Tanya is great. She's incredibly fun to use in this game and I think NRS handled her as best as they could. Her design looks fresh, her fatalities are great and I love the sass persona she has going on.

Wrong. Jax was crap in MK2, but then they gave him the metal arms and he BECAME the Metal Arms Guy (well, Black Guy actually ,no pun intended ).

Mileena is the Crazy Chick with the Teeth, Baraka is the Monster with Blades for arms, Liu Kang is the Chinese Bruce Lee Guy, Kung Lao is the Hat Guy. And so on...

They didn't give Tanya anything to stand out. She was lacklustre. There's a ton that could be done with her character. She has a great story, but because they didn't treat her right she can't comepte with the Predator.

Therefore, we will be told that guest DLCs sell better, when in fact MK characters could sell even better if they just stood out.

I agree. I think they did a great job with Tanya, but because she as a character lacks a gimmick, trademark (Scorpion's spear and catchphrase, Mileena's teeth, etc...) or clear theme, she'll always be less memorable to an extent, even if she's well liked within the more invested community.

Takeda has overtaken Cassie Cage. Mileena has overtaken Sonya. Ermac has passed Kotal Kahn, with both of them likely to pass Sonya very soon. Ermac and Kotal should also pass Mileena as well since both of them are used more often than Mileena especially Ermac. Kitana has passed D'Vorah. Jacqui has passed Goro with Reptile very likely to follow. Predator as expected has lept up from bottom to 23rd. A damning indictment when he has only been released for three weeks and three months later.

Tremor was used over 6 million times by Kombat Pack owners which is very impressive since he came after the Predator who was incredibly popular on release. A comparison between Tanya, Predator and Tremor first week usages:

It is clear that Predator is extremely popular. Tremor did better than Tanya even though Tanya had a better launch window after Jason while Tremor only released two weeks after Predator. Time will tell if Tremor's usage dries up like it has for Tanya but he has got off to a better start than Tanya.

Yeah a predict a month from now Tremor/Tanya bottom 5, Preds/Jason top 10. Confirmation that next game will be half Trilogy klassics + half guest stars.

pffft. Skarlet had a clear gimmick but turned out to be the least played DLC. Its really more of a gender thing. The males in general will always be played more than the ladies in MK. Plus shes not a famous guest character.

Tanya could be the most OP character ever and still be the least played DLC. She had a recognizable design among fans imo. NRS almost did a poor job of retaining it in MKX until it was later fixed. Another thing i want to add is that shes basically a "new" character to casuals as are most 3D era characters.

The NRS team know that the MK DLC characters will never live up to iconic movie characters like Jason or Predator. So i don't think we need to worry about Tanya and Tremor's low usage numbers affecting future appearances.

The only existing female MK characters i could see having high usage numbers as a DLC character are Jade and Frost (despite being from the 3D era, the casual fans will definitely get the association with Subzero just by looking at her, thus making her more appealing to use)

Poor Jacqui. All that promo with the newcomers replacing the OGs and she still is 20th. Sad :(
Take a seat next to Mavado, Hsu Hao, Nitara, Frost, Drahmin, and basically all the poor executed characters who appeared once never to be seen again. Dont respond to the peasants. They will always be servants to the empress As for how she's ranking, I am quite surprised she's doing so much better than MK9. I thought she was really solid in MK9 and really slow, clunky, unsafe in MKX. It's so much harder for me to win with her online tbh

I'm kinda surprised of the low ranking of kitana and quan chi. I've been co maining kitana and kenshi since I got the game and I can't believe how good kitana is, especially after the buffs. Not trying to brag but i seldom get beat w kitana and I promise I'm not a spammer. She just seems very user friendly to me and well rounded.


I started quan chi a few weeks ago and have to say the same for him. The sorcerer version has alot of really good moves. Projectiles teleports decent combos. Why the hell is he so low?

Ive started seing alot more Mileena, Quan Chi and Kotal Kahn players online as of late. Be interesting to see their usage over the next few months. Suprised to see Sonya slipping so much. Shes hardcore!

There is nothing fishy about the list. Two other users have done updates before and in each list Kotal Kahn is used more than Kitana. There is nothing irregular about the list. Kitana is one of the least used characters on every list. Off course you are free to make the list at your own leisure.

A person's experience online is not relative to the usage of the list since other modes are included as well.

Well it's not necessarily about popularity. In general Kitana would be more popular but she was so shit when this game was released no one was using her. They've given her some dope buffs but unless you've been using her since the beginning you might not even notice.

And while lag was nonexistent, button latency was out in full effect. And for a punish heavy character like Kitana it's kind of risky online imo. I wonder if it's better on the Playstation.

On the Playstation 4 if I use an ethernet cable I get no noticable lag at all if I am playing someone with a good connection. Pefect experience esepcially with those with a good connection. When I am playing in my bedroom I use the Wifi and more matches do not have a green connection but I still can get lag free matches.

There's nothing fishy about official stats. I've ran into more Ferra/Torrs than Kitanas or Cassies, yet they're higher. Your personal experience =/= facts.

It seems some people have forgotten their blabbering from MK9 about how important ranks are, now that their favs are doing absolutely trash in the exact same ranks. Hilarical :''D

I am absolutely shocked by the fact that the female Scorpion's ranking so low in MK9 (missing the top 20 after being whored more than anyone but Scorpion) and MkX after several buffs, and after "her popularity rose" and has never made the top 10 at any point in the game's life!

All this. Tanya is actually doing pretty well for a female DLC, I think -- she got up close to the Quan Chi/Kano set, even if she probably won't pass them.

I also actually think they played up her 'black magic woman' gimmick really well in this game. She feels more like a sorceress (which was the popular fandom interpretation) than she ever did in the previous timeline.

Frost is the only female I could see getting high usage as a DLC, for the Sub-Zero connection reason you mention.

I do worry that eventually we're going to start getting female guest characters instead to ensure popularity. Much as I love Ellen Ripley, Sarah Connor etc., I want my MK girls in an MK game. :P
