Just why is that character so requested by the MK fanbase? What does he have going for him, exactly?

Gameplay-wise, I'm not sure his abilities as a wind elemental can make him different enough from Sindel, Kung Lao and Ermac, the three characters he copies. Could NRS really manage to individualize him enough from these three to make his gameplay more memorable?

Storywise, I must again ask: what's the big deal? His whole story is about replacing Raiden as the protector of Earth. I think Raiden's ascension as an elder god was one of the series' most pointless character developments anyway. Sure, Raiden turning heel allows Fujin to succeed him as the good protector, but then, how different would he be from the good Raiden, personality-wise? I suppose if they could make him more than a wind-based Raiden, he might improve a bit as a character, but I doubt he'd be more than that.

Finally, his design. Wow, it blew me away. With it's blandness.

He's not even irritating enough to be fun killing, like Scorpion, though I guess his fanbase squealing for him could make that enjoyable, but it's funnier when he's once again left out of a game.

What obsession? Nobody truly cares for Fujin, he's very popular right now because he hasn't been seen in years, but after he majes another playable appearance, he'll be not so popular again.

The MKO tournament doesn't mean shit, if that's what you're referring to.

Fujin was actually my favorite character in MK Mythologies Sub-Zero.
But that isn't so hard. lol.

He was a wish come true in MK4. I always gave Kung Lao the wind-based powers, but with a real wind god it was easier for me.

He sucked in all the games he appeared in, but that is Boon & Co's mistake, he has much potential in X, as they all have 3 fighting styles and much cool stuff can be done with his wind powers.

Sometimes a characters powers can make the characters liked, other characters have it on design and story.

Sub-Zero is mostly liked because he's about ice, if he wasn't about ice i'm pretty sure he wouldn't have that many fans. Its the same with fujin and wind.

His story is bland, but then again, 90% of the stories are bland and boring.

I always create my own MK story anyway, and Fujin got some pretty awesome roles in my last ones.

How do you figure he copies Sindel, Kung Lao and Ermac? They don't have that special ability.

I like Fujin, but yea he is a pretty blank slate, the wind "theme" has a lot of potential for moves and what not.

Also, why is that when ever a character gets discussed someone makes a thread like this?

Because everybody is bored and hyped for more information.

When people hunger for information, hell breaks lose, and this forum turns into a MK Battlefield itself.

It seems that Havik would like to stay on this forum, more chaos he would need is hard to find elsewhere.

He can fly, like Sindel, has Kung Lao's dive kick, and his whirlwind move is also similar to Kung Lao's spinning one, even though it works a little differently, any wind-based moves where the opponent is lifted or blown away is essentially like a less precise version of Ermac's telekinesis, and finally, his skinning fatality was almost exactly like Sindel's shrieking one. All these moves and that fatality do make sense for him, but they also make him too similar to all of these three characters.

I've learned to tolerate shared movesets, so long as the "copycat" has at least a unique design or personality, and potential as a character. Which is the case for some of them, like Kira and Ashrah, but not for Fujin, imo. So basically, Fujin lacks an individual moveset, a good story, and a memorable design. But if they can improve the latter two, then he could be a worthwhile character.

I like Fujin because he's ripe with potential. Plus he rocks a mean hairstyle. Gameplay wise, there's a lot Wind can do. NRS is very creative, so I know they'll give him some great moves. Just hope his Flying Knee returns, that was always my favorite move of his.

Design wise, I don't honestly care. I thought his MKA look was pretty good. So an updated version of that would suffice for me. (Just please no capes.)

Character and story wise, it couldn't be a better time to reintroduce Fujin into the games. Raiden clearly needs help, and Fujin is the perfect guy to help. Fujin could be a strong and wise leader. (What Raiden was supposed to be anyway)

I can't say people here are obsessed with Fujin either. He hasn't ever even had a chance to become overrated. He's a decent character who just really hasn't had a chance to shine. So come MKX, hopefully NRS can deliver the Fujin we've been waiting for.

I'm laughing at how you think he "copied" three characters' movesets. Really?

I don't have a huge interest for this character. I only liked his crossbow and that was it.

Have been a huge supporter of Fujin since MK4 and ever since. This talk that he isn't popular is complete bullshit. Lol

Also, I've had enough of Raiden. Don't get me wrong, Raiden is spectacular. Just a little too much of him being tied directly to what the heroes are up to. Move over for a few games or have him as DLC. Fujin please.

I'm mainly infatuated with Fujin because I keep hoping that one day he'll be able to take over Raiden's spot and that maybe Raiden can finally, FINALLY, go sit his ass down somewhere. Tired of Raiden.

You mean float right? Cyber Sub also has a dive kick and Kung Lao's is a spinning shield, Fujin's is not.

So other characters are allowed to have copied moves, but, its not ok for Fujin? Give me a break.

Fujin was a cool character that popped for two (three but I don't really count MKA tbh) games that people want to see back. Same as any other sparingly reoccurring character.

And there you have my reason to like Fujin as well. Him becoming Earth's protector after MK4 is canon, yet we never see him actually taking over Raiden's role! Thunder god sticks around as the leading character of the goodies I appreciate Raiden and his lightning powers very much, but that role should be given to Fujin as he became Earth's protector during those days.

There's no one else in MK manipulating wind, so I take him over many characters that are fire based IMO. They've revamped many characters during MK9 in a great way and I want that treatment for Fujin. He could be awesome!

I've always wanted for Fujin to take Raiden's place in the story, especially after MK4 when Raiden becomes an Elder God. Well, Fujin -did- become the Earthrealm Protector then, but he was never around to actually do anything before MKA which I think was a shame. I quite like Fujin and I hope he has his crossbow in MKX. ^^

Definately! Fujin has got the short end of the stick since MKA. He was supposed to have a Wind Staff which he held like Hotaru's Naginata, most likely to be different from how Raiden's staff and Jade's staff works, but instead they gave him that Devastator sword, simply because the MK team thought it was too cool to discard. However, he should've had his crossbow. It is unique and gives him alot of zoning possibilities which works well with his wind powers. Catching the opponent in a wind trap and then shoot the crap out of them would be so cool! :D

If he uses it differently than he did in MK4, why not? As a projectile attack? Every character has projectiles, Fujin didn't that time.

The crossbow could work as Green Arrow's bow, with normal shots that does little damage, but mainly works to keep the opponent at a distance, and then he could charge it or shoot it in different directions, like the zig-zag shot in MK4.

I do too but didn't the team say something along the lines of how that was an awful weapon choice? I want to say in Fujin's Armageddon bio card. Doesn't mean it's impossible, I'm just throwing that out there.

I'm excited to see Fujin get some spotlight. I hope he's more of a Pai Mei type in the role as Earthrealm protector. Stern, straightforward and full of wisdom. He can take Raiden's place, but lawd I just hope he doesn't interact with the mortals exactly the same as Raiden does.
