He reminds me of Livio from Trigun. Other than that, I don't have an opinion of him at this time.

I think Kotal loses another ally, he obviously has a lot, Ferra/Torr, D'vorah, Reptile and this Erron Black dude.

Well, people said she will (too bad) still be around in later parts of the comic, so that really doesn't feel good.
But I doubt it will be Erron Black, he isn't an ally, more like an right hand-figure.

I don't get the ninja-mask thing?

And watch fans create art for Erron Black in ninja style.
This will be the orange ninja with black tigerstripes. Would make some cool fan-art though.

My thoughts exactly. Looks more like a bandana covering his face.

It is a bandana covering his face. A lot of actors wore those in the olden days in western shows and movies.

I hope Erron Black is the bow-user, not only a gun user.
I know a bow + cowboy doesn't make sense, but I want him to be more than just a cowboy, I want him to be a silent type of weapon expert in ranged weapons, bows are ranged weapons so it could be style, guns being another one.

Not that it means much, but his gauntlets don't match up with that picture.

Based on the little of him I've seen, I don't care for his design and also don't understand how he has become the most popular character all the sudden! Haha.
Gunslingers and the like just don't fit into the MK universe to me. It's weird. But then again, neither did robots for me in the 90s.

Mortal Kombat's versatility in the type of characters they introduce is what makes it MK to me. Almost every game introduces a character you wouldn't have expected to see.
A dude with a razor bladed hat that he throws around? Wut?
Two pallet swapped cyborgs that shoot missles and bombs? Huh?
A straight up Native American stereotype? Is this real?
A guy with bungie cords coming out of his boots?! Wtf?
To me, there is no character you can put in MK that would be out of place. That doesn't mean all characters are created equal, but I give them major credit for always trying to bring something new and unexpected to the table.

I doubt the mask has anything to do with ninjas. It seems like its supposed to be similar to how western gunslingers dudes are sometimes depicted as having a bandana covering most of their faces, it may not be an actual bandana, but I am pretty sure that's what they were going for.

Yeah. I didn't get the ninja thing either. I think his gunslinger cowboy look is cool. And, at least unique for MK. Who never had someonw, like it. If he is a character I'm glad he isn't another ninja or cyborg. I'd live without ever seeing another ninja created bring on fresh creations

The very first game had a cyborg -- Kano was directly inspired by the Terminator, even if he didn't use high-tech weapons. MK2 was the only game that really zeroed in on a heavily Asian-themed kung fu/ninja influence, expanding on the roster of MK1 while actually lessening its overall diversity in proportion. And I think this is the game that a lot of people are thinking of when they say that certain ideas "don't fit" into MK. MK3 is the game that realized that the entire world has a stake in the tournament, and so you pretty much need to open it up to worldwide influences, which includes high technology and a whole planet's worth of warrior and fantasy archetypes. Otherwise it's not Earth's tournament, it's basically China's with the occasional token American. MK4 and onward aimed to get the whole multiverse involved, and once those gates are open, pretty much anything fits as long as it has a worthy "place."
The only compelling argument I would have against an Old West style gunslinger is that it feels anachronistic -- if Black were living in Earthrealm, this character type should be extinct in the modern time. But then, you could say the same about the original MK ninjas, or Nightwolf. But if a wandering gunslinger could make a living anywhere, it would be in Outworld.

An aspect of Erron Black I think would be cool is if (assuming he and Salazar are the same) if when he went to Outworld from Earthrealm, he took it as an opportunity to reinvent himself in a world that wouldn't think twice about him dressing that way.
Say, imagine if you grew up thinking cowboys and gunslingers were pretty badass, you watched a lot of Clint Eastwood and John Wayne movies. Maybe it's even what inspired you to live an outlaw lifestyle, get good with weapons. Now you're suddenly in this place that has no idea what Clint Eastwood is. It would be a great way to have him be able to live out that fantasy without people questioning it, which I think would be an interesting way to humanize him as well.

I knew I wasn't the only one with some taste around here. MK needed a gunslinger. MK needed Roland of Gilead, a Woodrow Call, a Clint Eastwood, a John Wayne, a Doc Holiday. I bet $15 Erron Black or whatever he will be named is boot number two. It resembles a cowboy boot more so than the rest. I hope he doesn't get the bow. A long bow doesn't make sense. Give him some six shooters, a horse, a rope, a knife and if he's gonna use a bow let it be a gift from nightwolf or something like that.

Yeah, I don't get the whole "ninja cowboy" thing. A mask =/= ninja. MK fans are stupid.
I like his design and name, but that's all I can say about him so far. We know nothing else about him. I do hope he won't be killed off.
One interesting about him being a gunslinger imo is how different from Stryker they'd make him (at least I hope he'd play differently), especially if Stryker returned.
