Yeah, I think that's kind of really what's making this blow up on NRS more than it otherwise might have.

The comic brought us back to Shang Tsung's island. Fleshed out characters from the 3D games who'd been forgotten in new ways that made them interesting (I went from not giving a crap about Reiko to actively wanting him in the game). It brought in aspects of the plot of MKD, but didn't retell the same story. It mixed them up in a new and interesting way. We had the Kamidogu, but no mention of Onaga. We had Havik, but he's pulling other people's strings instead of Kabal's and Hotarus.

It was just more fleshed out and well told for both the big and the small characters.

Wheras the game plot kind of... Paused MK4's plot for 25 years, let the old characters get old, and raise some new young characters... And the new young characters seem to be the only ones who are well developed because of it. Then unpaused and just let the young heroes kill Shinnok instead of the old ones.

I called that shit. I knew Shinnok would be the boss, hyped him up too much at the beginning to not be.

Only thing I am bummed out about is the length. Seems mega short. I bet I will clear that shit in like 2.5 hours.

Dark Raiden? Fuck yeah.

Bad guy Liu and Kitana? Fuck yeah.

Can't wait to see how it plays out. Just wish it was longer.

Fuck. Shouldn't have gone to sleep last night, but we are in agreement and apparently a wee bit in the minority here.

I like this, guys, I honestly do. They are continuing to reference things they did in the past but with a new twist. I like it.

- Dark Raiden? Was always interesting to me, a God teetering on the edge of his own sanity, blinded by his need to protect a realm at any cost, no fucks given. Even better still, this opens the door for a potential conflict between Raiden and Fujin now that Fujin got to share in some of the spotlight. Hopefully from the praise he received, NRS were paying attention.

- Liu Kang and Kitana, Rulers of the Netherrealm? Depending on how they work it in MKXI, could be the most interesting thing to happen to those characters since 2002.

- The potential deaths? This is a world full of magic, gods and such; Shinnok will find his way back, even Sektor will find his way back.

- Even if they don't go the Onaga route in MKXI, the door is still wide open for a few more of these 3D era characters to return. They have set themselves up for great things here with the Netherrealm, Outworld and now Earthrealm being trolled ("Protected") by Dark Raiden just in terms of story.

They took some risks with the story this time around and until I see it in full I cannot comment on whether I think it was fully successful or not, but I like what I'm hearing and I like what it sets up for the future. There are still quite a few characters who could become big players and who may not put up with Raiden being an out of control deity; Fujin, Bo Rai Cho, the Scooby gang... yes, it's true, this is not quite what we were expecting but isn't that better than your run-of-the-mill, cookie cutter experience where we could've guessed everything that would eventually come to fruition? Or is that just me? After the cluster fuck that was MK9's story experience, I wanted something for MKX that would hit me in the gut and make me say WOAH! WHAT THE FUCK!? In this case, they succeeded.

It's fascinating. With MK9's ending, a bunch of people were mad that the heroes died, and the fans of the villains basically told us to get over it.

Now, a bunch of villains are dead, and the second half is raging while the fans of the heroes who died don't really feel any better.

well,came back,read the ending.
i gotta see the rest of story mode to pass my judgment,but the ending seems an extreme cop out(hello? Havik? Reiko?)
hell,Kang and Kitana being rulers of the Netherrealm,so then,what happened to Noob Saibot? you can't tell me they literally are gonna follow with this in MK11,in order to give Saibot a bigger role.
Sektor's death was yet another cop out.
Fujin's absence...well,that speaks for itself.
While the game seems an amazing fighting game...good god it's story mode is WORSE than MK9!
I can't believe the most interesting thing have been the NPC fights.

Also, after seeing Shinnok is in his demon form in the final fight, I am cool with him being the boss. They did him well this time.

lol reading this thread reminds me of how this site used to be during the 3d era.

Better than coke.

Boon and company lying through their teeth about unlockables and shit for pre orders, day 1 dlc, unfinished characters in story mode, puzzling roster choices, and fans sucking up his juice like they walked straight out of the the gobi desert. Never gets old or changes on MKonline.

The story looks shit but that's not why this game is going to be played. This is the first MK in a long time to look SOLID in terms of gameplay. That's why it'll sell regardless of the leaks and potential piss poor metacritic (user) scores.

For anyone interested the REAL super unlockable it has been and always will be my signature.

I've heard that Mileena is confirmed dead. We've only seen certain parts of the story so all of these questions can't be answered. Scorpion's chapter has him going on a fucking rampage trying to kill Quan Chi so I gather he kills him. Ferra/Torr, Ermac, Reptile and co. are unknown, as is Kotal.

Hmmm....

- Dark Raiden will be at odds with Fujin and Special Forces.
- Liu Kang and Kitana will attempt something devious in the Netherrealm.
- Brand new big bad completely or re-introduce "revamped" Onaga.
- A few more 3D characters brought back in main roster; Fujin, Bo, Frost, Tanya.
- Definitely won't attempt another time jump.
- A new rivalry to replace Scorpion/Sub-Zero one.
- A return for an old threat; Noob Saibot or Shang Tsung are possibilities.

That's what I am guessing at the moment.

Hmmm....

- Dark Raiden will be at odds with Fujin and Special Forces.
- Liu Kang and Kitana will attempt something devious in the Netherrealm.
- Brand new big bad completely or re-introduce "revamped" Onaga.
- A few more 3D characters brought back in main roster; Fujin, Bo, Frost, Tanya.
- Definitely won't attempt another time jump.
- A new rivalry to replace Scorpion/Sub-Zero one.
- A return for an old threat; Noob Saibot or Shang Tsung are possibilities.

That's what I am guessing at the moment.


Sounds cool. I'm getting excited for MK11 and it's not even April 14th yet sad

How about a mysterious Edenian/Earthrealm hybrid living in Outworld and her village that adopts her gets massacred by a few Netherrealm demons and she has to watch her adopted family become massacred, and then she goes on a revenge quest after the rulers of the Netherrealm only for tragedy and revelation to occur?

Reminds me of when MK9 story leaked and everyone in here got their panties in a bunch with all the dead characters, well look how that turned out.

This will be the most successful MK game to date, no doubt about that!

lol I know, right? A lot of folks here who've only seen clips should just chill and relax for a while. A lot of stuff, especially viewed cut off from the rest of the product, can come off terrible. It's like listening to 30 seconds of a 5 minute song. A lot of the time, does not do the song justice. We should wait and see how everything looks and feels as a whole, not cut to pieces.

As for what people don't like, I mean, you can't please everyone. But I'd rather them take risks with the story than give us the same old, same old. We knew people were going to die and as far as I'm aware, we still don't know the fates of a shit ton of people but I have faith they know what they're doing and despite what Boon says, they know where they want to go in terms of the story.

Well was hoping will completely take over.

What about the other revenants? Are they brought back except for Liu & Kitana?


Only ones brought back are Jax and Sub Zero. Liu and Kitana rule the Netherrealm as revenants.

No ideia to what happened to Kotal Kahn, Ferra/Torr, Reptile, Kano, Jax, Erron Black and Ermac, they aren'r even mentioned in the final cutscene.
