep backup copies of software, but only in the same medium as the original. So maybe if you have an SNES game it is legal to make a second copy of the game onto a blank cartridge. But, to put it on a computer or CD or anything else changes the medium so its not legal.

Which reminds me, I have to pop a keyboard controller into the ghetto half built arcade stick I have here and try to get some practice in. I doubt I'll be able to plug in a keyboard for this one.

Also looking for some moderators to host so that you can monitor the matches for fairness. I myself will be in charge of the brackets and hosting a UMK3. I will not play and whoever mods/hosts an UMK3 game should'nt play either, but I leave that up to you. Now we have 3 different servers. Godweapon, Anti3D, or The Team -X- Server. Which server do you guys prefer?

MOE30W?
Free select codes? how do I get cheat.dat?
How can you moderate?
best of 3 on 1-on-1? Isn't it normaly like that, 3 rounds per match? Or do you mean 3 matches?
What's MAME? Is this on MAME? You didn't say.

no thanks...those rules are stupid...that's like saying you must use throw disabled code, fuck that...just another way of saying "I don't want to hold d/b+block because it makes my counter attack slower"

Juergen I will run a UMK3 tournament soon on Kaillera, but I will not participate in it. I have organized and ran many tournaments online and I think more people would be receptive to me running it. Anyone on Kaillera will be able to enter, not just people on my Dark Addictz team.

Well we can do your tournament as well. See I think it's fair and balanced if every character is allowed plus the 3 hidden ones plus Human Smoke and Noob Saibot. No Rain, Motaro, or Shao Kahn (freezes game)

Is it really worth all the trouble to get Noob Saibot in there?
Man, I thought most people had gotten over the throwing issue by now. Saying a throw it unfair is like saying a sweep is unfair (because you have to hold DOWN to block it, I mean come on!). And comparing UMK3 throws to MKD throws doesn't even make sense!

Yeah, pretty much the same as saying sweeps are unfair. But, UMK3 didn't have an "Easy Mode," so turning off throws is the next best thing.

Ok I will take out the "winner keeps the same character rule". Also, Kombat Kodes are not allowed since it alters the game. We will vote for Noob Saibot. So if there are more posts that do not want Noob Saibot playable, then he will not be playable. But everyone should have MOE30W codes for Sub Zero, Mileena, and Ermac.

Does UMK3 Noob have any special moves?

No. He has the ninjas regulars (which is good) and a set of combos like Kano's, same button hits, although I thought he had a couple of his own combos that Kano didn't have as well. And he is fast as hell.
