Unless I missed something, Reiko isn't getting in

Call me crazy but i like the roster.
Put some high demanded 3D Era characters in as DLC and im happy.

I just want Rain.

Pretty bland roster to be honest. I'm cool with with the new characters but most of the returning ones I have no interest in. Was really hoping to see Noob and Reiko.

THE BEST ROSTER OF ALL TIME! Thank you NRS! Thank you for making all my dreams come true! I worried for agonizing months, but in the end it looks like all will be well! The entire MK1 cast together again for the first time in a game that doesn't make it a point to do so! Plus Jax, Kitana, Mileena Ermac, and Kung Lao as added bonuses and a bunch of neat looking new characters thrown in the mix for an all new story experience? Yes NRS, YESSSSS! People will hate, people will say "NEUGGGH MK9 2.0!!!" People will say, "Ugh, Jax and Johnny Cage are the worst most bland boring unoriginal characters ever, give me Dariou and Tanya!" but this fan is happy! And to all of you who don't like the roster, SOOOOOOOORRY!

Okay, that's enough. Sorry for gloating and sorry to all of you who had a favorite sitting out. High hopes for DLC! I'm hoping for Cyrax myself.

And on a side note, if anyone can get me a shot of Liu Kang from MKX that's not from the tower, they will be selling another pre-order for NRS.

The roster is good in my opinion. Think this is 100% accurate. There will be DLC and I think that's where they will bring Fujin, Tanya and some more MK4 Faces into it.

Replace Reiko with a possibility of Rain and it's accurate. Nothing has hinted at Reiko so far.

I'm not wild about it, but I'm hoping the backlash is strong enough to provoke the existence of Ultimate MKX.

In other words, a $15 ten character DLC expansion to fill the gaps. Even if the roster was good, I would have wanted this anyway if for no other reason it'll give NRS a reason to keep balancing the game after six months.

I feel as though every MK game goes through the same "what about ____!" nonsense. 40% Klassic(MKII) + 40% New + 20% Returning(MK3->) this has been a loose formula since MK4. These accusations about NRS hating the 3D era characters are totally baseless. They weren't in a crossover or a remake, that doesn't mean anything. A good chunk of MK3 newbies had to wait 2 actual sequels until Deception and a few more until Armageddon. In my opinion, this roster is great. There doesn't seem to be anyone thrown in just to have them in. I can't wait to play through the story and test the variations.

I hope Rain makes it in.

This guy gets it. I'm sure next game we'll get the roster variety some people want to see once the team is more settled in with the next gen tech.

IF I had it my way and was pressed for change, I'd have axed two of the offspring characters (probably Kung Jin and Jaqui) and instead went with some combination of Reiko/Fujin/Tanya/Bo' Rai Cho. That being said, I believe the likelihood of a couple of these latter four character becoming DLC are very high, so I'm totally chill.

Yeah, not mad at all. I'm ecstatic that all my top characters (Sonya, Johnny, Kano, Mileena) are in... but also I sympathize with those who have a favorite sitting out from the initial roster. I hope those of you will see them in the future; or better yet, that you end up being really impressed with one of the newcomers, and they give it to you so good you forget all about that OTHER individual.

I still think that a lot of MK3 guys like Nightwolf/Stryker/Kabal are going to return in the next game. If you want to count Jade as MK2 or UMK3 whatever, but they'll undoubtedly cycle in some classic characters again instead of the ones who made it for this game.

I'm more pissed about the roster being leaked, since the likes of Shinnok and Liu Kang would probably have been unlockables / not announced before release.

With the DLC also being hinted / revealed before release, what is there to discover character wise? I doubt there's a secret fight or something along those lines.

The roster is not bad, basically we now have all MK1 & MK2 playable characters, except for my favourite: Baraka and Shang Tsung. With Quan Chi more interesting and it was time for Shang to die just like Shao Kahn,

I see no reason why Baraka should be left out given that all playables return from the first wo games. He's one of the most creative characters ever, unique and pure evil who at least would make up for the lack of evil characters + in his mold.

If he's a DLC, the roster is fine by me since my Fav 5 are then in. Give Mileena some of his moves and a variation with his blades, it's not hard that she found teh ability to grow blades as she is half Tarkatan, and that would be fine too. Would make her a lot more bad ass as well!!

I would honestly take Baraka over Quan Chi.

I really don't dislike Quan Chi, but he's just becoming very stale motivation/story wise.

Speaking of Mileena being Tarkatan, I wonder why they never gave her shorter, sai-like arm blades. I mean yeah that'd be really silly and convenient to retroactively add like Spider-Man just happening to get organic web-shooters that worked exactly like his old mechanical ones, but whatever.

I'm kinda pissed off about the lack of Fujin. Just like Deadly Alliance, there's no reason for him not to be in this game.

Of course he will be DLC though.

I second this wholeheartedly, but I'm still disappointed and pissed off enough to rant about it. So, here goes!

NRS has seen it fit to discard highly requested 3D-characters and, instead, they've put the spotlight on MK9 returnees ... again. I'm especially disappointed with the lack of Fujin, because it's been one missed opportunity after another with his character. To make it worse for his fans, he's had more cameos than playable appearances.

Let's start with MKDA, shall we? Midway made Fujin's ending canon, and then made it pointless. I'm not salty about Raiden's inclusion, mind you, because he's my favourite, and this game brought my favourite Raiden alt to life.

They had yet another opportunity with MKD. Raiden's darker personality was the perfect time for Midway to bring Fujin back. But nope, all he got was a cameo, the first one of many.

Fujin came back in MKA, of course, but so did Mokap. He got his best character designs to date, and fun gameplay in a mediocre game.

He got a cameo in Liu Kang's MKvsDCU ending ... which is cool, I suppose?

And then came MK9, the reboot; the rebirth of the franchise. Someone discovered the hidden sound file in the game, which started the fan demand for him as DLC. And we got a guest character instead. Freddy is fine in my opinion - he played better than Sheeva, at any rate - but I would've given almost ANYTHING to see Fujin over him. Just to keep track of the cameos in this point: he was in Kratos's ending.

The ending of MK9 really got my hopes up for Fujin for this game. Ever since news of MKX being in development first surfaced in 2013, I've wanted him to be playable in this game. The announcements at E3 raised my Fujin hopes and made me worried for his prospects simultaneously. They could've done SO MUCH for him with the variation system. They can still do it if they want to.

From January until the end of February, I was worried about his prospects (again), but optimistic. Just because Kung Lao and Kitana had wind moves didn't mean that NRS didn't see Fujin's potential, right ... ? That was essentially my line of thinking. The Netherrealm War hints from the comics (and Fujin's appearance in them) kept my hopes up, mostly.

The story trailer came out, and while I loved it for the most part, Fujin's absence disconcerted me big time. All these leaks have pretty much killed my hopes of seeing him playable in the main roster. I could've lived without Sonya, Jax and Reptile being playable.

I really, really hope he's DLC, but even that is looking like an impossibility. It says volumes about NRS's priorities that they're re-tweeting the Tremor petition and milking the ninja craze.

TL;DR: Fujin might as well be the God of Cameos with all the nods to him in most of the post-MK4 games. I wanted him to be playable in this game pretty badly. I'm disappointed, but I will still buy the Komplete/GOTY version of the game if/when I can afford a current-gen console. Quite a few of my other favourites are playable, and I love Kotal Kahn.

The MKX roster isn't bad per se. It has a lot of fan favorites and the new characters seem positive overall. My personal issue is that the returning character selection seems too predictable and safe. I'm also worried about a potential lack of representation from the Brotherhood of Shadow along with Mileena's camp. They seem like the main antagonistic forces in this game but again it doesn't look like they will be represented well currently.

Ultimately I have to keep thinking to myself though that we don't know the final roster size right? It's premature to assume the worst already.

One of the best rosters ever imo, and DLC will make it even better.

Besides, where has the love for 3D character suddenly come from? I remember pre MK9 characters like Bo Rai Cho, Reiko, Tanay and Fujin were fucking despised. The mere mention of them started arguments on this forum and now people are crying over the fact we're not getting them? WTF happened?
